In this Christmas and Holidays episode of The Little Things, we are going to show select pages from the 1988 Sears Wish Book Christmas Catalog. For a lot of folks who grew up in the 1980s (and well before and a bit after) Christmas-time meant looking at all the merchandise in the giant full color Christmas catalogs from the big department stores of that time. We chose pages from this catalog that depicted merchandise that we felt best represented life in the late 1980s. 1988 is the year that gave us the holiday classics “Die Hard” and “Scrooged” and we all understood a little better how a TV dinner felt. So come to the coast, have a few laughs, and pretend it’s December 1988. You just received this magical tome in the mail and it is time to decide what you want for Christmas. I guess it can, by today's standards. It looks amazing through the lens of nostalgia, though. It is hard for me not to look at some of this stuff and see memories of great times more than the object itself. Thanks for watching!
