- Sleep Token has now been on my radar as I have listened to The Summoning and Chokehold (be sure to check out those reactions as well) but I thought we could check out some more of this unique band that is BREAKING THE INTERNET with their new singles. first heard them last year, then they completely took over my playlists. I listened to them 5 times more than my next highest streamed band. I HIGHLY recommend checking out "The Offering" and "Gods" for more heavy tracks.
Fan since 2019 when they released The Sundowning

Didn't know who they were until Will Ramos did the cover of Hypnosis. Now I can't get enough of Sleep Token!
Prior to The Summoning, Higher has traditionally been my favourite Sleep Token song, absolutely worth a listen

Yessss Higher AND Dark Signs-Dark Signs isn't nearly as heavy but there's something about that chorus that SLAMS.

their most similar song to the summoning is definitely "the offering" and "gods" is their heaviest song.

Fun fact : Vessel use to "Blegh" on some breakdowns during their shows.
Saw them live in Germany yesterday. If you get the chance, catch them live, they are one of the best live bands I have seen in the last 20 years. Really!

Higher, High Water, Atlantic, Jaws, The Love you want (masterful video), hypnosis, Gods and then it's start getting REAL emotional with Distraction, Levitate, The way that you were, missing limbs, they are just music that you FEEL
Got into them when Will Ramos did his vocal cover of Hypnosis. Went through their entire catalogue, even dove down the rabbit hole of trying to figure out who the hell Vessel is. Absolutely amazing on all fronts
I think you would enjoy The Offering, Higher, and Gods the most. But every single song they've released is top-tier

Sleep token was never about chunk. It might be an aspect of the band but Vessel said they aren’t any genre. Of course, people still lop them into the category of metal

Of all Sleep Token tracks i've heard this one, The Offering & The summoning are my favs...oh and JAWS too. Always awesome that they use LOKI FILMS for almost all their videos too. Big fan of his work
It ABSOLUTELY needs to be made clear, there’s probably more soft slowness to A LOT of their back catalogue. However it is all phenomenal. But don’t go into it expecting as much heavy as we’ve been spoiled with lately. The heavy is there. But it’s used quite sparingly so it’s that much more impactful when it crops up. Their true strength is in the sheer variety of styles they use throughout their entire catalogue
Sleep Token is a special band, and vessel has an incredible voice. Here are some other songs to check out. Bloodsport, The love you want and Jaws.

Yes that's the vocalist in the video. He goes by vessel and the other 2 member goes by i. Like the roman numerals. To my knowledge their actual names haven't been revealed
Saw them last week live in Düsseldorf as pre act from architects.
This song was incredible live! His voice is live also on point and the drummer is killin it definitely !

High Water is their best song, imo. So much emotion, plus the on of the sickest breakdowns ever.
Alkaline mentions briefly, Holy Water. So does their song Granite, I wonder if there’s a subtle theme going on in the albums. Apparently the albums are a trilogy.

I love that you wanna do a deeper dive into them! opening up your mind to the versatility of metal is a great idea! there are so many sub genres of metal. with sleep token you also don’t really know what you’re going to get. definitely check out stuff from their album sundowning. vessel’s voice is such a pleasant thing to touch your ear holes. and II’s drumming is out of this world. you should totally check out his live drum play throughs on your personal time. especially for hypnosis. Welcome to the obsession! LOL! I will second the suggestions of The Offering, Higher, High Water, Gods, Jaws, and Blood Sport (both versions). I'll add Nazareth, Calcutta, Atlantic (starts very soft but this song hit me hard), Sugar - Don't go in with expectations of what you'll hear. One of the many things I love about them is you can't be sure what they will do next. I will also suggest offerings from II - drum playthroughs of Hypnosis, Alkaline, and Like That. II is an incredible drummer! Hopefully they will come back to the states this year. Saw them in Sept and it was amazing - Worship

Hi, I'm the guy who sent you the Blegh of Vessel on Instagram, The live song is Higher, for our bad luck, that blegh they only do it live, it's not recorded in their studio version, but the song is still a marvel and seeing them live is the glory, if you have the chance don't miss them.

I started taking drumming lessons because of this band been following since hearing Jaws!
Hypnosis, The Offering, Gods, The Love you want, and Jaws are all some other awesome favorites of mine, Alkaline is awesome love when the band comes in one of my favorite parts of any track ever haha
I'll be honest Will Ramos is a big Reason I'm into this band, the cover he did was amazing and then I heard this one and yeah I had to hear more I love any band willing to do things a little different.

Saw them live in Hamburg on Friday. The best experience ever. 2023 will be the year of Sleep Token. Finally! They gathered 175k new spotify subscribers LAST WEEK. Fuck, yes.

Amazing band!
Hypnosis has quite a little chug down at the end of the song.. Higher has one of the nastiest breakdowns they've done in my opinion. Jaws is a phenomenal 90's type song with a killer chorus, amazing drums, and some heaviness as well. BUT! The main thing with this band, if you're distracted easily, is to listen to all the crazy amounts of layers, vocal harmonies, and THE DRUM WORK. My god, that dude is literally up there in the top 10 drummers for me, period. You get what you put into this band, in terms of listening experience. If you're not focused and paying close attention, the songs can seem super dull. It's only when you peel back the layers of this beautiful little onion do you see the absolute beauty and technicality of what these guys do.
Sleep Token is one of VERY few bands I can say sound better live.
It's about damn time you got into some older stuff. They are one of my top 3 for sure.

you just need to go all the way back to the one and two EPs. Strap down and enjoy the ride, cruise thru Sundowning and the Room Below tracks, then dive into TPWBYT, 37 tracks total....ALL are bangers, they haven't made a skipable song. Worship.

I get where you're coming from with having a short attention span and gravitating toward heavier stuff to get like...that kick bc I feel the same way most of the time. I feel very frustrated with slower music bc it just doesn't Do Anything. I was definitely worried when I found out that Chokehold and The Summoning were not "the norm" for Sleep Token's previous albums.
however, it turns out that all of Sleep Token's songs have so much going on in the background without being overly chaotic or overstimulating, even in their slowest songs, that there's something new for my brain to latch onto.
I think slower Sleep Token songs might be an acquired taste if you're working on opening your mind to slower songs, so I agree with comments recommending The Offering, Gods, and Hypnosis being your next listens (especially for similarity to the feel of The Summoning). I see people recommending Blood Sport and The Love That You Want which are both amazing songs, but they might be TOO slow too early in your Sleep Token journey if you were still having some reservations after listening to Alkaline.
Gods is one of Sleep Tokens Heavier songs if you're down to check that one out

Atlantic is one of my favorite songs by them. It's a much softer song but I promise you'll love every bit of it.

their singer hasn't really done muich screaming on studio tracks. I think it's fair to say that he is currently learning and it seems they're possibly going to use more in the future. Still they were never really that hard, but the Music they do is just so f***ing good.

I don't think you would enjoy this whole album. Lots of very slow songs.

Don’t get the hype with this band. I’ve found everything I’ve heard by them incredibly boring.
Everyone has their own opinions. I for one enjoy them quite a bit because their music normally is so melodic and ambient. That’s the good thing about music, there’s something out there for all of us.
Meh I think they’re an overrated band just like say Tool is overrated.
