It's so true that people just associate beauty with an easy life when nothing could be further from the truth, it can frequently hide a very hard life and extreme trauma. Never judge till you've walked in someone's shoes, it isn't all it's cracked up to be.

She was that Blonde, beautiful, with a voluptuous figure which was a standard during the 1990s, earning her the nickname "The Blonde with Class". She paved the way for the likes of Candice Swanepoel, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Doutzen Kroes, Romee Strijd and many more.

@@tinajadior Rosie and Candice's facial structure are quite identical to Karen's and Romee too, but she looks more like Karen's sister Saskia.
@@tinajadior The Germanic genes. The Dutch are descendants of the Franks, and the English are descendants of the Anglo-Saxons. They are both blonde, blue-eyed beauties, with a square chiseled jawline, very well-defined facial contours with their low buccal fat, and plump lips that add to their sex appeal.
I always found "The Blond with Class" title a bit perplexing. It's almost a backhanded compliment that is highly insulting and reductive to blondes, implying that they rarely have class, because they are naturally airhead bimbos, who are no good at anything other than looking pretty and sexy for the male gaze, and giving men what they want. Hollywood and European cinema really did us a disservice reinforcing that stereotype with blond bombshells like Marilyn Monroe, Anita Eckberg, Jayne Mansfield, Brigitte Bardot, Farrah Fawcett, Pamela Anderson, etc. Because of that, no one takes blondes, especially attractive ones, seriously. It's almost like saying, Karen gets a pass, as she can do high fashion, despite her very commercial appeal as well, because naturally her kinds look like they belong at Playboy instead of Vogue.
@@tinajadiorBtw, there were other Dutch models already working for Victoria's Secret before Karen Mulder. Frederique van der Wal and Rebecca Romijn, who is a little bit more than half Dutch, were in the very first Victoria's Secret runway, class of 1995. Famke Janssen, who was also Rebecca Romijn's costar in the first X-Men trilogy (she played Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix, while Rebecca played Raven/Mystique), was also featured in many of the Victoria's Secret campaigns, though she never walked the runway. What Karen Mulder accomplished was being one of the first Victoria's Secret Angels, and the first one to debut the Angel wings, by opening the show in 1998.

Should repeatedly raped, escort, and depression really be glossed over in one sentence? Is that really controversy? R8pe allegations are not really gossip. That sounds more like abuse and trauma from a girl who was exposed to such things at a very young age.

You should be very careful in your wording when it comes to her rape allegations. While I do believe Karen was raped, and I sympathize for her a lot, you made it sound like it was a fact that Prince of Monaco did indeed rape her, when that has not been proven till this day. Karen even took back her words, and apologized, though it is not known if she did it out of fear or because she was forced by the media, her family, and/or the Monégasque royal family. Whatever they did that day erasing those tapes in French media, we would never know, until Karen comes clean and gives us the truth, in her own time. Or she doesn't have to, and can live her life privately as she wishes. What I do wonder is whether she ever felt a bit bitter that her dear friend Carla Bruni's music career took off in France, while hers didn't. Karen and Carla were best friends during their modeling days, living together in Monaco, and often seeing hanging out together. Karen even said she doesn't really hang out with other models outside of work besides Carla Bruni. She did seem close with Eva Herzigova, though, and maybe Nadja Auermann, Yasmeen Ghauri, and Tereza Maxova. But definitely not Angie Everhart
Yasmeen often told that she loved being paired together with Karen whenever they walked together on the runway. And walking with her was a sheer pleasure as she told it on her IG account when she greeted Karen on her birthday.

After all we know about those men, I don’t doubt a word of her allegations. It is known that many modeling agencies basically promised the actual models to the corporations who chose their agencies for campaigns. If we know it happened to Karen and Carre Otis, I can only imagine what happened to the hundreds of teen girls whose faces we do not know. John Casablancas and the head of Elite in Europe used the agencies like menus. Again most models are just out of childhood when they begin.
@@carrington2949 Yeah, I watched the 60 minute documentary about Gerald Marie. Just sickening how many aspiring young models he raped, including Carre Otis. I'm surprised that this all slipped by Linda Evangelista's radar, but I'm sure she must've sensed some really dark energy coming from him. He and John Casablancas were pigs running this industry of young vulnerable girls who just wanted to make it in the industry, but were pressured to sleep with them if they wanted to land major modeling gigs. Stephanie Seymour apparently dated a then 42 year old John Casablancas when she was just 14, breaking his marriage with his Danish wife Jeanette Christiansen. I'm pretty sure Stephanie was groomed by him, and pressured to sleep with him. Only time will tell if Stephanie also comes out with the truth, but I guess she doesn't like to come out as a homewrecker and w*ore.
