    Best interpretation I've heard so far. Great sound quality. No contemporary singer can sing with this type of voice emission.

    There is so much that is very beautiful here and that ending is so inside the character of Rusalka. Very moving.

    The first time I ever heard this aria was in 1962, sung by Rita Streich. She has some vital, immediate quality, almost like she's singing a folk song. It comes right through and connects with the listener. Dvorak is ome of my favourite composers, but I find the rest of Rasalka dull and this aria comes right at the start.

    One must be a poet to exprime the feeling;
    the singing bird of Vienna performing a beau
    tiful aria in Czech.

    Not bad! Her Czech diction is much better than many modern Czech sopranos who tend to shout. Thanks for this.

    リタシュトライヒを初めて聞いたのは確か春の声だったと思いますがその後のカラヤン旧版蝙蝠のアディーレはコケティッシュで上品で最高のアディーレでした。シュワルツコップフの少し低い声のロザリンデとの対称は見事。未だにこの旧版を凌駕した蝙蝠はありません。

    i think russian or not this genius sings this with sublime tenderness as intended.lets not get foolishly fixated on the nuances of czech pronunciationin the presence of such a talent as this.to do so is to loose . . .not win!

    do you know: Rita Streich was born in Barnaul, Altai Krai, Russia and brought up bilingual...

    I am in the fortunate position that I can only speak one language and am therefore not distracted from the WONDERFUL SINGING of Rita Streich by such petty criticism as to her pronunciation, diction whether it be good, bad or otherwise. Besides I believe she is Russian born and not Czech so she should be forgiven for any slip ups in a language not her own. On the other hand I agree with William Shackleford that, for me at least, Frederika von Stade probably tops all other versions of this wonderful piece.

    I don't know that Streich "needs to sit down", but I do agree that Zinka's recording is supreme.

  • @drwls

    I much prefer this to the Renee Fleming version that is getting the most views here. About ten years ago, Frederika von Stade gave the best performance I've ever heard, for a TV special filmed in Europe.

    Well, in this matter I would say only this: Please, do consider possibly the "Art of the Time" to interpret classics... That makes a lot of difference and opens many ways to sing... even differently...
    WHO + WHAT + TIME = POSSIBILITY

    Actually not as perfect as Lucia Popp's version but Rita beautifully sang it straight from her heart! You can feel the sadness of the moon!

    Fine singing, a voice I don´t enjoy though. But I can´t help thinking the very best Rusalka ever is Gabriela Benackova.

    I like her voice very much generally but I have to say NOOOOO this time. She does it as like she really didn't give a sight of her eye at the score. I don't like it.

  • @mnikita123
    @mnikita123 17 років тому

    Sorry but the pronuntioation is not correct. She should have practissed much more.. She mixed up several words so the meaning changes as well and the libreto does not make much sence in same parts. I dont say that to sing in czech is easy ... but to take it seriously - much more work should have been done....

  • @ThomasTVP
    @ThomasTVP 2 роки тому

    She's very musical, but there's no denying that you can hear her age in this recording. And the orchestra sound like they're just muddling through.
