Just a little correction to make it a little worse, the reason the shannan was reported missing is because she was supposed to have a doctors appointment to check up on her unborn child

He suffocated them in their beds, but they didn't die. He thought they were dead. Then he went to Shannan, no doubt he told her that the kids were dead as he strangled her, then the noise of him dragging her body down the stairs woke up the kids. He might also have been listening to loud triumphant music. The kids woke up and he was angry that they were alive. They were crying, and their faces were bruised from the attempted suffocation. And then he put them in the car, no car seats, with their mom dead at their feet. He packed himself a lunch, but nothing for the kids. He already knew he was going to kill them (again). The drive is about 45 minutes, at about 5 in the morning, the kids sleeping and crying off and on, and trying to comfort each other. Then they get there, and he kills the littlest one first, and then Bella said "is that going to happen to me?" and he didn't answer her, he just killed her. She fought back pretty hard but she was only 4. Then he dumped them in two different oil batteries, because he was worried they'd wake up again and figured if they did wake up they'd drown in the oil, alone in the cold darkness. And then he dumped Shannan upside down in a ditch, with her butt in the air, and was so angry at her that he didn't even rearrange her into a more dignified position. Then he got in his car and listened to the song "Battery" by Metallica and looked up the lyrics on his phone. Then he called Bella's school and said she wouldn't be coming in, and he called a real estate agent about listing the house. This is all from his interviews after the fact, and is consistent with the autopsy findings. I watched a few documentaries about this. If you're interested in more, check out the "live abuse free" youtube channel, in which a therapist provides a brilliant analysis on why Chris did what he did. Gave me some peace because it helped me understand and not feel like literally anyone could snap and kill ME at any point. There's also a LOT going on with how awful Chris's mother is -- maybe just as evil, just more in touch with social norms and not likely to actually murder someone with her hands. But someone who might deliberately give peanuts to a tiny child who is allergic to peanuts. Even if that child is her granddaughter.

Emily Page you’re the one who wanted to make a wrong correction. It actually does matter that those girls had to sit in a truck with their dead mother before they died. Those details are important. It establishes the premeditated nature of the murders.

I was truly obsessed with this case when it first happened. Watching every video on it just trying to understand why what seemed like this perfect family man done what he did and the motives behind it. Glad you covered this however a little more research would have been worth your while. It was Shannon's best friend Nicole that raised the alarm after she was meant to meet her for a hospital appt. Nicole being aware that was very unlike Shannon to miss it. In fact only for her sticking to her gut feeling of something not feeling right Chris would have been able to come home and dispose of her handbag and phone (which he hid down the sofa and Nicole's son finds it during one of the clips). The freakiest thing was when they were watching the CCTV footage in the neighbours house and one of the adverts is of a skull being covered in oil. Basically telling everyone exactly what happened. Another advert was also related to pregnancy which Chris spotted and only then remembered to tell police that his wife was pregnant. In regards to the murders, he murdered Shannon in their bed, rolled her up in a bedsheet and put her in his work truck. He didn't however murder his girls until they arrived at the work site and he'd buried Shannon's body. Horrific. He also failed his lie detector and then after hours of interrogation and him not yet confessing the detectives bring in his father to which he then confesses. The woman doing the lie detector was incredible at her job. Joking with Chris, laughing at his comments, making him feel really relaxed and comfortable and telling him what he wants to hear. Amazing. This will most definitely be a documentary and story we hear about in years to come.

Kids had their own rooms. He didnt suffocate them there. He loaded his wife's dead body onto the floorboards of his truck & had his kids sit in the back bench seat & ride to his job site with their dead mother under their feet. It was a 45 minute drive to his job site where he smothered them each with their security blankets. The youngest, Celeste first. Then Bella, who said to her father "please dont do to me what you did to CeCe" Chris Watts is a monster.

It was her friend who noticed she was missing as she called round to find out how her doctors appointment went. They’d been away on business the weekend before and while she was away they’d discussed a divorce. There is door cam footage of her arriving home and then none of them leaving.

The motive was exactly the opposite of what y’all said. He killed his family to start over and have a new life. It’s absolutely disgusting that he threw out his whole family like trash. In the documentary, you can pretty much piece together the true motive. He wanted to go out with his side piece and have a brand new life with no kids, child support or ex-wife.
ALSO an extra thing to happen in this case is that a lot of people online blamed Shannon(I know this isn’t the right spelling but I can’t remember how to spell it) which is so disgusting that people blamed her for his crimes!

I think one of the most facinating things about this case is seeing it all unravel infront of you via cam. From the day they knock on his door, to his sentencing in court. You can see someone spend their last few days, and ultimately hours of freedom. I would love to have known what was going through his head the whole time.

For the most part you have the case right. I understand you guys are across the pond. The story is so much worse. He admitted to walking the girls to the truck that morning after loading the mom. He killed them in the truck at the work site. This shook the US. This man had everything and wanted more. His wife pleaded with him because she knew something was wrong. It’s just so messed up. From what was discovered was his mistresses was ok with him leaving his wife and still being with him. People are just lost as to why. The sad part was his wife did not fight back, she was just lost when he killed her.

In the USA, divorce is just a practical matter of separating property and such. The courts do not get into issues of fault in the divorce and have not for many many years, decades. Chris having a side piece would never even have been heard by the judge. Courts do not get into the “why’s” of the break up AT ALL. They just decide who gets what, who pays what and how to split the custody of the kids. The courts do not allow the drama in a marriage into their decisions unless it relates to the safety of the kids or one of the spouses.

The police officer wasn't "faking" calling in - he was contacting dispatch to cancel emergency ambulance or something like that, the reaction he got was true - Chris shat his pants.
Shanann was strangled not suffocated. Girls did not share a room. Chris on the initial interview said Shanann killed the girls, in the most recent interview he said he suffocated them one by one at home, but they woke up as he was wrapping Shannans body in a sheet. He then took his daughters (alive) and drove them to the dump/murder site (45min drive all the while their mother was dead by their feet) and there he suffocated Cece (youngest) and dumped her body in the oil tank and then came to Bella and then she asked "are you going to do the same thing you did to Cece" and then suffocated her.

But also I remember seeing that he confessed that Shanann Watts said he would never see his girls again so he just killed them too... but that was after he killed his wife... also you missed out the most horrifying part - he killed their mum and then he drove them still alive in the truck with him next to their mother all the way to the place where they were buried. Bella was the one he killed last and she asked are you going to do the same thing to me like you did to CeeCee and then he killed her... apparently in court they said there was evidence that Bella struggled for her life... He said that to cover his arse and seem more sympathetic to the public, he was quick to lie in front of a bunch of interrogators that his loving wife/mother of his children whom he spent years with, was an abusive shit to try and fabricate a story where he was the saviour trying to rescue his kids from his vindictive wife. He’s going to lie about his motives to just say he was afraid of losing his kids, despite him cheating and being openly honest between his mistress he would possibly abandon his family for a pair of tits.
