- In this video we will take an injection pump that is from a 1981 300d, and I will dissemble it for you. I show you the parts of the pump that is DIY'able and the rest is for your curiosity. Most people have never seen inside an injection pump. They are marvels of complexity and the Mercedes pump does not disappoint.
• Mercedes Diesel Inject...
“Never ran better” a clear indication your pump had problems prior to veggie
From what I have seen, I will not underestimate this type of pumps..bullet proof
Have had four diesels and never truly appreciated the design and production in one of these gems. Thanks.
Hey man, awesome video, nicely explained. I'm the owner of 1991 250D and I respect every single piece of it. And it's really easy to understand you as non-native english speaker.
Awesome! Glad you liked it.
Thank you for this super entertaining video. I have the 6cyl version of this pump (OM352 engine). This entire engine is a beauty to look at. So well built, so durable (1.778.000km so far), it's just another world. People who love good and beautiful things can help but loving those. They look a bit like those handbuilt oldtimer engines from the 30's. Total overkill.
i thought 40 minutes is too long but hey, i didn't notice i finished it. simple reason? great, informative & clear video. thumbs up.
that thing is like a priceless swiss watch... great video. thank you so much. i learned many helpful tips about how to replace the primer pump and adjust the idle. and now i understand more deeply just how beautiful these cares are. all those little parts are gorgeous. new cars are such a let down. i don't care for them at all.
Pretty awesome showing the inside I definitely would pass i'm taking one of these apart Reminds me of working on transmissions Thanks for sharing
thank you for the educational tour of an injection pump!!!
Heart of mercedes, even more reason to love my w123 Tank.
Some of your terminology jargon was very entertaining but accurate enough... you did a great job regardless of what other experts think ... you'd be helping someone greatly along the way in their knowledge search... Big thanks ... it was worth watching...keep up the great work..
Thanks for this: especially for the shot of taking the old primer off and giving me encouragement to put the new one on. Also, thanks for the precautions: I don't really have a problem here, but finding out the engine oil goes through this may lead me to run some SEA FOAM in the oil to clear things up. Appreciate the time and effort!!!!!!!!!!!
Brilliant demonstration- enjoyed the video !
I have always been curious about these, learned a valuable lesson, the technicians earn the price of a rebuild.
Thanks for the vid..taking out the pump in a 87 SDL this wkend..you're weren't joking when you said complex!!
👍I don't even realised that i spend 40 minutes when watching this. Thanks for instructive video😃
I always said 240/300 have two engines and now my thoughts are confirmed-- very complicated piece of equipment.
Interesting - the 1975 406 sitting in the driveway is beginning to show signs of wear in the fuel system. I need to get it ready to plow snow in Northern Nevada. Kind of hard to get motivated after a heart attack in February though. Thank for for posting your video so, so many years ago! I have a few more things to look into now.
No wonder they Redesigned these MW pumps and made the M pumps . M pumps are a bit easier to work with .
That Nut , near the end , that defeated you needs a type of Pin Wrench or a Small C-wrench . It probably isn't very tight .
Entertaining Video .
Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I learn something new today !!
I ran wvo in my 1986 Isuzu Trooper II turbo diesel for years with no problem. Not biodiesel, maybe that would attack the seals. I think the key is too get the wvo very clean and very hot right at the injection pump.
Quit being so negative about do it yourselfers. Everyone around me was the same way about manual transmissions, but I just decided to try it myself and figure it out and now I’m a standard transmission specialist
Very complicated work thanks for explanation
Thank you for doing this! Man I wish you took a Dremel cut off wheel to that castle nut! I know MB used to sell delivery valves for these pumps! I’m going to change mine! Pray for me!
helpful for my understanding of this pump. thanks
Thank You for this video. It has helped me understand what is wrong with my injection pump :)
And for those that think Mercedes is just "another" car!!!
There you go. watch and learn. At Mercedes they don`t make cars. They manufacture MERCEDES
Be sure to know there is another thing that causes shakey idle. I had a mercedes that acted the exact way he describes and it was just a bad motor mount. At idle, the rubber bounces on the mount, but when given pedal, it torqued to the side and didnt have a surface to bounce on. Just something to look at.
Very good knowledgeable person thanks
Thanks, now I would like to know how it all works
Very interesting video
For someone who knows Mercedes diesels, this guy made a fatal error by running WVO through the regular fuel tank. WVO should be run through a parallel fuel system (Golden, Greasecar, etc) where it can be properly heated and the viscosity reduced.
