I think that is definitely true for some of the classics like CM punk versus MJF, or Cody versus Dustin. It doesn’t really apply to all of them though. Orange Cassidy versus Adam Cole was so stupid
Wardlow delivers some of the best powerbombs i have ever seen, what a beast he is!!
And they're real safe to the way he hugs the whole body on the way down I don't know if you remember when D'Lo Brown powerbombed droz and broke his neck it was just a freak accident but the way Wardlow does his power bombs that accidents 100% avoided because he hugs the body on the way down and pulls the person in doing which actually makes it safer even though it looks more painful

His power bombs are average lol. Go look up some actual hard bombs from the 90’s and watch 2001’s Last Ride by the Undertaker. Probably the most painful single move bump to take in pro wrestling.

I cannot wait for Wardlow to give Shawn Spears the powerbomb symphony. It's going to be so satisfying. Eventually MJF gets them too. This storyline is something special. 2+ years in the making and still going.

Love this feud! The build up to this!! Watching Spears, dead eyed, dragging the chairs down the ramp sells how unhinged he is. MJF is gold (Diamond)
Many had commented that MJF would interfere, who also bribed Top Team and humiliated Wardlow with various cheapshots. Wardlow is going to destroy him and Shawn Spears. LET'S GET THE FEUD STARTED!
Yeah, I was hoping it would turn out different just because it was far too obvious. I wanted to see a swerve of some kind in the story. Everything else with MJF has been awesome, but this could have been done better. Such as Lambert and crew jumping giving Wardlow the win but Scorpio retains the title, MJF could have paid them off as they came backstage. It would have made more sense with a payoff. Then MJF and Spears could have jumped Wardlow while he would be looking for Lambert backstage.

We all knew that Scorpio wouldn't drop the TNT title a week after beating Sammy for it. There had to be some fuckery. It made sense that MJF paid off Top Team to screw Wardlow. This is going to build up to Double or Nothing Memorial Day weekend.
Really liked Dan Lambert's role in all of this, best he's been booked as a heel manager, the distraction to the power bomb symphony was perfect

So glad Punk didn't run out for this one. Their story ended perfectly with each getting a win and can be revisited at a later time. It would have made it so corny with all the run ins that happen.

And had he ran out, people in these comments would be praising it despite what you said being true, aew has way TOO MANY run outs. Many don't even make any sense.
That felt like the real swerve here. It's like "okay, we all know MJF is going to interfere, but obviously CM Punk is gonna save him right?" Nope. Just like how everyone expected MJF to interfere during Wardlow's promo, but it never happened. Again, great restraint on AEW's part; don't go for cheap heat when the face needs the spotlight, don't go for cheap pops when the heel needs the spotlight.
Cody would've ran out and save him if he was still there, god knows he needed new and over allies to make people stop booing him

The MJF-Wardlow feud is going to keep me watching AEW as long as it goes right. This has been building for months and Wardlow is one of my favorites to watch right now. We are literally watching a AEW original becoming a major player and the future of AEW.

This just took me so far back as far as good storytelling and great action I remember watching this kind of stuff in Stampede Wrestling in Calgary back in the 70s 80s. Shenanigans. Classic

Why? If he starts wrestling like a big man and quits the cruiserweight crap. He's getting older. It used to look good when he did it, now it's sluggish and takes away from his matches. As of now, I found nothing he did remotely interesting or impressive. He needs to scrub off the stench of his Impact booking and wrestle like the beast he looks like.

I remember watching this guy in Lucha Underground. I always thought hes gonna be the next big star. Someone his size doing the things he did was just special.

It looked like they meant for MJF to hit him with the ring but something got messed up and MJF chose to bail. A single ram into the post wouldn't normally knock a monster wrestler for a loop like that nowadays.

Do you guys think this rivalry is strong enough on it’s own without a title? I feel like this is amazing, but having a title on the line as well could make it an all timer.
Yeah i was hoping they would hold out on the wardlow turn until MJF won the title, but I feel like this feud will be drawn out a decent while
I think that if this feud works, it could be one of that staples that AEW could revisit at any time with higher and higher stakes, so maybe this initial run doesn't need a title but it's going to lead to a title match in the future.
Personally, I think this feud has enough story that a title wouldn’t really elevate it much. I think Scorpio needed a belt more than either of these two needed a belt, being that Scorpio was falling out of the spotlight.
I also think that MJF should be in line for the big title sooner than later. But I could totally see both points of view!
Would it be stronger with a title? Yes.
Is it strong enough on its own? Still yes.
I appreciate AEW realizing that this feud can stand on its own, so in turn they’re using the title to push Sky at the same time. Nice showcase of talent.

As much as I like Wardlow, and I do, the "in a feud with mjf"-rub is huge, that guy has so much heat. Makes folks pop extra hard for when the face gets his shots in.

They telegraphed the outcome by having this match immediately after last week, Pretty much went how we expected but wardlow should’ve took a finisher after kicking out from the post spot, made him look weak

Like if MJF had ran out of nowhere and jumped on the apron for the distraction then you could believe that because MJF wasn't there before and Wardlow has history with him. But Wardlow knew Lambert was there already and he knew he'd run his mouth (like he always does) so why is he reacting to it? It makes him look like a dumbass.
Apologies for the edits. Wanted to make it clear this wasn't a baseless complaint. As I said I was genuinely looking forward to seeing how they booked this and just feel the way they did it was lame and hurt Wardlow.

@@fake_doktor9241 Wardlow is easily distracted though. That's an ongoing thing with him. Go back and watch a bunch of his recent matches and watch how often he gets sidetracked by the crowd and plays to them instead of finishing the job. Hell, look how he got sidetracked in this match.
Also the Schoolboy pin seems to be Wardlow's kryptonite BECAUSE of how much he gets distracted. That seems to be an ongoing trait. Dont be surprised if this is purposeful. As Wardlow had said in an interview with CVV, MJF loves storytelling and excels at it in the business.
