Also, would you mind disclosing a ball park number on what the car cost to build? I would really like to know, can you give me like a 50,000$ price range, low or high?
If there's any channel I'll spend money on it would be this one. I think I speak for everyone when I say we really enjoy and appreciate what you do Matt.
this is my ultimate dream car, one day ill have a 69/70 charger, i prefer stock look but i wont deny this cars beauty . the sound of the V8 with the added whine of the supercharger just gives me chills
Sounds incredible. Not entirely sold on all the technology in the cabin, and the wheels aren't to my tastes, but always great to see one of these being driven.
Paddle shifters through bluetooth sounds like the worst way to shift anything. I'm fine if they want it but if it was me I would go for a normal auto without that.
I would agree that this sounds like a bad idea from the get-go. In my experience, Bluetooth connections have too much latency for anything you expect to be instantaneous. Then if there's a lot of Bluetooth traffic in the vicinity? Just seems like a recipe for disappointment. Weird since they did so many thing *so* right in this build. This car looks and sounds amazing.
there are so many bluetooth mouses and keyboards and even in industry automation you can use bluetooth. so i would say that latency of bluetooth itself is not the problem. it is the programming in the controller. and over small distances i don't see a problem. but the way it sounds "bluetooth for paddle shifters" is quite ridiculous
Have you used a Bluetooth keyboard? Every one I've used has not kept up with my typing. I don't know that I've experienced the same thing with mice, but I can't use a Bluetooth keyboard for serious typing. So it's not my first choice. I use plenty of of wireless peripherals but use Bluetooth only for audio.
I am a HUGE lover of 68-70 chargers. I generally love the ones that are original, survivors, or restored to stock...But this one is super awesome as well. Thanks for showing it us
I don't think I've ever been more excited to find and learn about a shop like this before. These videos really helped showcase this shop and what they can do, and what they can do is amazing. This Charger is sexy. I wouldn't have the automatic personally, but it's a customer car, so who am I to say. The work on these cars is beautiful, not just this Charger, but all the other cars in the other videos too. You can tell these guys are passionate and do it right, well done and congratulations to the shop, and thank you to Matt for bringing us this content.
The only thing I don't understand about this car is the gearbox. All that, and they put a 4L80E in it? Was it the only option that could handle the power and torque without breaking? And at what I'm imagining is a seven-figure build cost, they couldn't find a way to do the paddles other than bluetooth? Love the car, don't get me wrong. It's beautiful. That detail just seems kind of phoned-in for the cost.
TheSmokingTire Fair enough. I still stand by my question(s) of why that gearbox and bluetooth, however. I don't expect you to know why, of course. I'm just puzzled by those two choices. If I built a car like that, I'd want a ZF 8-speed, personally.
DaedalusZero yeah I don't know. The gearbox for me was the weak link of the build, as I didn't love the auto shift pattern or the responsiveness of the paddles, but I'm told this owner really just wants to cruise it so to that end, it was fine.
It is actually a Bowler Performance built 4L80E with a triple disk lock-up converter. This transmission is more than enough to support the numbers that the car puts out.
Detroit Speed, Inc. I wasn't questioning whether it was up to the task of transmitting the power. It just seems like an odd choice for such an extensive build, in my opinion. However, the owner seems to want it mostly for cruising, and it'll do that just fine. You guys are the pros, so you probably are better informed than I am and made the choice based on that. It's a beautiful build, nonetheless.
Honestly thank you @TheSmokingTire for showing us this, I've had my eyes opened about Detroit Speed. Now my ideal garage has a 911 Singer, an Alfaholics GT Junior, and now this awesome Detroit Speed '69 Charger.
Oh god. This is exactly the car i have been dreaming of for ages. Everything i've ever wanted. If i had to choose one car from the world, that would be it.
Wow respect to this car and build on every level. Always nice to see a brand new car with a 30 year old chassis on top of it that looks like it was made yesterday.
Detroit Speed can make a muscle car guy out of any other car guy. These are beautiful builds, though I'm assuming that most customers do lighter builds than these? And if the customer who bought this reads this - my friend, your dream is spectacular.
Vax Buster When you are cruising I highly doubt its problematic. Not saying its a flawless system but its not car breaking like people are trying to present for this car.
Wow! Absolutely Amazing, Great job Detroit Speed. I loved all there cars you reviewed, they did a nice job with all of them. Thanks Matt for taking the trip out there to show us these impressive opportunities.
As soon as Matt started doing the Detroit Speed cars I started praying for him to get the opportunity to test this car. This along with the Blu Balz Camaro rank as my 2 favorite Pro Touring builds!
These Detroit Speed videos have been amazing! While seeing these being whipped down the Californian back roads would be awesome, I realized how much these are worth and that it just wouldn't be feasible. Great couple of videos though, that have once again got me yearning for an old muscle car.
