    The CF Racer1 is a brand new road and gravel bike made by Ride1Up. This is a carbon fiber bike powered by a 250w rear hub motor. Equipped with SRAM components and 36v system powered with a 7ah internal battery. What do you think of this bike? Do you think it is the right price point? Do you think road and gravel are a good category for ebikes?

    I bought one as my commuter and loaded it up with panniers and fenders. Cargo weight and headwinds on the way home don't matter with the pedal assist. At 28 pounds it was the same weight as my old analog commuter, so I figured might as well get some pedal assist to encourage me to commute more. It was my first step into ebikes and I love it. I got the road version since I'm mainly on roads. For the price it was well worth it and it fits my needs. Cut my commute by 8-10 minutes. It's pretty quiet and just feels like you're always in the right gear.

    Great Video !!!
    Voltage sag will get you every time you read the voltmeter, and with degraded performance, it will reach the end of the battery charge. Thank you very much for showing us how to make the tires tubeless.

    Great vid, I have the Ride 1Up Roadster Gravel V2 but I am taking a serious look at this bike. I weigh 220 lbs so I'm pretty sure if I get the bike I will also be getting the extender battery. I hope I would be able to switch the battery between both bikes.

      I’m looking at the Gravel Roadster and this CF Racer and I haven’t yet decided which to get. What are your thoughts on the roadster? Are you looking to replace it with the CF Racer?

    That was nice of you to test the ride 1 up. please don't mention the price again. It's like saying to the people who made the bike to raise the price cause it's so good. I do like the bike and I do wanna get one. Hopefully the price don't change

    I’m thinking about getting one but maybe wait for the new model ? Is it any talks about a new one ?

    This is exactly what I would do if I got this bike. Go tubeless and put those american classics on. It’ll probably reduce range, but I like to ride with minimal power or just use it when going up really tough hills. Can’t wait to see how far you can go on PAS 1 on the next video.

    I'm interested in this bike (road version), since I already have an e-gravel bike. I'd be interested in a distance range test in the lowest power level (using a higher level on the hills). This is the level I use with my e-gravel bike (Bosch Gen 4 motor), since most of my rides are in the 30-45 mile range.
    I suspect that to do the distances that I want I'd have to also purchase the optional extender battery.

      I hope to do a PAS 1 test soon. I know you could do over 30 as I have done a mixed PAS ride at that distance already. I am hoping for close to 50 miles in PAS 1.

    15 mile range give or take for $2300? Wish it had more juice for true extended rides...

      You can buy an extra battery that mounts to the frame for double the range.

    This is a fun video! Local coffee shoutout and thanks for showing all the tubeless conversion process! 50mm look like the right call here. What did they caliper to after install?

      They only came out to be 44mm on those rims.

    Are you reading your heart rate from your Apple Watch? I would love to be able to see cadence and heart rate on the ride one up monitor but they seem to have blocked that out from the firmware update.

    Appreciate the real-world distance test. Love the concept of this bike as I move up in the years. My major concern with the bike is the fixed stem and handlebars. I ride a Cannondale Synapse Carbon with a much higher upright position. My handlebars are almost 4" higher than the CF Racer. Any thoughts on the possibility of replacing the existing handlebars to achieve a more upright riding position?

    Just rewatched your video because my rear tire is flat after 106 miles. Need to do the tubeless. You skipped over the hardest part and didn't show the disconnection or fiddling with the rear tire. I can't reach the part that connects the cable won't he battery. It's tucked up under the crankshaft. Afraid that if I pull it and disconnect it, I won't be able to reconnect it. Any tips?

    Have you ever repaired a rear flat tire on the road with this bike

    • @RunBikeMike

      Not on the road. The front would be simple. The back is a different story. Make sure to have a 15mm wrench with you at all times.

    AWESOME presentation!! I absolutely love my new 20 mph Trek hub drive bike but looks like this one blows it away. Going top speed, it’s the wind resistance that kills the battery. If they start making them, get the $400 range extender dial back the assistance and speed here and there and you’ll get 40 miles. Which is plenty for most people. That’s an incredible bike.

    Thanks for the tubeless conversion video and fitting 50 mm tires to the bike. Your set up is getting closer and closer to how I would modify this bike. I would love to know if the cockpit (handlebar and stem) can be completely removed and swapped out with traditional stem & handlebar. Not having the bike with me I can't tell how "integrated" they all are. So close to pulling the trigger on this bike ... and knowing that the cockpit can be modified will push me over the edge

    I think a level 1 mileage test would be perfect. Maybe only going to level 2 on steeper hills. I am looking for a good E Gravel type bike for some long smooth fast dirt/gravel roads. 20-40 mile loops.

    I have the road version of this bike. Only complaint, is that the battery is weak. I bought the all-in-one battery just for longer or harder rides. I'm in love with this bike.

    I’d love to see PAS1 range test. But I’d also like to hear more about your view of their current-based cadence sensor versus a torque sensor. You mentioned the sensor in your first review and this test. I am wondering if a torque sensor is ‘need’ to have or a ‘want’ to have.

    • @RunBikeMike
      @RunBikeMike  3 місяці тому +2

      I do want to do a pas1 range test for sure. This cadence sensor feels smart. It feels very close to a torque sensor it is amazing how good they did with it.

    how would you change the stem/handlebar for a higher setup? Is it proprietary? Also, still waiting for them to offer a replaceable battery on their website.

    • @RunBikeMike
      @RunBikeMike  7 місяців тому +1

      You can change the stem and handle bars. You just need to get internal caby routed bar and stem setup.

    Curious on how you could switch the front and rear brake levers on this bike. I ride front brake on the left. Thoughts?

    • @RunBikeMike
      @RunBikeMike  4 місяці тому

      You could but you would have to remove the bar tape. Then remove the hydraulic hose from each leaver. Then move them and bleed the brake lines. Then rewrap the bars. You might also need new hydraulic lines if the lengths are not right.

    Awesome Video! CF Racer is just what I was waiting for. A stealthy & lightweight road/gravel bike. I am wondering though... Since the frame and rest of the bike seem quiet nice and light, do you know if I can 1. remove the battery 2. swap the rear wheel with a regular carbon wheel, and ride it as just a normal road/gravel bike? Also, do you know if there are any differences between the Gravel/Road version? I like the look of the wheel on the road but I like the gravel flare handlebar... :). Anyway, awesome video again and I really appreciate your help!

    • @RunBikeMike
      @RunBikeMike  7 місяців тому +1

      There really isn’t much difference. The wheels, tires, and handlebars are about it. I don’t see why you couldn’t remove the battery and ebike components and use it as a normal bike if you wanted to.

      @@MP112577 why on earth would you gut this bike of its electronics? That’s the entire point of an ebike. Just buy a regular bike.
