Leaking Grohe Shower
Shower temperature not working
Grohe shower temperature control issues.
Quick guide showing how to replace easily with minimal tools that anyone can find.
Note - Amazon and eBay great sources for finding the replacement thermostatic valves. If in doubt - open first to find the part number then put back together while the replacement is being shipped to you.
Takes normally only 5 minutes when you’re not holding a phone to try and record at the same time :-)
Hope this helps somebody :-).

I have a malfunctioning controller that is eight years old and no longer marketed by Grohe so there is very little info available. This one you have fixed is similar enough to mine and your video has given me the confidence to perform a repair. Thanks very much for this!
That’s very much Richard. Very happy to hear this has helped out 👍. Happy new year to you.
Tom, I want to thank you for taking the time to record and share this. You saved me nearly $2,000 by not paying a plumber to replace my entire shower because I wasn’t getting any cold water. (Here in the US, Grohe isn’t nearly as common as domestic brands, and every professional I asked to diagnose the problem said they couldn’t figure it out, or it would require tearing out the valves and putting in something new.)
So I started doing my own research and I’m so glad I did because I found your rock solid tutorial. Only one thing I would add: your handle may be missing the tiny hex screw that keeps it in place. After multiple failed attempts at your leap-of-faith yank, I realized I had to remove that first. ;)
BTW, for those asking, the part number that worked for me was 47217000, and yes, there are many online for around what you paid.
Anyway, thanks again! You’ve got one video on your account, and it’s this one. I feel so lucky.
Thanks so much Stephen. Glad it helped :-). Thanks for the part number advice also 👍🙂
This is a great How-to video. Thank you so much. I'm pretty handy but seeing it done correctly made the repair even easier. The ONLY thing I would add, is that you check to make sure you have the thermostatic valve set at the proper temperature (run the water) before putting on the rest of the hardware. I didn't and I had to go back to adjust it. Other than that, this was a huge help!!
Yes - you’re absolutely right. Thanks for the tip. I should have added this. Thanks again. T
Thank you !
Great video, mine came with a small lubricant package, where does this get applied to, the prong gaskets?
Thanks very much - yes I believe around the gaskets perhaps to help with the seal. Of the two recent ones replaced I had only the lube in one of the packs. I don’t believe I used it in either - but probably better to use if you have it there just in case 👍
Does It look the thermostat valve Grohe 47217000 fit to replacement for that kind of tap for cold mixer issue ?
Yes - that part looks to be the same type of one. The cold mixer issue will be quickly resolved by doing this (I believe ! ). Not too bad a job to do and an instant result all going well. Best of luck. 👍
Thank you for the video. What is the model number? 476200? Another question is whether I need to turn off the water because the value above is off?
I meant 47662000
@@fredlee4250 У меня точно такой же дизайн Grohe, и мне тоже нужно поменять термостат, но я не знаю какой номер именно этой модели. Ты нашёл то что искал? Это 47662000?
Did you turn off the water to the shower before removing the valve?
Oh yes - 100%. Need to turn the water feed off first before you remove the valve or the water will go everywhere.
Do you know the name of the trim or the model number?
Not to hand unfortunately- but I’m in that building again this Saturday coming and I’ll send the details across to you 👍
What is the \part number please?
