I loved the look of this mic and just wanted one. Got one off that auction site with connector and cable and tested it out, and I was surprised how good it sounded. So for my latest podcast I gave it a shot, and I’m perfectly happy with the results. And it looks super cool on camera.
When I was growing up, we had 664's as choir mics in church on 9 foot tall Atlas stands. More than once I saw them get knocked to the floor attached to those stands, and they never quit working, never quit sounding good.
Oddly enough I’ve seen this particular microphone on various old videos of people talking into them at public events or something of the sort! I wouldn’t be surprised if James Brown sang into one too?! But definitely for speaking into ! Thank you for sharing this video!
I think my favorite thing I used it on was the guitar amp. Love the tone it picks up. Especially after a little bit of EQ. I actually use a shure unisphere mic for my stage microphone in my country band. That’s another old one. It looks badass and sound incredible. I’m gonna have to do a video on that one at some point too!
I like this video and own this mic. My two cents of unsolicited advice is that the background music while you’re showcasing unprocessed and processed vocal detracts from your purpose. But thank you for a cool review of a cool old mic.

That's awesome! They truly don't make things like they used to!

Bruno Mars & Lady Gaga Die With A Smile music video microphone
How much are you paying Cabelas to use their logo? Great video.
Shhhh, don't let everybody know!! lol Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it!!
Why would you make a video about how a mic sounds with chaotic music in the background ? Can’t even hear the vocal part clearly.
Yes I agree ... Can't we just have a simple voice with no silly background noise/ music please....
