      I think a relay split isn't equivalent to a world record due to the fact that you can start at any time
      However to the best of my knowledge the best ever relay split is 46.06 by Jason Lezak

      in medley, only the first swimmer (backstroke) can officially set new record. Others not, cause they have so called 'flying start'

      Relay splits tend to be faster as you dont have the reaction time delay of the gun

And another China victory, the title was about the triple 2nd place instead.     Butterfly leg and Xu Jiayu very very slow lead off leg cost china the gold . If butterfly leg will be one second faster , then Xu backstroke leg also capable of one second faster. Then it will be China's gold. I don't know what happens to Xu in lead off

      @@user-te1et6qf6h it's not about getting old man . He already did 52.42 twice in this championship. One of them was when he leading off mixed medley relay here . But he swam only 53.39 that is slowest he swim among all races in Fukuoka. I think 50m back final held in the same session may cost him alot. Regarding age Murphy is older than him.

      All the ifs, buts, and maybes. You don’t simply drop one second in a relay, duh. 🙄
      China has a top swimmer in each stroke except the fly - and that cost them. The US may be a much weaker team without Dressel but their strengths are more even across the field.
      It’s the same reason Australia lost the women’s medley relay - their breaststroke leg is too weak.
      To confidently win a medley relay, you need talent in all four strokes. That’s just reality.

      Yeah Xu particularly was very disappointing. He should have did better. Probably won’t get china the gold even if he performed to his standards but would at least be pretty close to the US.
