The knowledge that I’ve gained from watching you is priceless. I always knew I wanted a huge perma-culture garden but you have inspired me to just garden in general.
Me too!🤩
Same here! There are so many I would have poo poo'd until I watched Laura talk them up!
What is a perma-culture garden? Just curious. Laura has inspired me too! I’m not a big gardener or anything like that, but prior to watching Laura’s videos, we only had sod in our front yard… not one shrub! Now, I have two big garden beds, they are all equipped with a irrigation system and most neighbors say I have the prettiest yard on the block! It makes me super proud🌻
@Nola Girl do you live in New Orleans?
I discovered gardening during Covid with Laura ❤❤❤ and I have never had as much extra spending cash since hahaha
A few years ago I started watching garden answer for inspiration and over time, learned so much more, like today’s seed tutorial. My absolute favorite gardening channel. I must also comment that it’s been fun watching the transformation of your property, watching your family grow and everyone in my family waits to see Cheddar and Russell, as they are as fun as anything else on Garden Answer’s channel.
Ditto eventing you said!!
I grow the champagne hollyhocks and I love it in the morning because the bumblebees are all bedded in them sleeping. So cute!
I don’t have hollyhocks but I find bees sleeping in sunflowers and artichoke flowers. I love to find them like that!
We grow the champagne hollyhocks in our 7A Willamette Valley Garden too! They get about six feet tall for us and are stunning!
Do you have Japanese Beetles that destroy them? Any suggestions? They eat the leaves to nothing and destroy the flowers! Roses and Hibiscus are also their favorites! So sad!
@@donnalemon5880 I, too, have the blight of Japanese Beetles… criminey…
Russell is such a momma's boy! He was so happily snuggled on the chair smelling your jacket. Sweet cat.♡
I love your cats, thanks for including them, they are a joy to see while I have my coffee and listen to you.
It cracks me up when you get after the cats. I have that same discussion with mine on an almost daily basis lol!!
When you think you may be planting "way too many" cut flowers - remember the faces of those gentle souls now needing full time care. They loved your flowers Laura, as well as the attention. Play piano and you and your Mum sing hymns. I love Rose's jams because of the jars they use!
Where I live in S.E. Michigan Black-eyed Susan’s can be quite aggressive and have elbowed out some of my other perennials. So I’ve been pulling it out and giving it to friends who want it for specific problem areas on their land.
What seed companys are these seeds coming from?
I just realized watching this video - it’s been a year. Something similar to this is how I found you last year and it’s been a solid year of GA videos every morning. I am *not* mad about that ☺️ thank you for all the inspiration and the timely reminders of garden tasks (I’m also a zone 6a)
**** SPRING is coming!!! **** So excited about this educational video! North Carolina is now 40 night time and 60 days...............I see the trees blooming and birds singing.....time to plant!
I have columbine around the trunk of my tall white spruce and it's loving its life. And around the columbine I have hostas. I love how the columbine pokes up through some of the hosta leaves.
I’m amazed how you can keep all that information in your head . I love perennials but my mind turns into a pretzel trying to remember how each one likes to be planted . This year I plan to sow one raised bed full of a few varieties and put row cover on since I don’t have a greenhouse. Thanks for all the information!
Don’t start outside until the soil starts to warm up.
Hey don’t be too hard on yourself. She’s been doing this professionally for years and has said she often refreshes herself on details f before filming.
@@jgwood10 it kind of depends on the seed. I have several that I am starting now, because they need the temperature fluctuations in order to sprout.
I found myself coveting what I believe was a lavender plant beside you on your workbench, beautiful! Always enjoy seeing Russel and Cheddar. You provide such great information. So helpful when I think of starting seeds. As always I am so grateful for the time you take to do these videos and the inspiration you provide. An aside: Russel, "Mom said we had to share." Cheddar, "Mom's not looking........*love bite*" lol
I AGREE ADDING A PERENNIAL CUT GARDEN IS GOOD IDEA. I HATE CUTTING MY PERENNIAL PLANTS OUT OF GARDEN . MAY DO THE SAME IN MY SMALL SPACE.! YOU HAVE SUCH GREAT SPACES TO TO ALL OF THIS . KEEP US INSPIRED AND YOURSELF THANKS.
