I'm surprised someone still thinks it's unintentional. Buy a paddle and try yourself to see how much power it needs to break it.
I would have thought it was accidental except that it was actually in his suitcase which has padding and other things in it. Also the handle seemed bent up. If you stepped on something and it snapped it should not have been bent up in that way, it looked like it would take longer to bend in that angle. Also a Swedish woman journalist report deliberately smashed her body aggressively into this same player when he was having an interview with another reporter and she was banned from the Olympics by security, so I think there is too much to be coincidental, he was definitely targeted for sure. In the video, she pretended to be walking by staring down at equipment then she hesitated right near him, where he was talking during an interview, so she had to have heard him right next to her talking and then deliberately takes a big step to her right side and smashes into him carrying her heavy camera equipment. You can see his shocked face. She doesn’t apologize but just abruptly walks off. The fact that she was banned by the Olympics shows that there is real reason to believe that this was a deliberate targeting and not merely accidental.
Definitely deliberate, hard to break a racket like that even if stepped on hard. Take it as a lesson for future competitions, there are many people who are jealous of the Chinese.
LA 2028 is going to be scandalous. We should be expecting more underhanded tricks from the west, and since it will be in the US, the USians will probably go all out to undermine the Chinese athletes.
I expect sabotages, set-ups, even poisonings and violence. The Chinese team will need to bring their own food, cooks, even water and should not be touring LA without bodyguards and bullet proof vests.
I just saw the whole video analysis, it was clear, the photographer had his camera pointed down and was messing with something with his other hand. Hbent the paddle upwards whilst stepping on it. The photographer is filmed looking down at the suitcase when all the other photographers left as if to admire his handiwork and when he left there was a smirk on his face. It’s simply evil.
I totally understand his feelings... Just last night I changed from my Timo boll ALC which is perfect to my other perfect nitakku Goriki C's I needed more weight on the forehand...
Hopefully he and his coach will learn from this intentional subotage. Going forward, the coach should be the only one entrusted with handling his racket to keep it safe after the match is over.
Korean Journalists he put a napkin on his hand and feet to cover his prints
No matter if It's deliberate or accident, Wang was mature when he takes responsibility for his loss on himself, he didn't blame the broken racket. I hope to see him in the next Olympic when he get peak to seek his revenge.
Revange on Truls coming soon, tomorrow day.
@@aldaron555Yes! I hope Wang face Truls Moregard twice and 3-0 him twice. Even though I don't think China will allow 11-0, I hope Wang make his anger goes life and play very aggressive until Truls Moregard can't handle him and get defeated 11-0. I have never seen Truls Moregard lost 11-0 and I hope Wang could do it, and let me see something interesting.

It was a Chinese photographer. They decide to forgive him because it was a same nationality. Definitely would've been bigger issue if it was another country's reporter.

Use common sense, why would a reporter from a non competing country be rushing to take photos? Smh!
Thanks for the analysis. Quite interesting

In an interview Timo Boll reported to have 6 to 8 fully prepared rackets for each tournament and then picks the one that performes best under the circumstances of the environment. So tell me why WCQ did not even have *a single* racket as fall back scenario? What if the one breaks during a match? He can't go on playing, or what?

A racket can definitely break on the floor, and a racket should not be placed in a case that is open on the floor, especially if it's such a precision tool, as you say. Maybe from now on, he should have 2 rackets he plays with equally just in case. No pun intended.
he didn’t put his racket on the floor, he put it back in his suitcase. Some videos can show a reporter deliberately stepping on his racket 😢
it may not be deliberate. I have once stepped on melted ice cream on the floor by accident while trying to take a photo with my phone ... just saying it hard to multi-task.

This is gibberish; at the beginning it's stated that a Korean / Japanese reporter did it deliberately and then later it's labeled an accident. Do better in making a coherent statement or account of what happened.
한국, 일본이 나올 이유가 없지요
Yes, the feeling of the new racket during the match may have affected WCQ's performance but it's just too unwise not to have at least 2 or 3 identical main rackets especially during this very importantant match in the olympics.
I think the accident have made WCQ learned a lesson. There's no doubt he'll have more back up identical main rackets next olympics/wtt events.

