  • G’day folks, these crazy looking critters are frogfish and In this video, you’ll learn what they are and how to find them.
Frogfish are terrible swimmers and they come in all colours and sizes and they often look like a sponge. They walk on modified pelvic and pectoral fins and can jet propel themselves along by taking water in through the mouth and squirting it out a small hole on the back of the pectoral fin. They are ambush predators that increase their chances of catching prey by flicking a lure in front of their mouths. Their fishing gear is a modified first dorsal spine called an illicium, with a lure called an esca. The amount of effort they put into their fishing varies between species from none at all, to casually flicking a lure, to enthusiastically running around shaking the lure vigourously.
So now you know what you’re looking for, we’ll get into the challenge. Each level will begin with 10 seconds to spot them as you’d come across them on a dive, followed by 20 seconds of closer and more obvious shots, to show you more detail and maybe what you couldn’t find in the harder levels. So good luck and, here are a couple of gimmes to get you started.
