Big Kudos to Mads, he kept his line and actually moved away from the barriers a bit when he saw Girmay next to him to ensure a clean sprint. Well deserved win by Girmay!

So awesome to see Girmay take that stage today, I’m so glad to see him finally get his flowers after that crash not so long ago. Great rider, and a historic moment that is really not lost on him. Kudos!

Wow, it's so easy for even pros to crash, that knife edge contact patch just needs a thimble full of oil, grease or even spit to slip out from under you.

Why did Jonas get the same time as everyone else? His group certainly had more than a 3 second gap to the group in front of him, and as far as I can tell, he wasn't part of the crash. Just trying to understand these rules.
there a a rule for the final 3 km... to protect from cashes in a sprint preparation, like this, if there are a crash riders involved or affacted get same time as winner. (more less like this)
Today the rule was that if you make it to 5km to go then you get the same time as the rest of the group.
Typically it is 3k from the finish.

@@nishiki7047 not just MVDP either. I've done some looking into this subject. Yes, you can quite literally micro dose EPO at 11pm and test completely clean at 6am (7 hours later). It's a very real thing but I feel like there is a new substance or a new cocktail not yet detectable that's in use. I could be wrong but there's even more confidence than we usually see. They KNOW they won't be caught. They must have a new substance or something

Let's be honest, road racing is a shit sport. People squeezing others against the barriers, risking serious injury, others trailing cars, again others being dragged by cars when being handed waterbottles and stuff. Downhill MTB is a real sport. Every man or woman for themselves, a start, a finish, fastest person down wins. Sure there's been some nasty tactics involved in the past, but I feel like that hasn't been the case lately.

Definitely thought the history being made was Cavendish winning, but that was a great sprint.
I'm a HUGE fan of Cav. Followed his whole career and even I knew better than to know it was his win. I'm hoping stage 6 or 10. If he makes it to stage 16 that's actually his best chance to win I believe
