2005 - The year Klokov got his elusive Gold at Doha. Also, the year he achieved his main ambition for the time - totaling more than his father at the 105+ category, weighing all 3kg more than his usual 105. Of course he would have felt invincible, and while he would have been careful and utilized the perfection of technique, as has always done, training demanded Klokov to strive for the 260+ rack jerk which brought the shoulder injury that plagued him until the end of his career. An injury which nevertheless didn't stop him obtaining the most important silver of his life, at the 2008 Olympic games, following a series of bronzes the prior years.
I remember seeing Niku Vlad warming up in 1990 ( Canberra). You never forget it when these guys warm up . They are in a league of their own...AWSOME !!
If you have problems with the front squat, generally it's because of lack of flexibility in the wrists, or triceps. The front squat however, helps your posture a lot more once you get it right and hits the quads quite hard.
At 0.48 the guy in the red shirt picks up what appears to be a yellow 15kg plate but when he lifts it up it's suddenly a blue 20kg... what's up with that? Is it one of those magic plates where whichever color faces out is the weight of the plate?
I can't understand that these ppl just loiter around while one of the world's finest lifters is doing his stuff on that platform. If I would've been there I would've just watched Klokov. Afterward I probably would have burned my Do-Wins - this guy is just so good!
@tscharf75 A champion like that can focus under many varied conditions. I compete in weightlifting (at the state level - I'm nowhere near this guy) and the warmup rooms are usually full of people and other athletes so you eventually need to learn to block everything out.
Klokov doesn't like doing regular back squats in his training. He says they are not a component of any of olympic movements, and also his leg power in back squats is far beyond what he need for his cleans. (same thing I ve read from Rezazadeh a few years ago). But he does plenty of front squats. You can see his 250kg perfect form, absolutely ass-to-grass with a 4-5 second pause at the bottom. Search "klokov 250"
I would never be able to concentrate with all those people walking close to me and talking and stuff, I can barely read when I hear a conversation in the background, let alone throw a ton of weight over my head. STFU and let me work! Inspiring vid, thx.
@sr19 why should it affect your ego? Let him be strong, and you can get as strong as possible. What other people do shouldn't make you jealous or angry
The squat, front or high bar, is better. In the deadlift, your hips tend to be very high, whereas you actually want to start the lift with your shoulders and ass moving in unison
i dont think so, i have seen klokov footage from a local russian comp where he was like 14 or some thing, and i think his best clean and jerk was 110 at like 75 body weight or something, which is super impressive, but,i dont think a 300kg squat would be even close to plasable with one year of training.
@sr19 Dude, I can't even fucking deadlift what this guy can snatch. Hell, I can barely grip 180 kg for more than a few seconds out of a rack pull. Yet here I am. Watching dozens of lifters outdo me time and time again, using my deadlift and squat weights like they're toys. Many of them far lighter than me. All I can do for now is lift hard and heavy.

His father stated that injury happened at 250
I am a big fan of Andrei Aramnau and I do not regret him coming and just blasting everyone (Klokov included) out of the water. 😊😂

impressive technique, and of corse one of the best!

Eleiko weights , love those... got them at the gym I work out at

amazing technique on the unloaded bar........ it's actually MUCH harder to have great form without resistance than with
Not to mention he only deadlifts snatch-grip which is impressive
amazing how he makes it all seem so light he makes 130kg seem like an empty bar

Damn, beast power

damn you 2007 why you still don't have 720p
he is so fast!!
agree!
yea it is.
when you see klokov next to normal people you get a real sense of what a beast he is!
strong as helll, damn!
that's a well run warm-up room
3 things you dont seem to have and never will
@Byzantios1
Probably too light for him to bother.
No doubt he uses hook grip for stuff that's heavy for him.
wow his power seems limitless

deadlift improves everything its a good exercise for handling some big weight. but technique is most important
He was 22 here...damn...
@rode1979 What shoes are those?
does the deadlift improve the 1st pull? Anyone got tips on improving the second pull I am new to this

In one of his videos he said max back squat was 320 kg.
He looked much healthier here, he didn't have that staggered foot stance and I believe this was prior to his shoulder injury.
it was, i think this was 2005, his injury 2006 i believe
because he increased the dose of anabolics after he retired in 2013 and he gained almost 10 kg of freky muscle that made him less agile
thank you, I find that the front squat is much more difficult than the back squat. can you explain?
If I was there I would just be sitting in a seat in front of Klokov just watching.
SHUT UP SHOW ME - well, Klokov certainly showed him, he's shutting up
I notice that Dmitry doesn't use the hook grip on his C&J.
Anybody know how much he weighed on this day? he looked Huge
lol Beadros Keulian in the back around 2:43 with a purple shirt.

video with strict press?
@trinity9011 I was thinking exactly that. He is massive!
@sr19

he weighed in at 103.2kg
I love how people clear out when he makes it clear that he is a russian tank in a human's body.
What they don't know is that he could kill them all with a single belch.
They're lucky he was in a good mood that day.
well the funniest thing is,that he can even push press more,than he clean and jerked in this training footage.lots more.
@nicholasbrunello they are the chinese, they can do whatever they want
Aramnau is stronger...or was
pretty sure that guys shirt wasnt aimed at a specific person
socks?
3:45 LOL power snatch...
imagine being pushed, by this guy.
his socks
@iiaea
Yepp, obviously the whole clip is FAKE!
but only a handfull of people in the world can get as strong as klokov by using them.
I love how it's asians that walk on his platform. I would have thrown the weight forward...
Looks just like them, but I'm not sure
judging on your knowledge of such sports and the supplements,i think you will keep remaining as the computer chair person as you are now.
haha im the exact opposite, i lift better when there are a bunch of people watching lol
yeah he seems a bit uncomfortable. its not the best environment to train in
Well then maybe they should re-prioritize ;)
adidas weightlifting shoes
You're both human...wait nevermind...
lol?
Lol...no you couldnt. Roids help but dont do the hours of practice, technique and development for you.