Easy on those capitals...it's the written equivalent of screaming at everyone.
@@georgekoutsoudopoulos I’m lazy early morning didn’t want to take time to go to lower case lol sorry wasn’t screaming too much coffee up since 4 am🤣💃🏻
You make everything look so easy, and I love watching you gather supplies from the barn…I watch daily. Thank you
Campanula have AMAZING vase life. Got some valentines day and still doing great. i bought seeds the next day bc such an adorable flower.
I can't believe I've finally caught up to your daily posts! My late fall Google research for next years gardening ideas brought your posts up quite often, (thanks for helping me get my amarylis to rebloom 🙂), so I started to explore more, and decided I really needed to go back a few years to follow your progression..... I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! Thank you so much for sharing so much detail, and your private paradise.
I'm gardening in 5b southern Québec, Canada, so it's fascinating to see your side of a 5b (ok 6 lucky you!) compared to ours. We have a few more months before we see anything green here 🤪
So, thank you again, for helping me get through our long cold winter with all your beautiful & inspiring videos! ✌️
Good morning, Laura! I'm in South Louisiana, zone 9a. I love perennials and have been adding more to my garden each year.
Love, love, LOVE seed planting videos! Thank you for putting them in alphebetical order!
Just watching you plant seeds makes me motivated! Thank you for all you do!
I’m getting VERY excited for spring now that I’ve watched this! Thank you again, such useful plant information.
Love seeing all the growing plants in the green house. Looks like spring is near.
It's getting me in mood for planting flowers and a garden. Loved all your flower seeds.
Bring us along for all the rearranging too when the time comes as I love to see organization of the greenhouse videos too.
Thank you for all the advice over the few years I've been watching your channel..
This year my husband helped me make 2 garden boxes for veggies. We also planted a blueberry and raspberry bush. We planted more roses and 2 Rose of Sharon trees. And I have many plants im starting from seed to plant in the garden boxes and flower beds around my yard...
Amazing video, this makes me want Spring that much more. Thank you Laura for all the great information you always give us. It helps so much.
All those flowers r so beautiful! Can’t wait until they bloom! Thanks
Can’t wait to break outside and see spring yet with all those beautiful seeds that will turn into flowers!!! 🌺🌷💐🌹
Just so good to see you starting to do your seeds and you got some really beautiful seeds from some beautiful flowers to grow can't wait to seed how they do. Just so rewarding to plant seeds as you get so much more for just so little.
Here we go again love this time of year, I love it when u wake up and the sun is just starting to come up it makes u happy. Beautiful flower collection. God bless u and urs.
Thank you for posting this project. I can’t wait to see how it’s looking in a few months.
Good Morning! 🌷 I can't wait for the color! All those seeds will grow into beautiful flowers for cut flower arrangements!! 😃🪻🌷🌹🌸🌼🌿💚
Amazing, your greenhouse is starting to look like your own garden center. Beautiful.
My foxglove reseeded and I have 6 sets of blooms this year ❤
I just had an aha moment with the Canterbury bells I started from seed last year. Totally missed that they were biannual. Thanks for sharing! Looks like you are going to need more greenhouse tables for all the seed starting.
Your excitement is infectious!!! Makes me want to get out there and dig in the dirt. 😅
Thank you for your gardening know-how!!
Good morning Laura!! Ahhhh...just perfect watching with morning coffee. I am blessed. Hugs from N.C..❤️
Thank you for sharing this info, I have gained a great deal of knowledge from you. I have started my seeds 4 weeks ago. After seeing your series of beautiful landscapes. I have decided to up my gardening and can't wait to plant my seedlings out in my garden. I always wanted to add delphiniums they are so beautiful. You have inspired me to improve my garden with flowers. I have been gardening since I was 10 years old and I love it. ❤❤
Good morning Laura and family
Lots of stunning seeds can't wait until they bloom. Thank you as always for sharing have a great rest of the day. 👋🙂🌸🌻🌷
Love, Love, Love your videos!!! OMG!! How I have learned so muchhhhhh! Thank you for sharing Laura!!
Awesome video! Perfect timing! I was just searching for your other seed videos! And thank you for uploading so early I really appreciate it! Love you guys! 🌻
I love the many different camera angles you used during the planting section of this video! I know that must make it so much more complicated, but it doesn't go to waste!
