Thanks Mey! I love how you are able to so clearly explain pros and cons and make comparisons. My big take away from this video is "what platform is right for you right now" I am one of those who get lost in big pictures and become paralyzed in the moment of action. I had started a payhip and then a FW shop for my small niche and of course began waffling between which I should use. This video helped me clarify. You are awesome!

Ahoy Mey!... in the end seems like signing up to both is a no brainer then focus on the strengths of each one and build up... certainly better then the horror stories i have been seeing about Etsy and tiktokshop especially... i'm just about to start so this was a great insight video for me Thank you and yes i will use your ref for 4thwall :)

Thank you so much for making this video. It is so super jam-packed with so much information and very very helpful. I use both of these platforms for my businesses, but there's a lot of information and features that you covered that I was unaware of, so this is super beneficial! Thank you once again for another fantastic video!
Loved this! I feel so informed! I have been thinking about selling digital products but I had no idea what platforms were available. This was so exciting. Thank you.
There are actually a lot of shop builders where you can sell digital downloads... I mean, Fourthwall and Payhip, I guess, are popular with people lately cause they are FREE and the set up is super easy. But you can also sell using Shopify, Squarespace, wordpress, etc.. But yeah, the easiest set up with the whole start for free- gotta be Payhip and Fourthwall :) What kind of digital products have you thought about selling?
This was so useful for me, thank you. I would love you to be an admin on my FW shop. I am really struggling to get things like drop down menus and the whole basic layout as I want.
Great comparison; it would be also be helpful if you mentioned the difference between the two platforms as far as MOR (Merchant of Record) with regards to the collection and remission of US sales tax and EU VAT/UK VAT, etc.
I understand it would be, but as someone who is not a lawyer or a tax consultant- I can get sued for anything I'd say. I also don't have my business in the US, UK or EU. So I really wouldn't know the taxes and regulations for each. I get that a lot of UA-camrs talk about these things, they do that at their own risk.
Thank you, Mey!! I'm going to have to listen to that again because I'm a complete dunce at setting up websites and things. At first you convinced me of Payhip, then, lol 4th Wall had me at Customer Service and pod. I'm totally conflict avoidant so fewer people, calmer me. lol.
I would have made both vids about Payhip and Fourthwall at the same time if I knew about both at the same time haha :) Just think to yourself what you wanna sell, what features are best for you. If you think, well- Payhip I will sell digital downloads and blog about the POD I am selling on marketplaces, But with Fourthwall i can sell both POD and digital files while blogging with Hostinger builder- Simply start a free account in both, don't connect a domain yet, and play with the building system, check templates for the site building, and decide based on what looks easier for you :)
Hey Mey! I didn’t hear if you addressed this so I’ll just ask: my line in the sand is having to collect sales tax for my state who makes it a complete nightmare for us. So I went with fourth wall back in December because I heard they forward sales taxes for you. But listening to this, as someone who only wants to sell digital downloads and would love to sell courses down the road, payhip actually sounds perfect for me! Also I hate my wix website, it’s a waste of money and I just want a simple blog, again making it perfect for me. So my question is, do they handle sales taxes for us too?
The digital products process upon purchase is that the buyer gets a file to download. You can have that "product" be a PDF with instructions on what they should send you for customization, and you'll have the buyer's email to get in touch with them and give them the finale product.
Can you use your Printful account, order, let's say some notebooks and stickers you designed, and resell those products in your Payhip store under physical products? I like selling notebooks and stickers but I don't necessarily want to make them.
YES. Not sure if Printful would be the best way to do that, since their pricing is a bit higher, and they don't have bulk ordering discounts... Even thought heir notebooks are top quality! But maybe- also check Art of Where, I do know they have bulk pricing. Side note- you can also have that item on your Payhip shop and when an order is made- you make it manually with printful, so that is another way to make sure you don't spend too much money from the start.
0:31, you ssid tou sell digital products st payhip? Right!! My questions to tou are: 1. Does payhip offer marketplace or promote your design and products themselves? 2. And if payhip doesn't promote, then how do you promote products? What's the process?
SOOOOO- 1. Yes., They have a marketplace. They started off as a payment gateway, then a shop builder, then a marketplace. The marketplace is rather new, and I personally didn't like it, there was a video on that: ua-cam.com/video/6xR1qlHt-JM/v-deo.html The things I sold were always from my own shop. 2. payhip doesn't promote your items. The same way that shopify or wordpress doesn't. It's a shop builder- meant for you to promote it yourself. The thing that a lot of people, I feel like- fall for, is that even marketplaces don't really promote you. Yes- Etsy has customers, but when they will search for something there is so much competition out there- and etsy will prefer to feature first the items that already sold and have reviews. When you start out selling on a marketplace you still have to bring in your own traffic. And in that case- the traffic you'll bring in to a product you have on a marketplace will ultimately promote that marketplace- and in many cases people will just buy from your competitors. That's why when you have your own shop and you market it- you're not marketing anyone else. The process of marketing depends on you and what you're selling. There is no one process.... It's all about building an actual brand, marketing on different platforms and in different methods. I can give you a bit of a more detailed answer if you let me know what digital items you plan on selling :)
@@MeyTribe Hey Mey, what's up dear. That's such a long answer/ explanations. Thanks for that. It was informative. Yes, I can tell you. Being a designer and video editor... I am planning to sell textures, patterns, coloring books, luts, etc. Can you guide me on how to go about them separately and earn.
You can "manually" do it, by building your own product on Payhip and then ordering manually when you get an order. I would not recommend it at all. I think that trying to calculate all the shipping costs yourself and doing this manual work is too much. If someone wants to sell POD- I would say don't go with Payhip.
Hey Mey one query Payhip and Fourthwall do they have customization option like Etsy ( post customer place the order i can do the customization or personalization as per customer 's requirements)? Also can i sell any type of digital products like wedding cards as an example. Thanks dear😊
Personalized POD items are not working the same as on Etsy. You'll need to always make a manual order. However, when it comes to digital files, if you need the item to be customised- the file the buyer downloads would then be instructions on what they need to send you- and you have their email address to send them the file you've made after it was personalized. You can sell any type of digital item you want- it's your shop.
@@MeyTribe I havent decided. I was on Etsy but than my store closed cause I couldn't pay the fees so these seem so much better. I didn't know they was something like this online it can help me so much
So if someone buys a digital product through Payhip I see the customer's transaction and name directly in my PayPal account, like there is no third party between me and the customer. While Fourthwall is collecting all the money in that month and then sends it bundled to me, so on my bank account it shows just Fourthwall?
Okay so why not do a free google sites with direct PayPal buttons? Then you just pay PayPal fees and not the fees these websites are charging you just to redirect you to PayPal? Am I missing something? Sounds like middle men for PayPal.

I am asking because if I were to do that and I am on a plan that takes0 to 2% transaction fee- are they going to charge me for those downloads?

Well, it's their business decision. They are not many people, perhaps they don't have anyone on the integration side of things, to make sure it runs smoothly. Or- they are just finding it better to focus on digital files, membership, services, courses, and physical products. They started actually as a payment gateway, and only 3-4 years ago they even opened a store front. It's the same, I guess, to me, saying - why does Fourthwall not have a blog feature "that would make them perfect". Each company does what they feel best for them, or is in their vision, and manpower.
