I have made several I spy quilts as baby gifts. The parents seem to like them.
Sometimes "less is more." The simplest quilts can still make a big statement. Lucky boys to have such wonderful quilts. ❤

As always…watching your videos are so relaxing and inspiring. Sometimes I forget to just keep it “simple” and truly enjoy making a quilt just for fun. Then again, just your tutorials in general motivate us to follow your lead and a calmer approach to what we love doing. ❤

Aww! I got 2 new grandbabies this past summer. A boy now about 11 months and a girl now about 7 months. I'm now back at my summer vacation home in Wisconsin. I need to get busy!

But wouldnt it be fun to make an I spy quilt for you with holiday fabrics? Could have 4 quadrants, one for Christnas, Easter, St Patrick's Day, Thanksgiving. You can fold it and have that holiday. I think I might have to make one.

Hello Beth, these's I Spy Quilts, tops for your grandsons, are so cute. I'm sure they will love it because of all the different things they can look for. And it was made by their grandma so they will love it even more. What a great idea I have six grandchildren. 3 boys and 3 girls. And all of them with the exception of the oldest one who is 12 I'm not sure about the oldest grandson. If he might think it's too childish? Do you know or do you have grandchildren that are 12 years old ?And what do you think about my 12-year-old grandson being too old for a I Spy quilt ? I enjoy watching your videos you very creative. Looking forward to the next one.
I would ask the 12 yr old about their favorite color or theme and begin there.👍

Wouldn't it be nice if some (or all) of the fabric printing companies made large charm (5 inch squares) packages of "I Spy Quilt" fabrics for making children's and baby quilts (with no two prints the same in each package). Some packages could be made for boys, some packages made for girls, and some packages made for either. As an adult, I would love to have my own I Spy Quilt; so, I need to make myself one large enough to cuddle up in (with a child as we play "I Spy" or read a book). This is another wonderful idea. As I work through my scraps and yardage (this summer break) I'm going to try and get enough charm squares cut to make several of these small quilts. "I Spy Quilts" would be wonderful for the Project Linus program. An I Spy Quilt could be a perfect gift to any Per-School Program and Kindergarten (for a child who doesn't have a blanket for nap time). Thank you.

All this time watching you,you still amaze me and your talent. Where did the name I spy come grom???
“I spy with my little eye a frog”, for example. It’s a game played with children and it’s extra fun sitting on a bed playing with the quilt finding items together.
I also remember " I spy. What do you spy? A little girl. What color eyes. Blue eyes. What color hair? Brown hair. What's her name,? Susie!"
Soo cute...but how did you quilt them? Machine or hand tie,
I quilted them. Just added labels today with video 🙂

There are 15 rows....12 squares across. 6 I spy squares and 6 background squares. 👌

What makes it a I spy quilt?
I spy quilts are filled with different fabrics in order to play the game - I spy. “I spy with my little eye a heart” for example. 👍