Love that I'm growing all your flowers (except the eryngium). I have all of these seeds on damp paper towels in the fridge for cold stratification. I had poor germination (except the Foxglove) because I didn't plant when cool. Some just germinated!
Seeing all that color is so refreshing!
I bought a couple of the Summer Pastels Yarrow as 4 inch plants. I planted them in the fall of 2021 and they got huge last summer! I may have to divide one of them this spring. They were excellent for cutting - very long and strong stems.
❤I love your videos. Your motivate me to garden.
🌸My Hollyhocks have grown so tall. I planted my seeds way back in 2018. Last year my Hollyhocks were at least 8-10 feet tall. 🌸
Have a blessed week everyone 🙏❤️🤗
All those seeds are going to look amazing in your garden . I can’t wait to see them all flourishing . It’s awesome to watch your videos somehow my coffee always tastes better , lol 🌼🌸🌼
Hi Editors, the piece of music chosen in this vlog is so relaxing - chef’s kiss 👩🍳💋
I planted some dahlias, cosmos and Lillie’s in the garden yesterday. It’s gonna be in the 80’s this week.
Hi from Swedish Lapland! I have just recently discovered your vlogs, and now i want to watch them all! You are soo inspireing! Thank you! 🌷🌻🍀
Looking fantastic. Everything is coming up great. Lots of seeds it going to look amazing. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
This was great!! So helpful! I have collected all my seeds, jugs, and toilet paper rolls 😅 almost go time for me!! 🌱
So fun to watch. I’m getting anxious for seed starting and spring!
Good morning! Another informative video. I’m learning so much from your daily videos. Missed your video yesterday. Looking forward to seeing the results.
Thanks so much! Will be doing some of these this yr for sure!
If we don't get to see the kids or Laura's mom, I always love seeing the cats! 🐈🐈
Cheddar is such a ‘cheeseball’ 😂. Thanks for all the tips. I’m afanof the English cottage style garden with foxgloves, hollyhocks etc.
Would love a video on direct sowing when weather permits. Thank you…your channel is the best!
I don’t know if it’s our climate or what but I planted some Camelot foxglove and they bloomed the first year. I planted some in full shade and some in full sun. Full shade did the best. I’m done 8a and I’m so hoping they’ll come back this year. Such beautiful blooms.
My foxglove missed the seed itself in same area. It’s all over the yard but I love it and deer wouldn’t dare touch. It’s breathtaking early summer to see the blooms. Columbine another reseeder for me, which is not a problem as the hummingbird comes looking for it while waiting for bee balm. Love planting for wildlife. 😊
When twizzle coral came up on the screen, the colour was VERY complimentary to your complexion. Beauty! 😀
You just amaze me.
Another fantastic video. Laura you are everything ❤️
just about all my favorites❤❤
Great video. Can't wait to see all the beautiful color this spring or summer.
One caveat on hollyhocks, make sure they are not on an invasive species list for your area, they will drop hundreds of seeds unless cut back before seed pods dry and drop seeds. They are absolutely beautiful and so fun to grow but be careful or they will overtake more space than you give them. Also, I would love to see a project where you start a heritage garden for your area. I am working on a native garden this year, but it would be so fun to see how you would plan and approach that type of project.
Good morning! Oh to have a greenhouse!
I know. I was thinking the same too! If I had one during these cold winter months, I do not think I’d be daydreaming about moving further South!!
