It’s surprising to me why some fans say that she didn’t do anything special vocally on this song but it was good for her as a musician because of the piano. I thought she added her a little signature vocal flips throughout the song, and she has some emotive, vocally and emotional powerful moments, where she kinda raised the pitch with her chest, like “never DID baby!” Or earlier, where she said “ It’s all I EVER ask”. Like come on. She may not have sung it like a diva would, but she added some interesting vocal colors throughout the song. And that’s me is more Faouzia than anything else where you are expecting her to sing like Whitney Houston or Céline Dion.
You’re like me. When I was watching this, I was saying, please keep it slow and please stay at the piano, and she did. In fact that’s what I wanted in the days leading up to that performance. I wanted a call back to what she was doing at the beginning of the competition and her career.

Piano is actually the thing that she is classically trained at, so there’s no way she’s going to be less good at that than her singing. As amazing as her singing is, is probably her weakest point which is crazy to say, even though it’s not weak at all! ha ha. Because she is so well-rounded and is so expert at the instrument playing (plays other instruments), the songwriting, the production, that she’s not like other vocalists. She is the all-around artist. I know some people try to compare her to Mariah Carey, but I think she’s more of an artist than Mariah Carey even because she plays even more instruments than Mariah and I believe she has more versatility vocally anyway than Mariah Carey.
