Thanks for the nice feedback :-) I always enjoyed making the videos. Have stopped for now because there's too much stuff out there nowadays but maybe I'll pick it up again in the future. Cheers Ydna
Thanks mate :-) Above the Mapex snare is a 10" Chopper effect cymbal made by Sabian with an added custom cut former crash cymbal on top. It doesn't change the sound of the Chopper, it just adds another sound option to my drums.Cheers Ydna
Thanks for the kind words :-) The black aux snare is a 10" Mapex Black Panther, the other aux snare at the bottom of the video is a 10" Sonor Jungle Snare. Cheers Ydna
Hello Jungleritter ! The break you use at the beginning is interesting. I'm an Indian tabla player, and we use of a lot of those kind of breaks. We call them "tihai". Basically it's 3x the same pattern, and the very last note is at the same time the very last note of the 3 blocks AND the One of the next pattern. The one you are using, I count it in 16th notes like: 12345 - 12345 - 12345
Thanks :-) I use a classic set up. Mic usually halfway through the hole, pointing slightly off center towards the batter head. Sometimes I will just lay it onto the little pillow I have inside, although it sounds better on the stand. It's an AKG D 112. I use Noise Gate, Compressor and EQ of course as well. Cheers Ydna
Pearl drums or Gibraltor both make clamps for that purpose. Pearl had the AX20 that was inexpensive. Don't know if they still have or not, but probably do. Look for a dealer.
Hi :-) I know what a tihai is, we studied this when I was studying music/drums at school. I love tabla playing and indian rhythms in general, they are so rich and sophisticated. Take care Ydna
Thanx mate!! It's true, I mess up at least once in all of my videos. I never practice what I'm going to tape, it's more like a real drum lesson and that's the way I want it to be. I could easily stop the tape and redo it, but perfect is boring, hahaha. Cheers Ydna
Das ist meine "Trash Snare". Eine Sonor Jungle Snare mit einigen Aenderungen (der Snare Teppich ist auf dem Schlagfell montiert und der Metallreifen produziert diesen trashigen sound)
You're very welcome :-) The hi-hat pedal is a DW 5000. It works great. There are probably better pedals out there but I'm happy with it. The aux snare is a 10" Mapex Black Panther 5x5.5. There's a video on my channel called Ydna Murd's Drumset Tour, check it out :-) All the best Ydna
Hi Nils, I have lots of drumless play-alongs available on CDBaby and iTunes. Just go on their webpages and type in "YDNA MURD" and you will be able to preview all the songs. Cheers Ydna
@Jungleritter Yeah It's awesome sounding too but I exactly ment that small snare next to that chopper disk. . :D Btw all your videos are awesome, D&B drumming is allways so..impressive! And U really know how to drum!
i know i've asked before but what drums are those? all of them, aux snare, main snare, and the kit and sizes of toms aswell. I want a set up just like that (excluding the aux snare.) so a five piece with two floors. and i love yours !
i've always wondered why i couldnt recreate the "dubble snare hit" on a drum machine but now i see its just the same snare but hit on a different angle.
The grooves in your 2015 videos are a bit different. We're is the Bass drum! D&B is exactly what it is. Can you offer more ideas on bass drum techniques. I love watching your videos. You show a way of drumming which is different. Grooves and beats are very unique. Have you ever listened to Jojo Mayer ? He's got it down on D&B and Jungle beats. His group is Nerve .Learning tons of ways to play the drums. I thought I was the only one teaching myself to play techno and Jungle, Drum & Bass. Then I found Jojo has been doing it for quite a while. Do you play with a group? I'd love to see you live.
WOW! thats amazing and believe it or not my fave parts (besides the end Live jam) where when u messed up because it just shows "Hey Shit Happens" lol Im going to subscribe to your channels, Thanx again! -Joey G
That´s just a track I made for this video, it didn´t make it on my last CD. Search for Ydna Murd on iTunes or CDBaby to find my drumless tracks available online. Thanks and Cheers Ydna
Hi, I have this video on my channel that's called Ydna Murd's drumset tour, that's probably very helpful in figuring out what I use. I should mention I just bought a new drum kit :-) A Sonor Ascent kit but with pretty much the same sizes and the same setup. Cheers Ydna
This is a modified 10" Sonor Jungle Snare. A video on my channel is dedicated to this snare, it's called Sonor Jungle Trash Snare, check it out :-) Cheers Ydna
Yes... you are a wicked drummer man... nuff respect... I am a serious lover of drum and bass, and have been since the dawning of the 90's... and I have recently begun to produce my own music digitally (software only)... wish I had such an inspirational drummer such as yourself to work with and provide quality breaks... is there anywhere where i could possibly get a selection of your drumming for use in my future music productions? jungle love man... jungle love!
+HOPKIRK Hi, thanks for the kind words mate, appreciate it :-) I've been meaning to produce a sample pack with drum loops but haven't found the time yet, things like that take a lot of time. There's also good products on the market already, will be difficult to top them
I have 9 tracks available. Search for "Drum&Bass Play-Alongs For The Wicked Drummer" by Ydna Murd on iTunes or CDBaby. I think you're gonna like them :-) Thanks Ydna

Thanx :-) The main snare is a 14" Brady from Australia.
Thanks :-) I use a classic set up. Mic usually halfway through the hole, pointing slightly off center towards the batter head. It's almost like an overlapping or 'condensed' paraddiddle at the start. Very cool.
Cool, great to hear you liked it :-)

I counted 24 of those patterns in that song. 24 or 25
eye opening, i can play whatever is explained to me no problem, but i have such a poor ear when it comes to picking up on subtleties in drumming.
