Amazing and honest review my Internet speeds are 300 Mb down and around 20 Mb. Upload, so I do not have any issues with my portal when I'm using it It has run smooth like butter
@AdventureswithCC I actually subscribed to your channel. And I will be honest with you. Those type of download speeds are very expensive. They charge me $60 a month. Well that's what they supposed to charge me Bud. I ended up getting the internet under my mom's name because she's an elderly woman. I live and take care of her. So she gotta elderly woman on medical discount. So I pay $23 which is not bad and believe me. My experience is very, very amazing and smooth. What those type of download speeds? The only place where I do feel it. With all honesty is when I'm using the bathroom and I take it in there with me, you do feel the little heccup, because the routers in the living room and the waves have to travel through several walls, but other than that it works fabulous and I'm also using one of the best. Offerings from Net gear a nighthawk router. And when you step into that high speed realm, the portal runs amazing
I just bought the portal. Play this thing in bed more than I do by walking 10 feet and playing my console. The portal is a game changer. Only had it a short time and traveled with it a few times. Been a little bit laggy at times.
I have the s22 ultra along with ipads in my house. I also have the portal. PS play is a broken app . Anything thats a 3rd party device has a horrible connection local. But remotely on another network it works like a dream. I even upgraded my router but same issues. Now with the portal I absolutely dont have any of those problems, it feels native. And that doesn't make sense. This leads me to believe sony absolutely prioritizes the portal over ps play . A work around fir 3rd part devices is psplay app. Its a 3rd party app that costs money but it pretty rids its self of stutters and bad connections. If you ask me Sony needs to fix th ps play app.
Hey great video. I want to pick one up but was unsure because i heard there is stuttering issues compared to something like the PS Play app as you can change the bitrate. Ive tried remote play on my s22 ultra and although its smooth and latency is good for the most part. I noticed it would stutter every 10-15 seconds like its trying to run 60fps but drops to around 30fps and then back to 60. Have u experienced anything like that on your portal at all? Thanks.
yes, thats the one thing i ve noticed, seems like sometimes the fps is somehow inconsistent. the video quality is, the fps no. i can t really compare to remoteplay on a tablet/phone as i did not use it so far. but the portal is worth it for the bigger screen and that dualsense controler. there s no attachable controler that works with screens bigger than 7" so yeah...if you can return it after a few days if you re not pleased, give it a go.
@moguai22 Thanks for the reply, mate! I might pick it up on Friday. (Launches that day in Australia) If there's issues for me, I might just go with the backbone instead. Fingers crossed 🤞
I haven’t noticed any of that in my experience so far. The most I’ve experienced in terms of stutter is from my internet connection. But I agree with what was said above: buy it and try it out. If it doesn’t work like how you want just return it! Hope that helps!
I have the s22 ultra along with ipads in my house. I also have the portal along with the 2nd gen backbone ps edition.. PS play is a broken app . Anything thats a 3rd party device has a horrible connection local. But remotely on another network it works like a dream. I even upgraded my router to a gaming compatible router but same issues. Now with the portal I absolutely dont have any of those problems, it feels native. And that doesn't make sense. This leads me to believe sony absolutely prioritizes the portal over ps play . A work around for 3rd part devices is psplay app. Its a 3rd party app (not officially sony) that costs money but it pretty rids its self of stutters and bad connections. If you ask me thats a horrible solution that a 3rd party app has to fix Sonys issues. Sony needs acknowledge that.
It’s funny that you mentioned that, I was just thinking about the repairs for this the other day. I wonder if Sony will come out with a simpler solution

I appreciate the kind words! Although you’re making jealous of your internet speeds

You don't need to turn off the Portal. You're correct with putting the PS5 in Rest mode but the Portal can just sleep as well.
Oh really? That’s good to know! Thank you!
