Angeli 100%takes that shot we’ve seen him do it in the game. Friendly reminder angeli has thrown 9 touchdowns in 53 attempts at notre dame

Angeli's only issue comes when he has too much time. He's been excellent when he's decisive.

@@diggingmystyle Too much time when receivers are covered, I totally agree. That said, would you rather your quarterback give up a poor sack on occasion yet usually make good reads and throw well, or have a quarterback who has no confidence in his passing and doesn’t understand how to read a defense? The first can learn to throw it away or run, but the second is in trouble. Not to mention, the first has another year of eligibility remaining, while the second is done after this season.

Yeah, BUT how many sacks has Angeli taken? That’s something that no one seems to be talking about. Angeli has almost zero scrambling ability in comparison to Riley. I’d rather see Riley improve playing a weak schedule vs Angeli throwing pics and taking sacks AND not picking up those 1st down ls on busted plays on 3rd and 7. Riley has more to offer to the team

@@vando_bando I believe he took 3 against Purdue, and to me 2 were avoidable, or at least should not have been so easy. But consider that during last season, he attempted 44 passes, and was sacked 2 times. He threw 7 touchdowns in 44 attempts, and completed 77% of his passes. With stats like that I am willing to accept a bad sack at times.
There is no way to prove this, but I do think Saturday was a bit of an outlier in that sense because of the loss to NIU, and all of the quarterback questions all week. His sacks Saturday were not good, but I do think that problem will be easy to fix, while Leonard’s poor throwing, inability to properly read defenses, inability to keep his eyes downfield, and his happy feet in the pocket as a senior are much more concerning.
And regarding picks, Angeli has only thrown 1 in 53 passing attempts, so that does not concern me at all. Of course, he will throw more if given the chance to play regularly, but I think interceptions are hugely more concerning with Leonard than with Angeli.

@@vando_bando I very much disagree angeli can take off running and pick up a first down. He’s a lot faster than Sam Hartman, but not as fast as Buckner or Riley. I don’t think angeli taking sacks is an issue is ability to throw makes up for it. He’s not Caleb Williams and that’s ok. Angeli has thrown one interception off a tipped ball. How may interceptions has Riley thrown? And how many passing touchdowns? We’re comparing a redshirt sophomore to a 5th year senior. Riley isn’t getting any better. If Riley has the most to offer out of the qb room against NIU than ND is screwed

Either u see it, or u don't. Either u get it , or u don't. Running, he can, passing he can't

It was obvious watching the game live that he is not comfortable being in the pocket. By the time he scrambles the plays are dead and the receivers are not doing well with scramble drill. Why not just roll him out right away? If he isn’t comfortable in the pocket, roll him out. It’s too late to fix his pocket presence.

riley is still best option. With this oline (frosh LT) angeli can make more throws. However, he takes way to many sacks that essentially drive killers. If WR's and TE's bock their butts off on 2nd level love and price will get so much YAC on 2nd level. Just run riley with more QB powers on 2nd and 3rd and short. I'm surprised ND doesn't have a wildcat package for short yardage this year. Heck even Tyler Buckner could run it. Also, with Faison back you could see a few more explosive plays on sweeps or pass plays. We will see!

He can't read defenses and can't anticipate where where to throw...he'll get shut down again when a team stacks the box end of freaking story
