I broke it! VW splitscreen repairs gone wrong.

Well that didn’t go to plan!
In this episode, Chris changes a gearbox mount, a simple fix which ends in disaster. Breaking an air strut isn’t ideal, after discussions with a few others in the industry it turns out these particular struts have a habit of snapping the bottom thread off inside the body, thankfully it happened in the workshop. But now we’ve got to find a new pair of air struts to replace them, taking the split out of action for atleast a couple weeks. But whilst under the van you can see the new remote brake booster servo, a great purchase to upgrade the drum brakes on this 60+ year old van.

Yep problem has happened on my air ride split bus, snapped and I also have a engine brace as well 😞 ordered a cb performance one which is heavy duty hopefully that works. When I put my bus on the lift I have to dump all the air out otherwise ill do damage too😉

It would be nice to change the whole front setup to wishbones. But now isn’t the time, gotta get it fixed and back on the road asap for the rest of the summer fun 🤩
