      Angus wears a school boy uniform and Kanami wears a maid outfit. They both work perfectly.

      Boston show was very interesting. The girls used that unusual stage configuration to the maximum.

      It's interesting that they have switched to an English version of those calls. I am so used to this "Arigatou gozaimashita, BANDO-MAIDO deshta!", I was kind of missing it 😂

    not sure if you got my discord message, but do you also have Houston in HD?(it seems to be stuck in 360p)

    • @VladimirChupin
      @VladimirChupin  Рік тому +5

      Yes, UA-cam was misbehaving with many videos. I uploaded those straight from the phone, and it decided to stop at 360p, never progressing to HD quality.
      Originals are here: www.asuswebstorage.com/navigate/a/#/s/7D8C8CA8AB804948BE2A4F7DAFE4BA074

      @@bloodnthuner Ah! I see! Yes, it was a huge problem for me at the start as well. UA-cam was pushing that THRILL song up my recommendations list, but I avoided clicking it for months. I thought these girls in cute outfits can't be serious. Probably just some dancing, and a moderately interesting singing, maybe. And when I heard Akane's drumming and MISA's bass solo, and Kanami's shredding...
      You know, they do it on purpose. I remember I was really surprised listening to that interview in Hiroshima from 2016, I think, where a journalist was asking people in the waiting line why they are interested in BAND-MAID. And each guy started his comment with that "gap" notion! "You know, I saw these girls dressed as Maids, expecting them to play some cute pop (kawaii), but when they started playing, it was so cool (kakkoii)!"
      So, this contrast kawaii/kakkoii is a huge selling point in Japan. But in the West, it's the other way around, people have a difficult time overcoming the "gap."
      How I overcame it-I just listened to the music only, not watching any MVs or anything. After I listened to almost all of their discography just in my headphones while walking to the office and back from work, I did not care in the least how they dress. They could be on stage in hijabs or in burlap sacks, I could not care less.

      @@bloodnthuner Well it's just french maid outfits, To me it's just as silly as things like what Gwar, Kiss, 80's Glam metal bands or the whole leather and spiked gauntlets a lot of the early thrash era bands had on... It's the uniform they chose, honestly they're not even really sexualizing themselves as much as a lot of the other female bands seem to do. I don't listen to the band for their uniforms or looks, I listen to them because they're playing the most interesting rock music I've heard in ages.

    • @VladimirChupin
      @VladimirChupin  Рік тому +12

      For me, it's a Soviet school uniform 😂 All girls in my class had to dress like this. Black aprons as the everyday dress, and white aprons on solemn special occasions.
      For me, it's actually a powerful feminist message, what BAND-MAID brings. Girls posing as girls, not trying to look like men. Equality of women and men does not mean that all must look equal-and what's worse, that women must look like men! That's the opposite of true equality. And BAND-MAID shows it in a very powerful way. They defeat many a man in the field which was considered an exclusively male domain for decades. But they emphasize that they are women, not men.