Supercars come and go and ya they are pretty cool but something like this is a forever keeper, timeless. It will NEVER go out of style and will ALWAYS be highly desirable
Wow that car is unreal. The only thing I can say about it is that it should have headrests. Everything else is so modern, roll cage, harnesses and everything, but there's nothing to protect from whiplash. And the car's acceleration alone could probably just about give you whiplash! :-P
That thing is awesome. Old cars like this charger in their original state are very cool, but I believe there's something to be said about "restomod" stuff like this with the keyless entry and other nice features -- very cool, in my book.
theres this place in the uk and they have the orginal lee with all of the crews signatures on the back . it was amazing to drive such a nice piece of history.
Anyone else think the thumbnail looks like Maple Valley in Forza 4? Like when you're waiting to start the race and it's showing random shots of the car.
Did anyone else notice the epic skid marks straight into the wall at starting at 5:24 - 5:25. Dude must have wiped out big time going too fast through the bend... Maybe he needed Detroit Speed suspension and it wouldn't have happened!!! Hey, hey- see what I did there?!? LOL!!! ;) Couldn't help myself, Matt...
+The Smoking Tire, as I have not driven anything with more than 350 hp is 650 -850 hp easy to drive or do you obsess over its ability to try and kill you?
These modern big power cars aren't like race cars of old. It's very easy to simply use less throttle. No matter how much power a car makes, if you're using reasonable amounts of throttle, it's going to be just fine.
I love the car. Absolutely beautiful. Bluetooth paddle shifters though? They're no good if there's a delay like that. That seems like something that could go very wrong as well. No wireless tech for shifting.
I originally reported this car as 750 WHP / 800 WTQ in the title and description of the video. That was an error. It's 830 WHP / 900 WTQ. my bad.
TheSmokingTire Phew okay good bc my first thought was wow what an underpowered car
TheSmokingTire hahahahha ^
That's it?
Good to know, I was worried it wasn't making enough power.
Also, would you mind disclosing a ball park number on what the car cost to build? I would really like to know, can you give me like a 50,000$ price range, low or high?
It's like the general mayhem went to rehab finished college and got its life together
These old school muscle cars are so sick, it just screams 60's and 70's and what that time period was about. Loving that color combo too.
I'm a bow tie/LS guy through and through, BUT, no doubt for me that this is one of the most beautiful muscle car I've ever seen. Stunning!
If there's any channel I'll spend money on it would be this one. I think I speak for everyone when I say we really enjoy and appreciate what you do Matt.
Amin to that brother!
Adam Cooper throwing a sub at MotorTrend
...750HP and no headrests...?...yolo...?...
900+ ftlbs or torque without headrests...yes...yolo.
I was thinking that haha! your head ends up in the boot/trunk!
It's with the windows down theres nothing showing when viewed from the side a very open bay feel. Headrest would ruin that.
being dead would be way worse ngl
Indeed, whiplash accidents and lawsuit potential would make me spec those
this is my ultimate dream car, one day ill have a 69/70 charger, i prefer stock look but i wont deny this cars beauty . the sound of the V8 with the added whine of the supercharger just gives me chills
those skidmarks at 5:24 .....someone went straight into the bush.
Probably a mustang haha
Yup a mustang was there
Probably someone trying to avoid a deer.
Well there was an upcoming slight right hand turn coming and the driver freaked out and the mustang made him pay.
it was a mustang aiming for a deer
Sounds incredible. Not entirely sold on all the technology in the cabin, and the wheels aren't to my tastes, but always great to see one of these being driven.
I'm a tuner guy, 69 charger is one of favorite muscle cars, this definitely lives up to its name! #nohate #carguy appreciate all builds
I think the Nova is too tall for its length and width I'm more of a 66-67 Lemans/GTO
Kyle Noray #noonegivesafuck
funkingitup I no spik inglis
AMG BENZ_HAMMER_6.0 Guess you speak for everyone in the world. Cool
Paddle shifters through bluetooth sounds like the worst way to shift anything. I'm fine if they want it but if it was me I would go for a normal auto without that.
Seems like a last minute addition, and they didn't want to route a bunch of wiring through the steering column.
This is precisely why most gaming keyboards and mice WIRED.
It's no leased Kia Forte turbo, but it's okay in its own right.
and got it over the inferior Fiesta ST, no doubt.
wondering this thing can keep up with my 60psi 99 civic.
probably
abernathy0011 😂😂😂😂
abernathy0011 😆😂😆😂
you killed him
I don't think anything can beat a civic
I am a HUGE lover of 68-70 chargers. I generally love the ones that are original, survivors, or restored to stock...But this one is super awesome as well. Thanks for showing it us
I think this is the nicest charger ive ever seen. Its modern, but they retained the classic muscle car look. Its on point.
