- Using my formula will allow you to get the size of basket you want for your projects.
This rectangle shaped basket with rounded corners will allow for 3 large TP rolls or whatever you want to store in your basket.
This rope basket requires no sewing machine as it is all glued together.
Full step by step video so you can make this basket too.

very beautiful!! your teaching style is easy to follow. I like that you show every little thing you need to do.
Thanks so much for commenting. My videos are always on the long side as I teach classroom style so you know exactly what to do.
I'm not sure if you realize this, but I joined several different "Rope Bowl" Facebook groups and so many people recommend your channel for new ideas and for beginners. Just thought I'd let you know😊
That is awesome! Glad everyone is enjoying my rope bowl tutorials. Thanks for letting me know.
@@CraftyPattiArtsCraftsWhat did you use to wipe your cutting board to get the glue off it? I am now seeing that you’re cleaning the clips with rubbing alcohol. I hope you can tell me what to clean out cutting boards with ?
I just used dish soap as the glue was still wet. Got smarter and protected my cutting board later in the video.
We use the lengt minus the width for the starting length .
Yes! Exactly.
Beautiful bowl! Great tutorial, thank you. 😊
Thank you too!
Another video, awesome. I’ve tried to do baskets but for some reason they look weird. I’ll give this one a try, love it.
Well I hope this time it doesn’t look weird but beautiful!
Great colors!
My fav beachy teal colours too!
Good instructions, enjoyed watching it.
Glad to hear it!
Awesome job
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks so much!
Linda ❤👏👏👏👏🇧🇷
Thanks!
Love this basket!! I was thinking that a person could sew the bottom and then glue the sides to start the straight edge and then once it’s started you could sew. Just thinking that it would go faster. Not sure if that would work! Thanks for the great video and instructions!!!
Yes! That’s what I was thinking too! But couldn’t show that for a tutorial as anyone without a sewing machine would not be able to do this project. So I had to glue it all. It might look a bit inconsistent if you glue part and sew a part of it but it would go faster for sure.
Yes…..it might look inconsistent.
There is a product called Stiffen, a spray on. I habe used it on 2 of my bowls and like the results. The sides of the rope bowls get firm. might want to compare the 2 products. I will make this hold. Great idea.
I will check it out. Thanks for letting everyone know!
you reply to every comment!!!!!! 💗
I try
This is genius! Thanks for explaining how to make the size you want. It makes total sense! I love that fabric glue. I use this and beacon fabric-tac glue and am wondering if you’ve tried it. It’s kinda my go to and dries much faster than aleens fabric glue and is just as strong…..though doesn’t dry shiny. Just curious?
Haven’t tried that brand yet so thanks for letting us know.
It’s a bag makers absolute favorite! ❤ not tacky at all!
Good to know. Thanks!
Great video Patti - was wondering if you considered gluing with a hot glue gun? Would have to be very careful so it doesn't show, but I was thinking that may make the sides firmer, making them stand up and it sets up so fast you wouldn't need clips.. All that gluing would drive me nuts! I think I will definitely sew bottom and top lid and then glue all the vertical portions. Seems like the mod podge would further strengthen the sides. You are the best teacher on UA-cam!!
I used the fabric glue because it is permanent and washable. I find hot glue does not work the best for the rope bowls.
Lots of comments on sewing some parts and gluing some. This will work but for the video I needed to keep it consistent so glued the whole basket. Especially for those that do not own sewing machines. It will be fun to try different methods for sure. Enjoy!
@@CraftyPattiArtsCraftsthank you , I do not own a sewing machine. And I like that if I use this glue that you used that I can do this slowly. And wash the bowls. As they can get dusty. And also I am good with using these clips as I go. Also and wondering the cost of this craft? And what other fabric maybe we can use, that is the cost that I am worried about, crafting can get pricey when living on a fixed income. Anyways thank you for taking time to slowly show us how to make things. I’ve watched two of your videos so far. Cloth paper one and thus one.
The rope is anywhere from $10-$20 depending on where you live and where you buy it.
Try going to second hand stores for the fabric to save money.
All crafts have some expense to them but of course it’s the fun in making something homemade.
I’m wondering if the tackiness of the mod podge and fabric fusion lessened or went away after a few days. Can you let us know please?
Love your tutorials! Very clear and thorough instructions. Thank you so much!
Also, I see your videos are recommended to watch in the rope bowl groups I’ve joined. I recommend your videos often as well. In my opinion, you make the absolute best tutorials. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise. ❤
The Aleene’s fabric fusion is good to go. The Mod Podge will take a bit longer. I put on a pretty thick coat.
@@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts thank you 😊
I love the basket. It's been a few days since you posted, any update on the stickiness?
It’s less sticky everyday. Confident that it will be fine.
Could you sew until you get to sides? Glue the next few and then sew the rest one the correct angle is obtained.
You can sew the base if you want and see how it goes for you. I glued the whole basket for those that do not have sewing machines.
Question, do you think it would work if you sewed the bottom, then glued only one or two rows to get you started on the correct angle and then sew again for the rest of the height?
You can but for this video kept it all glued for those that do not have sewing machines.
I know you’re cutting on the bias but how do you keep your fabric from fraying?
Cutting on the bias eliminates some fraying but not all of it. For this type of wrap you will get some fraying if you are sewing the basket but next to none if you are gluing the basket.
Since its glued, how would you be able to clean it?
I would vacuum any collected dust and use a wet cloth to wipe off any dirt. Or gentle hand wash as I did use fabric glue which is washable.
How much practice should someone that has NEVER done this craft do before trying this basket.
I give lots of instructions to be successful. It is easier to glue a rope basket than sew it so you should be okay.
Great question, great advice!
Thanks!
Wouldn’t it be easier to sew the strips together end to end like you doing making jelly roll projects? And then you would have a more even transition between colors
Yes, You can do that as well. I have shown that in some of my rope bowl videos. I try to change it up so I’m not showing the same techniques in my videos. I do find that the seams when sewn create a bit more bulk so just have to press in those areas a bit more when working your rounds.
@@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts I don’t disagree with how you did it but for me being a beginner it might help to control the tightness of the wraps. I am making some today so I am just trying to see what might work easier.
Yeah! Glad you are giving it a go! Do what works best for you for sure!

Thanks for comment
Can you use a glue gun? This looks like fun!!!
I find glue guns are harder to control for the amount of glue coming out and the glue I used will hold up better as well.