I don't agree that at the highest level the slightest difference would put him off his game. Surely he practices with a variety of identical blades and rubbers and at the highest level would be able to adjust to minor differences.

of course Korean, just like what they did in 2002 World Cup
That is a serious accusation unless you have evidences otherwise ... this is baloney
There is a valid argument bc he trained beforehand on this racket.
Sorry but he played with the exact set up for his next match. Same blade same rubbers. But what’s even more important to note is that all pro TT players constantly change their rubbers. Some change them after each match. So it’s not like he was using that same paddle with the same rubbers for months or even years. At best he would have been playing with those same rubbers and blade for most of the tournament. However more than likely, which is the usual case, he would have changed the rubbers after that match anyway. Changing rubbers constantly for pro players is the norm. So they never fully get used to their rackets as their set up is constantly being renewed. So in essence he just played with his back up racket, which apparently was the exact same set up, but just new and unused. So if anything this would have been advantageous not detrimental. On top of that, he himself said the racket was not the problem. For those who don’t know about TT yeah they might think a player sticks with his set up like a violinist sticks with his specific instrument for years. But this is simply not the case at all in the sport of TT. Sometimes their set ups change on a daily basis. Please understand this. By the way we all love Wang and he is a great player so this is no reflection on him. It’s just the spin others are bringing to the table to try and justify Trul’s amazing performance. They are all wonderful players and it’s just a case of the best player winning on the day. That’s it…

Unfassbar ! !!!!!!!
My biggest gripe with this whole story is that the raquet thing seems to be presented by most as the sole reason why he lost, which unfairly discredits the opponent he lost to.
1. Nobody can say with certainty that the journalist did it intentionally. It is possible but we dont know so people, stop being so certain that it was intentional. Come on!
2. It is a fact that a player can be distraught and impacted by his favorite paddle being broken. These players are so good, details like that are important.
3. Moregaard played the best match of his life.
4. WCQ did not play nearly the level he can. In table tennis, 11 points goes fast and when you fall behind and you are on a day when you are not feeling the ball so well, it is tough.
To start with..that area is restricted.

Please stop this nonsense! You can't see any evidence at all in these videos! Also, as professionals they train with at least 3 rackets with the exact same setup! Because they can tear the rubber or damage the edge of the racket hitting the table trying to loop a semi long ball! If damaged the umpire will make them replace it! All coaches of high level players insist on them training with at least three rackets! This excuse was never given by WCQ so why are you and the rest of the people on here running to his defense? The fact is that Moregard played very well and won the match fair and square same as when Ito and Mizutani won in Japan! Chinese table tennis players are very good but they are not invincible!
I bet it's some despicable western reporter who tried to steal the paddle.
I'm not a fan of the CCP but I have nothing against the chinese people and it irritates me when i see things like this happen to my fellow players.
I suspect the incident got into Wangs head and the actual blade change probably didnt make much of a difference, but imagine having someone break your favorite blade at the olympics and then trying to focus on your game?
He's still number 1 by 2000 points although we all shouldn't care so much about who won. Let's just play, its a fun game and great excercise.

Totally rubbish content 😂 Swallow the loss, you don’t throw the racket on the floor - his own fault
Total BS, spinsored players change blades regularly, rubbers weekly. Let's suppose the Umpire Racket Control had deemed his racket as illegal, he would've had to use one of his backups. So what's the issue?? None, he was defeated and can't bear the loss.

