My heart reaches you to you for your loss. I have been doing rescue work for 30 years and am looking at my mausoleum of urns from the 18 dogs whose lives I have been fortunate to share with them. The only thing that I know brings me succor is that I believe now since their passing I did everything I could to make their lives better. My last remaining dog, Sadie, a six year old Kuvasz is snoring at my feet as I type this.
A Dog’s Last Will And Testament
“Before humans die, they write their last will and testament, give their home and all they have to those they leave behind. If, with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I’d ask…
To a poor and lonely stray I’d give my happy home; my bowl and cozy bed, soft pillow and all my toys; the lap, which I loved so much; the hand that stroked my fur; and the sweet voice that spoke my name.
I’d will the sad, scared dog shelter dog the place I had in my human’s loving heart, of which there seemed no bounds.
So, when I die, please do not say, “I will never have a pet again, for the loss and pain is more than I can stand.”
Instead, go find an unloved dog, one whose life has held no joy or hope, and give my place to him.
This is the only thing I can give…
    The love I left behind.”

Indeed, we were a family that have loss a dear dog and said we would never have dogs again. After few years, my niece gave us 2 shihtzus and they became senior with us, i recently loss the other one to cancer and i still got one senior shih. I advocate that others who have loss a beloved pet open their hearts to dogs that were in the shelter. It is not to forget our departed pets but to give hope and love to those other pets that needed our love, home, care and companion. 🙏🏻❤️🐶

Beautiful! My solid black German Shepherd is 2.5 years old. I’m 76. I’m torn between worrying about who dies first, me or her. If I die first my concern is who will take care of her. Will they love her with the care I had for her. If she dies before me, how will I do without the love she has given me. I have no real stress. It is just the occasional thoughts I have. What I do is give her as much joy as I can and that gives me so much joy. She is very obedient and that gives me joy. She is always eager to explore a new place, as that gives us both tremendous joy and pleasure. I work on living in the now. That’s the best I can do for the both of us. Thank you for your story. Very joyful to read.

@@adventureswithcookieandcowboy I am so sorry for your loss of your fur baby. Sadly, I know how that feels. My wife and I have gone through this twice with our golden retrievers. We now have two more (when I only planned on getting one) rescued them when they were 4-5. However, they're both 8-9 and I know their times are coming. It's the hardest things I've ever done - when I had to take our old dog Brooks in 2010 and Isabelle in 2020 to be put to sleep. I was an emotional wreck for a long time. The only advice I can give you is this - get another dog ASAP. Reason? You have a lot of love to give a dog and lots of them need forever homes like the kind you provide. Hugs to you and yours. Merry Christmas.

GSD is the best breed of all. Regal and majestic, yet hilariously cute at the same time. Incredibly smart and loyal, so attached that they get to be called a velcro dogs. God, bless them all. There are some German Shepherd dog shelters in the US, that have their UA-cam channels. I know there's one in San Diego (Coastal K9 GSR), one in LA, one in Pennsylvania I guess (Char-Wills Rescue). It might be the most healing to adopt one of those amazing beings. Good luck!

My canine friends have always been my most loyal allies; and I have lost several of them. I always feel great sorrow in this and only time lessens it somewhat. But, there are so many unwanted dogs out there, that I feel helping out as many as you can is the right thing to do. I even got into breeding doberman's for a while. I wanted to keep all the puppies, but knew I could not give them all a good life. I worked hard at finding them good homes, and it was a very gratifying experience. There is a lot of sorrow in this life, you just have to take the pain and keep going. Semper Fidelis

We don't get over the loss of our best friends because their spirit never leaves us. I lost my Ollie in 2011 at 16yo AND Jake the same year at 15 who i might add was so bonded With Ollie, they were inseperable and Jakes passing went unexplained. I believe in my heart his grief overwhelmed him and he gave up. Chester my beautiful cocker spaniel passed away in my arms at 8 in 2018 from a sudden devastating heart attack . and my beloved Charlie at 14 left me in 2021 at 14. I still greave each and every loss but the one constant is they are still with me in spirit. By the many memories we made together the adventures we had the pictures and videos we took. Each name is tattooed in my heart and soul and if by chance i outlive Harvey and oscar their names will also be immortalised in my heart.
My grief spurred me on to something positive, I promised them that i would always have a home for dogs and i now support some rescue charities such is my undying love for dogs.

I lost my German Shepherd Hank on September 20, 2024. He had to be put to sleep because he finally lost all use of his back end. He was 13 and I’d had him since he was 4 months old. It was absolutely the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. I miss him so much. I will love him forever. If you’ve ever loved a dog you will understand.

    • @amyheltonwalker
      @amyheltonwalker 7 днів тому +1

      @
That’s exactly what happened to Hank. His heart and will was strong, he was a warrior who never stopped. He would drag himself to wherever we were. I had to make the decision when he couldn’t get up to go to the bathroom in the night and seeing such a wonderful proud creature laying in his urine and waste absolutely broke my heart. He was one that went to the woods out of sight to do his business. He just finally lost all use and ability to stand. He had been able to at least stand some before. Calling the vet and making an appointment for him made me physically sick. My son had to do it and it was awful for him. It was so hard because his mind and heart were strong and half of his body was good but the other half had completely failed. He loved riding in a vehicle so he was happy and looking around at everything on the way to the vet. My husband did point out that Hank had lived all his live happy and he died happy, that’s not a bad thing. Hank never knew any bad in his life.
It’s just been so hard for me to come to peace with because it was me that chose his time to go. It wasn’t natural.
Hank was full of personality and the name fit him perfectly. His picture is the one I use with my name here on UA-cam. He was beautiful and regal looking.

When it comes to a bond between an animal and man, there is no bond greater. If he had to, he would have gave his life for you if ever it were needed, trust me. Just like Fester would have done for me and I for him. I hate to say this, but time does not heal all wounds. In my experience, time makes those heartfelt wounds hurt deeper. I know it may not make any sense, but I welcome that sadness, that pain. It is just another step forward to my final destination. It's another step to seeing him again. I would gladly take this pain away from you if it were allowed.
