    You did awesome this week. You found some pretty good sales and markdowns. Store hopping is so worth it. I do the same. Flyer specials and markdowns. Saves a bundle of money

    • @adventuresingroceryland
      @adventuresingroceryland  2 місяці тому +1

      @NattyHomeMaker Do you ever find that people scoff at your store hopping and tell you it's not worth it? Takes too much time or "costs money" driving to the different stores? I find this is such a common misconception and I regularly get comments about it.

    • @NattyHomeMaker
      @NattyHomeMaker 2 місяці тому

      @adventuresingroceryland People actually tell me that too my face lol. I don't get many comments online to be honest. But I've had people in my own personal life say things like. Oh! I only shop at Walmart. It's to expensive everywhere else. Meanwhile they spend $500 a week for two people and a dog. But the way I see it, we must be doing something right. Our fridge, pantry and freezers are full. We never go hungry and we are not paying an arm and a leg for food. We shop at the places that have the deals that week and often have reduced items. And the stores are all in the same location or it's around the same place general area. Just like you said. Its all about shopping wisely. And It saves a ton of money.

    • @NattyHomeMaker
      @NattyHomeMaker 2 місяці тому

      The ones that complain. Are people that hate shopping. That don't like going into stores. They don't like the Deals and sales hunt. It feels like too much work to them. I've noticed people often feel this way. And are willing to spend more just to get in and get out. Maybe those people are the ones leaving comments

    • @adventuresingroceryland
      @adventuresingroceryland  2 місяці тому +1

      @NattyHomeMaker People in my personal life comment on this sometimes as well. I agree with you that obviously we are both managing things right. Otherwise, we wouldn't have ALL THIS FOOD and be eating like royalty. I just carry on.

      @@adventuresingroceryland before C19 they would reduce very similar to 50% off, now, the prices are so ridiculously high, that perhaps it may be 2 or 3 dollars off a package of meat, which, believe me, I am grateful to find, but still doesn't make it easy to purchase. In 2023, I don't think I bought any beef. Now, to buy a chuck roast, it's 7.99 a pound! That was always the cheapest meat you could buy, sometimes as low as 1.99 a pound.

    I really like this challenge. I used to hear all the time "it is cheaper if you buy in bulk", or "it is only a dollar or two more at this store". Dollar or two adds up and people need the disposable income to buy in bulk.

    Although $42 for 2 adults, here in MN where I live would be a bit tight, I know its a much bigger challenge in Canada. To be fair though, we dont have your gas coupons, nor your points that you use usually either, and we NEVER have 50% off on our meat either. You really scored on getting some great proteins 50% off the first week. I dont think you will struggle at all this week, except for snacks/treats. Good for you!

    Great deals and great shopping skills! I feel that you could have gotten two of the Silk milk containers at that price. I don’t think almond milk would go bad in that short of a time frame and you would have affordable milk for next week. I assume you could also freeze almond milk? I do understand that stocking up is hard to do on such a limited budget. Another question, were those oats quick oats or do you need to cook them for a longer amount of time? Just wondering when there is no packaging at Bulk Barn? I rarely shop there. Can’t wait for Friday!