Saw the title and automatically i remembered of roadkills's gereral mayhem lol
eliel moraes general mayhem is the low budget brother.
eliel moraes What a turd compared to this
eliel moraes General Mayhem is the Drunk uncle
It might be a turd, but at least you can actually drive the General Mayhem without worrying about scratching or denting it.
eliel moraes would be pretty cool if they turned the general mayhem into this.

We really appreciate the kind words @enigmaPL If you ever find yourself in the Mooresville, NC area, stop on by and we'll show you around!
The only thing I don't understand about this car is the gearbox. All that, and they put a 4L80E in it? Was it the only option that could handle the power and torque without breaking? DaedalusZero I don't know if it was me or Alex that said 4L80 in the video, but that's an error. It's a 6L80
TheSmokingTire Fair enough. I still stand by my question(s) of why that gearbox and bluetooth, however. I don't expect you to know why, of course. I'm just puzzled by those two choices. If I built a car like that, I'd want a ZF 8-speed, personally.

I've watched a ton of your videos and this is the only one where I had a huge grin on my face the entire time. That car is ridiculous.
Thanks Alex! Also thanks Matt and TST team.
This had to be the pinnacle of your visit. Gorgeous car and great video.
TheSmokingTire thank you for reviewing another old muscle car!!!! been waiting a long time for this. pleases do more in the future!!!
Honestly thank you @TheSmokingTire for showing us this, I've had my eyes opened about Detroit Speed. Now my ideal garage has a 911 Singer, an Alfaholics GT Junior, and now this awesome Detroit Speed '69 Charger.
Detroit Speed's collection is fucking epic.
Oh god. This is exactly the car i have been dreaming of for ages. Everything i've ever wanted. If i had to choose one car from the world, that would be it.
Wow respect to this car and build on every level. Always nice to see a brand new car with a 30 year old chassis on top of it that looks like it was made yesterday.
saw this car in person this morning at Katie's cars and coffee in great Falls. absolutely amazing build thanks for reviewing it matt!!
Detroit Speed can make a muscle car guy out of any other car guy. These are beautiful builds, though I'm assuming that most customers do lighter builds than these? And if the customer who bought this reads this - my friend, your dream is spectacular.
Im from the uk. The Dodge Charger one of my dream cars. If i ever win the lotto one of these will be top of the list
Bluetooth gears LOL! ... what a shame, the money could have been spent so more wisely!
It should have a sequential. Hahaha.
Vax Buster it's a weekend cruiser. Not a racer. It's smart for that application.
NoOneImportant556 Bluetooth is prone to interference, not great when you are changing gears!
Vax Buster When you are cruising I highly doubt its problematic. Not saying its a flawless system but its not car breaking like people are trying to present for this car.
How is it smart compared to a wired setup? Just wondering myself too why they did bluetooth.
Now that is a clean charger, dream car!
1:52
Holy flurking shnit that is an engine. So clean, so beefy, so nicely painted... such a huge supercharger.
I need a moment.
thanks Alex & Matt & everyone at dse for letting u drive these awesome cars, wanted to see more of the charger but oh well, just well done guys
Wow! Absolutely Amazing, Great job Detroit Speed. I loved all there cars you reviewed, they did a nice job with all of them. Thanks Matt for taking the trip out there to show us these impressive opportunities.
Thanks Alex! Detroit Speed makes great stuff.
As soon as Matt started doing the Detroit Speed cars I started praying for him to get the opportunity to test this car. This along with the Blu Balz Camaro rank as my 2 favorite Pro Touring builds!
Michael Charity a
yeah, my dream car... with the ugliest rims i have ever seen in my life.
These Detroit Speed videos have been amazing! While seeing these being whipped down the Californian back roads would be awesome, I realized how much these are worth and that it just wouldn't be feasible. Great couple of videos though, that have once again got me yearning for an old muscle car.
Wow, that is the most beautiful engine bays I have ever seen.
900 torque. jezz that like having the new power stroke under the hood, but with double the horsepower. wow, incredible. amazing work
Seeing their previous projects on their website is so crazy, everything looks amazing.
Supercars come and go and ya they are pretty cool but something like this is a forever keeper, timeless. It will NEVER go out of style and will ALWAYS be highly desirable
What an incredible build, that interior is stunning
Beutifully sculpted under the hood! And i have to add it sounds amazeing!
Detroit Speed sure had a lot of nice cars for you to drive. I have a feeling this will be my favorite ( I haven't watched the whole video yet. )
Wow that car is unreal. The only thing I can say about it is that it should have headrests. Everything else is so modern, roll cage, harnesses and everything, but there's nothing to protect from whiplash. And the car's acceleration alone could probably just about give you whiplash! :-P
68-69 charger is probably the best looking car ever made.