For use in the regular fuel tank, the WVO should be cut into Biodiesel, thereby reducing viscosity and offering very nice lubricity for the pump and other parts. Caveats: this process involves using dangerous chemicals (methanol and either potash (potassium hydroxide) or lye (sodium hydroxide)). Also, Biodiesel will slowly eat away at rubber fuel lines, making them gummy and cause seepage so be sure to upgrade fuel lines as well.
my 300sd idled really rough so I took all of my delivery valves out and put them into a ultrasonic cleaner and cleaned all the carbon and rust off of them and now my car idles so smooth but one of my delivery valves are leaking diesel from the threads now. I assume my copper washer under the delivery valve isn't sealing anymore. I was hoping you would show how to take the copper washer out at 20:40. I guess I just need a metal pick
At about 20:40 did you try and remove the copper washer with a magnet.. ;)
😂😂
I enjoyed the periodic “moans” because he full well knows some idiot will proceed to disassemble their unit then complain in the comments here that it messed his pump up. Lol. Great video, I do a lot of repairs myself, but you’ve convinced me to go another route with my repair and let a professional attack it.
Amazing stuff
I removed the delivery valves and replaced the copper washers with no problem. Replacing the washers reduced the fuel leak significantly, but there is still a small leak. It looks like I'll have to replace the o-ring at the top of the delivery valve barrel.
we have one in class that's cut in half so u can turn the gear and see everything move inside.
Fantastic!
at 19:45 you get into the danger zone yes, but problem is that if you whant to do a check on the timing on the injectionpump by doing the droptest you'll have to get in there and remove the spring on top and the x-formed valve before you can check timing on the pump. I didn't knew how sensitive this is before but now I will be verry carreful and scared next time.
thank you
Thanks for this movie 👍🏻
Your welcome sir!
dieselworld
I can testore cars and overhaul engines, but this is very complicated stuff, because it has
way way more parts than the engine it's mounted on. Hell, if i would have take this apart, i better
take a picture from every piece i would remove, because else i would never ever being able
to put it back together again.
Unless you have the Bosch calibration machine to reset it would never work again.
+dieselworld Did you continue running the car on waste veggi oil with the new pump? If so, any problems by now? Do you think the same would have happened with new raps oil or clean biodiesel? I tried new unused raps oil on my MB the other day. Engine runs smoother than ever so far. Do you think I will have the same problem if I continue?
Thanks I always was curious about how they are inside,
Great video btw. 👍
Thanks
Thanks.
the back part is the governor, the pump has to be recalibrated on a diesel injector pump tester to get it pumping the correct amount of fuel out of each outlet, every adjustment is critical, where its has a nut locking on a shaft scenario has to be put back as original dimensions as per Bosch application, you also have to know how to identify if a parts worn out, otherwise try a rotary pump, easier,
Thank you!
Never seen thoughs pumps go bad, usually a clogged injector or misalign injector tip, should have turned fuel ALDA up for high revs then down , until pressure achieved, once misfuel injector opens up, level back down alda valve for quick service, allong with a chemical run through diesel service and Gucci 🏁🙌🔧🍻
How many bolts I have to remove before pull out injection pump? Thanks.
At 26:49 lol "I'm not a Bosch professional" but what you took off was controlled by the circular thing ( alda valve ) controls the pressure of fuel by the way.
Thanks for making this.
No it doesn’t, it limits rack travel.
Can you shoot a video on how to install and time one of these injection pumps into a 617 engine?
How I can can to increase more power in the pump ???
If I have removed the upper parts of the bore from 19:30 up to 20:39, what damage could have been done to them? Are you saying the magnet damages them or are you talking about physical deformation? Please help, I'm dealing with a older w110.
dieselworld
Can any standard fuel pump replace the fuel pump connected to the diesel pump? Or is the pressure of this original pump higher?
Super
I have been burning veggie in 603 and 662s about 20 years no problems
What is that part near the top of the injector valves on the side? It looks like a burst diaphragm of some sort.
this is the perfect example of never touch a running system
hi you cant remove the pistons please
Aren't all the general 1 w126 300sd pumps like this?
What difference is there between a mechanical diesel pump and a high compression pump or do they work on the same principal in regards to clean vegetable oil and diesel mix?
knurled nuts? are you talking about 12-point?
If you put glow plugs on that thing you can make a 5 cylinder rc engine
this pump is from a turbo 300d engin
No, its from a naturally aspirated engine. The turbo versions have a square ALDA.