You introduced us to swallowtail seeds. Thank you so much they are our new favorite
what a great video! so much information and the "key moments' up there is just a great idea... i don't know if i'm the only one (i doubt it), but i always have a pad and pencil at the ready and take notes... usually there's something in every video, even the antiquing ones, that gives me inspiration in some form or fashion... having that greenhouse, with the Hartley and the studio??? heaven for seed starting and production... so much fun! and i have fun watching you do all the work, haha... have a great week!! 🥰❤thanks for the video!! 🥰❤
Hi Laura, I really enjoy these type of videos about seeds and the plants that they amazingly grow into. Thanks so much for these informative videos. I notice that you rarely follow through on the progression of the seeds 'growth journey', from seeds through to flowers. It would be enormously appreciated if you would share the stages of the young plants growth, right through to how the flowers look in bouquets. You are such a gifted florist Laura, just like your talented mum. It was inspiring to see how the zinnia seeds you planted grew into such a beautiful salmon-coloured display in one of your flowerbeds. I have been gardening for most of my life, but it never ceases to amaze me how just planting a few relatively inexpensive seeds can grow into a showy floral display. It is evidence that anyone who knows how to plant seeds in the correct way for that variety or species, can grow plants. They do not have to pay a lot of money for established plants to put in their garden-bed and they still a stunning floral display. It would be so encouraging, and interesting to see the reality of what happens to many of the seeds that you plant; yes, a follow up of their performance and where they end up in your garden. It would also be good to know about the seeds that require specific conditions in order to germinate, especially for those of us that live in warmer climates. As a gardener myself, I am always learning about new growing techniques but most of all - new plant varieties! How very exciting.
Pretty amazing what a little itty bitty seed can create.
What you for the information you give. You are a great help in my decision on what to plant.
Perennials sound like fun!! 🎉 I’ve finally realized we are both in same zone. Climate here in southeastern Ohio is radically different. Lots of rain. Along the Ohio river. Fly, Ohio little town. Foothills of Appalachia n mountains. Marietta Ohio about 30 miles south of us.
I'm in Columbus, same zone! Watching GA has made me appreciate our trees & that we don't have to water as much.
Are you all ok after the train in East Palestine? Have been praying for everyone in those areas
Amazing. Wish I was there!
I was really needing some inspiriation today thanks Laura!!
I start my digitalis foxgloves in the autumn. At the moment they are around 3 inches tall. I’ve another load that are a small seedling with 3 to 4 leaves and I’ll start another batch in a couple of weeks. They are my favourite.
Thanks!
So much information! Laura remembered all 10 varieties IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER!
I have Canterbury Bells, I winter sowed mine and they did fantastic!
Excellent collection 🌸💗🌸
Laura you make it look so easy that I just want to go out and do it however it will take me a bit because I need to reorganize the garden I have
I surely did ENJOYED IT 😃👍❤
I noticed that you put string lights in your greenhouse. Would love to see a night view of them on, sure it’s beautiful with all your growing plants.
Would love to hear your tips on certain seeds like you were talking about with echinacea. What works best for which or what mistakes you learned from.
You inspire me each video!
Whoop Whop!! I am so excited for spring. So far everything I have started is up and looking fantastic! I did start poppies and larkspur in winter sowing jugs...Zone 3b Saskatchewan Canada
I love the idea of covering with vermiculite - i'll be doing that from now on!
I just subscribed as Holly from Lake and Lace suggested you. I will come back in a minute to watch this video. Looking forward to learning from you!
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing.
I tried winter sowing some of those mentioned and they sprouted here in zone 6B (this year 2023) So I brought them indoors and am growing them under lights.
Good morning! 🌻🐝
Wow I am so excited to how they do
All your plants are looking great, love your cats
Good morning all have a safe and blessed day 🥰
You too!!
Really like the little basket with the seed bags in it.. Maybe from your family's garden centre?
I have only just discovered green twister hope I have success in growing rows and rows. Love your site here in UK
I was cleaning up one of my garden beds and found that my yarrow has started to grow. I love the fern like leaves, I don't mistake them for weeds. Here in KY zone 6 we had a deep unexpected freeze and looks like I lost a lot of plants, but I'll just wait and see. Hopefully, my hydrangeas will come back - it's a wait and see. Such sad news that my small local garden center (25 yrs) is moving because some developer has gotten the go ahead to start building a monstrosity complex. 😥
Same here on wondering if my plants are going to rebound after those extremely cold weeks we had. I live in North Arkansas and had to be on the generator for 4 days.
Same here in 7b. My ivy that grows up my chimney for 20 years looks completely dead 😢 waiting to see what survived in my garden too! And my so over these greedy developers!!!their in our city too and just destroying our scenic city with townhomes. The greed is unbelievable.!!!I call them the "Nothing" cause they remind me of the never-ending story and how they destroy the land!!!
💜🎶Good morning Garden Answer.. Hey Laura.. Thanks 💜🎶🇨🇦