Matt, that's gotta be a 400 + car right? great video as always, I really enjoy you're videos and Larry K's videos Thanks man.
Greatness. Old body... New everything else. Passive keyless entry, sound system, push button start..... Yessssss.
That thing is awesome.
Old cars like this charger in their original state are very cool, but I believe there's something to be said about "restomod" stuff like this with the keyless entry and other nice features -- very cool, in my book.
What a car! I could get lost in the details for hours. Well done boys!
theres this place in the uk and they have the orginal lee with all of the crews signatures on the back . it was amazing to drive such a nice piece of history.
That car is a thing of beauty. I want it.
That interior is flawless.
You can not appreciate the car without seeing the build video. The most trained Charger eye would miss several mods!
Did you even floor it throughout this review Matt? Easily my favourite car ever made so I'm super glad you got the chance to do this.
CLEAN doesn't say enough about that engine bay. Amazing job...!!
Anyone else think the thumbnail looks like Maple Valley in Forza 4? Like when you're waiting to start the race and it's showing random shots of the car.
I miss that track was so fun to drift at
Hot Rod Lincoln Channel I definitely thought it was a forza build video at first, lol
By far my favorite One Take car. Thax Alex!
That engine bay is a work of art.
Detroit Speed built her... 830 horses of Detroit muscle... It's a beast.
...
Scares the shit outta me. -Matt Farah 2016
my god...this thing is perfect. If I had the money I don't care what price it is I would pay anything to have this.
this is a beast! Sucks the new gen chargers don't like this awesome.
Daniel Brealey doc brown was at it again....
LOL!!! ;)
Daniel Brealey A Mustang mistook the wall for a crowd of people. .
This Charger is pretty much like the Singer 911. Classic car with modern touches. So good.
That Senna poster though. So great to see that in your wall Matt
Somebody get Mike Musto over here! Lol. This was awesome Matt great video as always
Finally a car you actually look comfortable sitting in.
Epic! Thanks for making cross country trek and sharing.
Why are there no headrests?
Customer preference.
It's a headbangers car
What was the most expensive car featured on a one take? Speciale A?
6 greatest videos on youtube
Gotta be an almost a 7 figure car. Crazy money
That's a badass car y'all built guys congratulations to y'all Detroit speed bad doggies !
Vin Diesel needs to visit Detroit Speed to build him a custom 69 Charger. It's only right
Tesparza0218 I agree for he loves Mopars
And bc of his "dad's" charger in fast and furious..
Build a Duramax diesel swapped car for Vin Diesel, maybe get a sponsorship by Diesel jeans.
Beautiful interior and car, love the modern day luxuries too
gotta love the beautiful classics...
My favorite muscle 💪 car !! She seems to ride really smoothly great build.would liked to see some shots of the interior
Possibly the most badass car. Period
Fresh skidmarks at 5:24 didn't go well.
i like it when the torque number is higher than the hp number...throttle response is instantaneous
Thanks Alex!
You're welcome!
Matt...The sweat shirt your wearing in the opening is amazing.
Wicked ride,thanks for sharing!
Nothing beats a hemi
stoopidvideo everything beats a hemi
Evin Herzberg I guess that's why Top fuel Dragsters all use Hemi's, Aka the fastest cars in the world.
JTS that's not a race. There are turns in a man's race.
Evin Herzberg It's still a race.
stoopidvideo wrong
This totally cool car went to the moon and back while watching this video and we didn't even notice it.
if i won the lottery i would 100% get detroit speed to build me my dream car
I'd love to see this car on a road course. A big course where it can really open up.
Holy hell, I want to see this thing on a good road. Awesome build. I'm guessing we're near 7 figures with this one...
I'd never guess that car cost $300k to build considering I've seen some amazing pro touring cars sell at Barrett Jackson for
L- Rod if you guessed that number you'd be way low.
L- Rod if you guessed that number you'd be way low.
That engine alone is over 150K.
400k-600k
id say 575k tho
"With paddle shifters"
*Aggressively slaps paddles in background*
I immediately thought of the General Mayhem
If any car in the world has ever needed head restraints, this car needs head restraints. Whiplash is no joke.
Wow, wow, and wow. Few cars impress me like this one.
+TheSmokingTire you gotta do something about them long shipping times on the sweaters, homie. My order is showing delivery of December 21-24?
Nayr Nitsua thanks for letting me know about this I've just emailed Teespring people I will get it sorted don't worry.
Awesome build
I love the car. Absolutely beautiful. Bluetooth paddle shifters though? They're no good if there's a delay like that. That seems like something that could go very wrong as well. No wireless tech for shifting.
Absolutely gorgeous beast, don't see the $250.000+ though?
Is that the rear end making a humming sound ?
yesss! we finally get some modified muscle cars on here! :) Hope we get some trucks
