Answering questions 1.What caused God to be angered with the people of Sodom and Gomorrah? Answer : Some christians would say it's homosexuality...some say pride...But I want to give a better answer or a more appriorate answer. [ Genesis 19:5 , 19:9 , Ezekiel 16:49-50 ] The people of Sodom and Gomorrah sins wasn't just that , more accurately it was sexual immorality , self-absorbed narcisstic traits , full of pride/arrogance , they were full of idleness , they showed no mercy/pity to the poor and oppressed them as well ( might as well add in the fact that even the poor were lazy and arrogant ) Now what do i mean by sexual immorality? Read this chapter again , imagine this...if you're a foreigner coming to a country and all of a sudden the state of that country's people suddenly knocks on your door and says they wanna "know" you...and next thing you know they force themselves upon you! How messed up is that?! And they had no sense of convictions of doing that evil deed! Plus reading the description of how the verse was written it seems like the people of Sodom would have been proud to do such a wicked disgusting act! 2.Then why did God save Lot's family and not the people of Sodom and Gomorrah? Answer : They didn't want to repent , they didn't care about holiness , Looking at the men who rebuked Lot's judgement/response , they only wanted to what they wanted without thinking the consequences they may effect others. 3.Why did Lot offer his daughters in trade to protect the 2 angels? Was this action good? ( SENSITIVE/HARD QUESTION TIME!) Answer : It was most likely Lot didn't know those 2 were angels at first. I believe Lot did what was righteous within his coscience , though his intentions were good , the decision/action that he made to offer up his daughters were unwise , terrible and horrible. What do i mean by his intetions were good but the decisions/actions were bad... For example , you may have heard of the story/character "Robin Hood" right? Robin Hood was an archer who gave riches/resources for the poor...sounds good right? but wait...apparently Robin robs the rich and give it to the poor.. =-= That's the point im trying to make Lot's intentions were good but the action/decision he made was just horrible..however I do believe Lot acted out of a nervous/heat in the moment action. ( I could be wrong though ) 4.Why then God save Lot and called him righteous according to 2 Peter 2:7~8 since his actions were terrible? [ Genesis 19:29 ] Answer : Because Lot felt convicted and he acted upon those convictions that he believe was wrong , that's why Lot was called a righteous person. God saved Lot not because Lot was righteous but rather God chosed to be merciful to Lot due to God remembering Abraham. 5.Why did Lot's daughters "slept" with him? Is incest good? Answer : No! Incest is definitely wrong now according to Mark 6:17~18 , I believe people at those times accepted incest due to fact of lack of mates plus there wasn't any genetical defects at those times when people were born out of incest. I believe genetical defects came in during the time in between of Jacob and Joseph's era or slightly earlier ( i could be wrong ) Lot's daughters believed that they were the only survivors left within that area/mountain , so in order to keep the cycle of life going , they decided to "sleep" with their father. _______________ ( My opinion ) This is also one of the reasons why I believe Lot messed things up badly , as we can see , Lot allowed fear and his emotions to run over his mind not once but twice. The 1st being at the fact that he didn't want the people of Sodom to break into his house causing damage/harm to the family and so therefore he gave out a "lukewarm" and also quite a "cowardly" solution which was to offer up his daughters...which was quite illogical...knowing at the fact that people outside were aiming for the 2 men that they saw...I don't know about you...but i think I rather die going down as a person who was courages rather than dying out of a cowardly/silly conclusion The 2nd of course again scripture tells us that he was AFRAID to stay in Zoar. I'm like...bro..You do realized you could have just gone back to Abraham right? Could have just gone onto another direction back to Abraham right?? I mean God literally did saved you before using His angels you know... And heres the other thing...You mean to tell me after for so long living in that area with so much of wickedness you still wanted to stay there ??!! So i thought , why not just slap in some armor , make the angels look epic ( which they are even in a biblical sense ) , let the audience see their duties a bit and get the chapter done with. It was just to represent a display of power/strength to blind the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. I didn't wanna make biblical accurate angels at that time because my laptop was too weak to handle the effects and so was the software.