Are you really sure what you're talking about? Table tenis rackets break all the time?
Still thinking about that racket? Time to move on guys
FIRST
I have all the respect for Wang, but I am disappointed in everyone else, and ESPECIALLY any chinese person who blames the raquet accident on the loss, one would really think that such a skilled and dominant country in a sport would be past something so incredibly petty as blaming a loss on getting a broken raquet instead of congratulating the opponent properly, especially when the whole broken raquet angle is complete horseshite anyways, players change just about all parts of a raquet very frequently so using another raquet should not be such a major problem, and any objections to this Ive heard is easily debunked, like the claim that every raquet is unique etc, if so, then what kind of crappy quality control does that company have if another of the exact same raquet has such different properties that it makes him unable to play properly? Also, as for any sentimental value, sure, it could be, and at any other time I would not blame him for really liking one particular physical copy of a blade, but when playing at such an elite level as the olympics, I do not think it is a valid excuse as an elite player has to be able to rise above such things, and this is how it is, no matter if one thinks that sentimental value of a raquet is a valid excuse or not.
China wins everything anyways, so fucking give credit where credit is due, and while I do not know the full history about the reporter and how much was actually his fault, trying to illegitimize Truls victory in the match with "Oh, he won/lost just because of X" (especially when it had nothing to do with Truls) is genuinely suprising and upsetting. I understand being frustrated after a loss and wanting to blame it on something, but come on, show some class. ):
It’s somewhat true and we all know it, though, despite your clichéd moralizing. And in case you think I’m biased, I think the same applies for the American Noah Lyles who had COVID during the 200m race: there is a not-at-all specious and actually very high likelihood that he and Wang would’ve won gold in those respective events if they weren’t hampered.
Oh, and saying “no company would ever have such terrible quality control to have such variation in their rackets” is like saying the car-modding community doesn’t exist “because Toyota and Honda and Ford etc. would never have such terrible quality control to produce such different cars”. You’re right: the manufacturers wouldn’t produce cars with such different variations; the owners do.
@@ZhangK71 (Unless I am mistaking your point) Having covid is far from the same thing as all but literally makes someone unable to compete, and if going with your "manufacturers wouldnt produce cars with such different variations; the owners do" then one can also say that it is his own fault then for making such modifications.
@@Aikisbest Now you’re just grasping at straws and not even making sense. These people are all the best of the best competing against other similarly elite athletes. They don’t modify their rackets for fun or to look cool; if they do it it’s because it’s shown to increase performance. And amongst competition where one wrong move-one wrong angle, even-can decide gold or silver, medal or no medal, you really think they wouldn’t want even a modicum of a (legal*) performance boost, anything they can get? *Yes, you read that right: for table tennis, racket modifications are a common thing that many competitors have. Again, you really think Olympian-level competitors are modifying their equipment just for funsies at the expense of their performance?
Also, COVID is absolutely an apt comparison; Lyles had COVID and lost gold but still got bronze. So we’re talking about athletes who had circumstances that were small enough that they didn’t prevent them from medaling… but still large enough that they very likely prevented them from winning gold. You would have had a point if Lyles’s COVID induced him to finish last place, in which case you could argue (wrongly, but at least understandably), “See? He just isn’t that good. Even without COVID there’s no way he would’ve won gold”. But that’s not what happened. I’ll repeat: seemingly small effects making an impact because the margin of error for gold was even smaller.
@@ZhangK71 No, you are the one not making any sense, and the whole reason for my example was to show how irrelevant and nonsensical your "point" sounded, like if general modding was the same as applying the appropriate rubbers etc to a raquet, which also makes one wonder why he supposedly only had the one raquet with those exact specifications, or what made it so that only one with those exact characteristics could be made and also one could still question if it is even viable to call him the best in the world if he is THAT dependant on the one specific raquet (because that seems like kind of a big weakness to me) or alternatively that maybe some equipment rules actually needs changing if it is only the raquet that makes him go from one of the best to THE best.
Honestly I dont actually give a crap normally, but when a country and a player (who by the way themselves specifically did NOT blame the raquet incident) who is so dominant acts so petty about this and seems to all but ignore the victorious opponent, that feels deeply disrespectful, as for the incident (that could probably have been avoided had both the chinese player and the journalist been more careful with their stuff and whatever the heck said journalist was thinking), but I digress, for the incident itself, you would have to take that up with the south korean journalist, which Sweden had no part of (unless an absolutely major scandal is uncovered).
The short version is that I am a bit upset that people are acting so petty about this because I would have expected such a dominating nation in table-tennis to not feel compelled to blame their losses on something else than the performance of the opponent, but as said, as far as I know, the actual player in question did not blame the loss on the incident, so Im guessing this is some classic case of a mass media news outlet trying to rile up a story, rumours start flowing around and the common man as usual act with more heart than brain and come up with whatever explanation to blame things on)
@@Aikisbest Why do you insist on moving the goalpost instead of just acknowledging a point? Is it that hard for you to be mature about something you’re wrong on? First, you claimed that what type of racket has zero bearing on performance anyway so the Chinese player lost fair and square, then you asserted that the racket being modified in the first place is to blame for the Chinese player’s loss (hmm, I thought you had said it was “nobody’s fault”? 🤔). But then after realizing the modification actually _helps_ performance, you’re now insinuating that the modification gives him an undue advantage? My friend, you literally switched positions not once, but _twice,_ from claiming something is neutral, to bad, to good.
And regarding your insinuation, why don’t you say having a racket at all is unfair advantage-I mean, why not play with just your bare palms without the metaphorical kiddie wheels of a paddle to hit the ball with? In fact, why not play the game with just the stub of your handless arm? Don’t be ridiculous: the modifications are allowed in the game, everyone gets to do it, so the concept of unfair cheating literally doesn’t exist here. If something is allowed in the game, then it’s rightfully a part of the game, just as having a racket is a part of the game.
To your point about “why is the media / China so petty over one incident when China is already such a powerhouse”, your response and this type of thinking really irks me. It’s akin to a guest accidentally breaking something expensive in the home of his guest, but then attempting to make an excuse because “you’re rich, you can buy a million others just like it, why are you getting so upset?” It’s not about whether they can afford the loss-or, in the case of Chinese table tennis, how many gold medals it still has even without this one-it’s about the principle. I really hope you have principles of your own that you can relate to that aren’t dependent upon “how much of a stuff you already have”, otherwise perhaps this point will fly over your head.