Im Just sad Mine doesnt have No Primer Pump and in the Shaft where there is your Roll, Mine has a pin that Goes in and out
Edification?
Certainly edifying.
What was the problem? It looked everything fine to me XD .. except you not being able to spin the shaft.. my M51 engine is not idling very well when hot, so there will be no side effects using WVO since it already needs repair.. am I right (maybe not)?
I watched for a wile. The video is nice but one BIG thing is missed: The guy should tell the function of each part of the pump. In other words, the video is just recreational. It should be educational.
as he clearly said and he said many times that even for him it is the first time he sees the inside of the injection pump so bear with him.
judging by the pile your leaving behind. this wont be rebuilt or put back together
Amazing.. Thank you..
i have a pompe that the sprins its filed
Where location is your shop? what city and state?
Top
Russell I got a 603.097 diesel the bottom IP gasket leaks oil where can one get the gaskets for this.
learned on running small diesels yanmar ,chinese 10hp ,kubota 2 cyl 482 and found veggie oil wrecks diesels .. so i add about a liter or 2 to my fill up along with a little 2cyl oil to my mercedes all diesels get 90% diesel less costly
+L Pi You will have to go to a shop that rebuilds the pumps and see if they can sell you one.
+dieselworld the was fast response, i live in the country would you know a supplier ? love the sound of a IP some sound sweeter then others
ran svo in my87 sdl for several years. It was the climate control that eventually
convinced me to stop putting money into the car... no problems w/ engine, inj. pump, etc. Pros will *often* tell you that it's the biofuel, just because of their own biases/ignorance
ممتاز
Am so interested with
😎👍
I really appreciate your video thank you. But are you serious about blaming the pump failure on lack of lubrication due to using waste vegetable oil? Vegetable oil offers far more lubrication than diesel.
Don't know who told you that but its NOT true.
@@GwinnettLawns I have been running waste vegetable oil as fuel in 4 different vehicles for over 3 years. 3 of he vehicles have om602 Mercedes engines. The car with the most distance on vegetable oil has done over 80,000km of its 160,000km life on waste vegetable oil and runs quieter and smother on wvo than diesel. Zero problems. The wvo MUST be from a good source and properly settled, filtered and dewatered. It's NOT enough to just pass it through a few filters. I would suggest the issues this gentleman faces with his pump was due to the way the wvo was processed, existing damage and wear on the pump and possibly driving conditions. We do mostly highway driving. Everyone is very quick to blame wvo and not these other factors when trying to work out what happened to their vehicle.
@@NaughtyGoatFarm what if you mix wvo and diesel, wouldn't that make it cheaper than only diesel, and better oiling capabilities than only wvo?

Недоконца разборка надо кулачковый вал выташить и плунжера а так пустая болтавня рейку только выташил а остальные осталось на месте🤨
does every one in the world have the same drivers side ? in there car
"back half" = governor
You don't explain very well why you think it's impossible to rebuild. If the pump is leaking from the barrel, why can't we replace the copper washers and o-rings of the barrel? If I were to measure and label every piece from the barrel disassembly and assemble them exactly according to which cylinder they came from, there wouldn't any problem if the shim and o-ring were the right size, would there?
+twingo hon hon hon You don't seem to understand. Putting new washers in the pump is NOT going to fix the wear in the barrel. If you take the barrel loose, then the pump is out of calibration and you will Never get it right unless you put it on a calibration machine.
shair 8 celander latest Mercedes pump repair
Long time coming, but regarding the wate veggie oil conversion, couldn't you put an additive in the fuel to increase the lubricating properties of the veggie oil?
He didn't really say whether or not his vehicle has a heated fuel system. Veg oil is not going to be the proper viscosity unless heated to at least 160° F. If your going to add anything to the wvo you mine as well make biodiesel
How are
Is it the mechanical pump or the vacuum one?

Its all about you huh?

Ya kinda a waist of a video. I really wanted to know how the thing works. I see no reason why I cant rebuild this thing. Sure lots of parts. Be careful and label the parts/photo them while dissembling. Anywone know of any good educational vids on injection pumps? not a lot of info out there one them.
Speak concisely if posting
Very Good but verbose ,being repetive in wording and ahhs.
Who asked you and who cares?????
It is a idiotic way to Sate technical information .not consice, bumbling along. Not well educated person
Public reply is for that .
Technical bit good. Narration Not consise Too many ahhs that of a idiot lacking educated touch
Your sentence grammar is horrible. Perhaps get some tutoring and practice writing before wasting everyone's time with your useless pontificating.
