Weed Whacking 5ft Grass Along My Wetland Boardwalk

- Followers of my Instagram ( / lumberingshenanigans ) may remember a post about how overgrown the grass was along the wetland boardwalk.
Well, leaving it alone for another month didn't make the grass any shorter I promise you that!
So in this video I attack the five foot tall jungle with a weed-whacker and try to rescue my beautiful boardwalk from a wet spring grass-plosion. It's an oddly satisfying experience, and I've tried to show that in this edit.
If anyone has any advice on ways to tame this kind of grass in a wetland, or other native (PNW) plants or grasses that might keep the borders a little more manageable, please please please leave a comment below.
Thanks for watching.

Beautiful!
Thank you! And thanks for watching. I still haven’t figured out how to tame this grass in a manageable and predictable way. The battle continues. :)
So far so good bud..👍✌🇨🇦
Thanks. I definitely think I’ll need to pull up the boardwalk and add some kind of weed blocker underneath before next spring. And I’ll post some update pics on the Instagram when I finish weed whacking.
I’m in the planning phase for a boardwalk and I never thought about this problem. As obvious as it seems, it didn’t even dawn on me. Thanks for making me aware and let me know if you solved the challenge of grass growing between your treads. All the best.
Glad someone learned from my mistake. I haven’t solved it yet, but the solution would almost certainly be to staple weed barrier fabric to the underside. In my case though, I’m not sure that will be enough. This grass is epic.
@@lumberingshenanigansI’m now thinking about renting a dingo for the day and shaving off the top layer down to dirt. My area is not wetlands. So get down to dirt, then as you suggest; put down some roundup perhaps then a weed barrier.
