Thank you for reviewing this! I've been looking for better reviews on this. Most have been people within the clean beauty scene. I needed to see it in on someone with my skin tone.
Interesting, I am that woman who doesn’t like/do the makeup makeup look. I literally just use a little concealer to do pinpoint on my face and my normal under-eye concealing. So something like this would work if it wasn’t so dewy, when you’re oily all that dew doesn’t do it 🤷🏽♀️ maybe if they come out with a serum that dries down more natural finish to matte then I’ll grab it. Great review!
Love the review! I recently bought this in color 17 in Sephora. An associate matched me but when I got home I thought it was a bit too dark for me. Also, ladies please check the bottom of the box this product comes in. My skin tint had expiration date 12/2021 on it and I bought it May 2022. Needless to say, I returned it.
Thanks for this review. I appreciate the fact that you mentioned your thoughts on how to reapply as well as which to buy. I’ll be picking this up on Monday☺️
Yes I probably will just to try it out.. I like in the UK so we don’t always get access to this type of product especially for woc.. if I don’t like it at least I tried it 😊
Thank you for the video and the swatches. It's so challenging to get accurate swatches, especially on deep skintones. .I think this would be great if placed on top of your favorite SPF. For example, your all time fav mineral SPF has a cast, but you love everything else about it, it doesn't break you out, right formula for your skin type, etc. This could be used as a light layer over SPF to shade correct if you didn't want to wear foundation.
I think this tinted spf serum will work for me because I m not a make up wearing person. I normally only wear bb creams and I like Iman because it's super light
I love your regular jokes about white water rafting! We actually do that stuff quite often out west! If you want to come out to Utah, I would be happy to bring more people of color to the great outdoors! The perfect sunscreen for all my active outdoor life would be a mineral sunscreen that doesn't break me out, is water resistant, feels light-weight, is SPF 50+, and doesn't leave a white cast. I don't think that perfect sunscreen exists out there, some of those features contradict each other, lol so I agree with you that most people need more than one sunscreen in their stash.
Hiiii!! Loveee your makeup!! I like the glowy look and I am farrr a makeup girl but lately I been wanted to get into this Ilia Tint. Do you happen to have a video on your current makeup in this video? My skin is extremely dry and i like glowww ☺️

I'm here early!!! I said this comment on another vid, I wish Ilia worked for me - I wanted it so bad as a summer less layers solution. I tried 2 colors. The minute they hit my skin, oddly, they oxidized, you could *see* the chemical reaction. It could have been a fluke, though? 🤔
hey, boo!!!! morning!!! So I don't think I'd call it a fluke. The brand definitely warns that the color will look lighter upon application but will deepen 30-60 seconds after. I did a Q&A with a cosmetic chemist on my blog that can help explain what happens with oxidation though: tsabd.com/oxidation_explained. The water content in the Ilia foundation could be causing it to look darker as it "dries down."
@@styleandbeautydoctor this is helpful! The Sephora rep swatched it on me and damn near threw dropper when she saw the reaction 💀 Ok, let me check out the blog and I'll give it another go!
I’m light medium, bought the shade Bom Bom. I do like it, however, it really looks best on me when applied to clean, dry skin, with no other products underneath it. If I put on enough to give me the SPF of 40, it looks like too much. If I put it on over sunscreen, it just doesn’t perform well, seems to settle into lines and pores. So, I bought the Ilia Beyond C, also SPF 40, thinking I could layer them and it would be enough SPF….but the two together is very, very glowy, so powder is necessary. I can get it to look nice, but in the end, just too much work. Currently looking for an oil free mineral sunscreen that will work under the Serum.
Do you think if you mix it with your normal spf it would change the color? I use Elta MD clear which is actually white out the bottle. I'm thinking to get 1 shade darker and mix it with the spf
Hey! As I mentioned in the video, be careful mixing anything INTO your sunscreen as it can degrade the spf protection. You can layer products ON TOP of your sunscreen after you’ve given the sunscreen 10-15 mins to form a protective layer. Check out 4:21 on this video: ua-cam.com/video/XULpx1jaREo/v-deo.html
Was that the Cars Shake It Up I heard in there? I think this is a no for me. The most I could see is adding a few drops of it to a different sunscreen that may have a cast
I know you don’t like it when we ask this question lollll but I checked the blog and could not find. Unless I didn’t check hard enough. Have you tried Josie Maron whipped argon oil spf 45 body butter? Sounds tempting, curious to know your thoughts If you’ve tried.
So I'm new to your channel and I don't actually wear make-up (can't even do lipstick anymore) so I'm looking for just sunscreen for melanated skin and I also have very sensitive skin. Can you do a video one those options?
I thought that if you put on serums like hyaluronic acid and niacenemide you need sunscreen to combat the photosensitive it causes. So how does it work if those two actives are in the sunscreen? Would it cause you to become even more sensitive? Btw I love ur look. Your really beautiful.
That’s not the intended purpose of the product. You have to be careful with mixing into sunscreen as it can degrade the spf protection. Check out 4:21 on this video: ua-cam.com/video/XULpx1jaREo/v-deo.html
I haven’t noticed that when testing it, but it depends on the texture of your morning skincare products. If you notice pilling with products, give each one time to “settle” before adding the next one.
I know you said it's not a good idea to mix sunscreen products with other products, but I think it should be ok to mix 2 mineral sunscreens right? I ask because I feel like this might be a good sunscreen to mix with other mineral sunscreens that leave a white cast. That way you can wear any good mineral sunscreen you want to wear and just add in a little of this sunscreen so there's no white cast. What do you think?
I personally would put this on top of your sunscreen-so apply your sunscreen like usual and then apply this on top like makeup. There is a study where they added a Dermablend pigment product to mineral sunscreens (see more here: ua-cam.com/video/f1VieDwk4Vo/v-deo.html) but I’m not sure if it’s okay to add any pigment product which is why I say apply it on top to be safe. I do think I saw a video on Dr Alexis Stephens’s channel on this Ilia product-maybe she has more insight on whether you can mix it in or not.
Thank you for your review ! I thought it was a tinted sunscreen but in the end it’s a foundation with spf in it, which is not what I’m looking for, I need a real sunscreen which will protect me
I wouldn’t categorize this with the foundations with SPF. Those usually only have SPF 8 or 15. This one has a higher SPF of 40 as long as you use enough. Hope you find what you’re looking for!
