I have the DVD with the full match. I one of those games, Power played with a racquet with no grip. Ricketts and the referee didn't let Power to put a new one in his racquet. If i'm not wrong, Power won that game, gripping the racquet directly in the racquet carbon (or plastic, because it was one of those racquets Dunlop done with interchangeable grips with different weights). Ricketts is one of my favorite players, and one of the best ever, but that was a situation I didn't like. Anyway, Ricketts was right: Power couln't change the grip in the middle of a game.
Thanks you PSA SquashTV - amazing picture quality fr that era . That's the graceful J Power I remember . Is there similar quality ones fr Janshers and Jahangir ?
I don't understand why the commentator kept referring to a "tie-breaker". "Now they'll play the tie-breaker", as if something different is about to happen. Quite simply you play to 11, but must win by at least 2. I believe he said earlier in the match this was around the time scoring converted to PAR, so I guess he didn't know what else to call it?
I won a game 21-19. It was game 1 and it was exhausting. I lost the next 3 games but was happy I played well against someone who is presently a squash pro.
Joshua Waring too funny. It is funny when you are used to hearing the PSA squash commentators, who are excellent, and then you get an announcer who obviously doesn’t play much. It’s almost amusing what they say.
A lot of early commentary on squash sought constantly to explain strategy and rules despite the fact that only people who are into squash and know all this already actually watch squash games so a lot of unnecessary babble.
A lot of the pre-SquashTV stuff was produced for a local TV channel, rather than an online subscription service so they’re likely to have a higher proportion of non-Squash fans

the same sort of people that cant let other people be to lead their lives as they see fit
Haha. Wierd
Everyone has their own preferences you cannot force someone to like something that you like or that you want them to like
Power is my favorite squash player to watch
16 years ago and it’s still a joy seeing Power beat this guy

@@hamaja18 how very silly at this oevel not to have a spare racquet or two...
@@Orion3T He had many, but with no grip...
I would like to upload that match (or at least that game) some day.
Great times! Power is the man! Insightful commentary by Martin Heath!
And hilarious commentary by the other guy. "Stroke?" "No, that was a no let. " "Down then. The ball was down." No, but thanks for playing.
I think I prefer this camera angle vs today that’s so far back in the stands. This is more engaging.

Great squash, great times!
Immense winner at the end 🥇
Excellent ...
5-2 was a hell of a point!!
So, I don't get it, if it goes into tie break, how many points do you have to win by?
bindestregen 2!

Enjoyed that. Any chance you can post the rest of the match?
Hi there, it's available at: psaworldtour.com/videos/view/4292 😃
The rally's go on for a lot longer than modern squash?
T F no
They'd ask court cleaners to come in and clean Ricketts sweat off the court nowadays.
Who's the Scotsman commentating?
squash tv load up full match?
psaworldtour.com/videos/view/4292
Did they rope that commentator in from the NFL?
Love Power.. How the game has changed tho! Loose line shots aren’t punished.. Just simply reset to the back of the court
Great game. Shame the American commentator doesn't know much about how squash works..
Joshua Waring . The commentator is Canadian ...
Yeah that's Vic Rauter, we get a pass on this one
Jeff Hamilton I'm Australian. They all sound the same to us here, down under.
Benton Mitchell don't know how many times he told us they have to win by two in the tie breaker. :D

Who is the Scottish commentator?
Martin Heath
Power beat Heath in the NYC toc 2000 final. I have the vhs tape...don't see it on youtube though
The games looks very slow compared to squash 10 to 15 years on; must have been a really dead court.

man ricketts is painfully patient player, only ever hits length!
trikle boast was created by rodney martin?!😱
Zijian Ng and that's supposed to be the knowledgeable guy, it goes downhill quickly, talking about "reach" advantage in squash, just too funny..
post a video of some using it as an attack before him.
Qamar Zaman created it
Goddam Vic rauter
Oh damn! Vic Rauter is the worst!
