Someone asked why departments need dozers, and the answer sholbe obvious. A. Construct afir break to keep the fire from jumping across the break. B. To build access roads to get apparatus to th fire scene as possibl to control and suppress the main body of the fire. C. To move as much fuel away from the as possible
Awesome video stay safe out there this year cal fire crews and thank you for all you do from a former volunteer fire fighter I pray that all the brothers and sisters out there stay safe one thing I leard is once you do time on a fire department your a brother for life that's how I look at things god bless cal fire without cal fire California would be in trouble so thank you for all you do
Yeah I had a feeling it would be good when the dozer operator came out looked at the smoke, looked at me and said " I guess I should get dressed" before anyone was punched out for it. Also, I missed videoing it but the other engine that us usually there saw it and called it in. They went by the station code 3 so it was a whole house response. If you do come out this way remember that Southern California and Northern California as way differed, make time to see both.
I have worked a quiet a few wildfires over the last 7 years in NV, AZ, UT, CO, ID and acouple in CA but is this station 100 percent wildfires or do they do the normal day to day in the City?
Hello, This station is a bit confusing because it is actually two stations. Part of it is South Santa Clara County Fire Protection District Station 1. That is the Type 1 engine and water tender. The other part is Cal Fire Santa Clara Unit Station 11. That is the Dozer and Type 3 engine. So. Santa Clara and the city of Morgan Hill both contract with Cal fire to provide personnel and dispatch services. Dispatch depends on where the incident is. In this case it was on the edge of Morgan Hill so everyone got invited.
Lyon AI6F ya that's pretty awesome too have a semi like that and to have one building and 2 different set-ups like that way cheaper to build and a good cost savings yearly in bills and resources. The only Riggs that came out to the carpenter1 fire were private companies that had semi with dozer's and the dozer's they had we're D10s, D11s and D8s. Those private companies that get contacts like those make a lot of money and 90 percent of them when they are on any fire don't have to pay for broken part's that acure after their DOT checkin at the beginning and DOT check on the end. Which is huge perk to thier contract.
That is pretty typical of the stations in our unit. This station is a bit different because it is technically two stations in one. Part of the station is South Santa Clara Co. FPD Station 1 the other part is Cal Fire Santa Clara Unit Station 11. South County provides engines and such Cal Fire staffs them and provides Dispatch.
A good bit of it comes down to funding and who is paying for what. Other municipalities can contract with Cal Fire to provide some or all of the needed fire protection and related emergency services. In this case, South Santa Clara Co. Fire Protection District has contracted with Cal Fire to provide dispatch services, personnel, and station space amongst other things from Cal Fire. So. SCCo FPD has provided the engines, BUT Cal Fire maintains them in the State shops at the same facility (this is the Santa Clara Unit Headquarters. Other things Cal Fire does includes providing lifeguards at Pismo Beach down in San Luis Obispo where they also provide fire and rescue services. Cal Fire also provides fire services to Riverside County including airport firefighting. So it is safe to say, Cal Fire is truly an all hazard fire department.
I will have to reach out to you sometime because I have a hot shot transporting rig and I get a lot of calls for emergency transporting job. If one of the DC air tankers or any other aircraft is in need of a engine's or stuff like that the BLM calls me and I go where to pick up that is needed ASAP and I get a police escort from where ever I pick up the equipment all the way to the drop off location so that there down time is minual.
Just wondering, how can California keep building developments and expanding when it seems they have little to no water to spare to supply this population growth?
No such thing as a stupid question. Dozers are used to cut fire line on wildland fires. They cut good line and never get tired. However, it is dangerous work. We just lost a Dozer Operator on the Ferguson Fire up by Yosemite.
They are the state fire department for California. They handle mainly wildland fire fighting. But also do everything else a city fire department does. They also staff some city/county departments. They also over see all of California's fire fighting procedures and tactics and other firefighter responsibilities.
Cal Fire is the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. We are responsible for state lands and we do a lot of contract services. In this case South Santa Clara Co FPD contracts Cal Fire to provide personnel and dispatch services, same thing with the City of Morgan Hill. Here is a good video on Cal Fire: ua-cam.com/video/JR8j09qyeyE/v-deo.html
Very cool video. Never thought id see a fire dozer blazing down the road with sirens on 👍
We have a special firefighter's tank in Czech Republic, as you can see here: ua-cam.com/video/lQX7t-bjKYE/v-deo.html
That is one awesome looking rig that transporter and that Dozer
Cool dozer rig...one stack Mack with a window in the back!
one stack mack with no shack on the back!!
3:02 and one Mack with the old school Hadley H0910C Air horn!
It's a real life Paw Patrol with a rescue dozer and all. Lmao
xD
Well, paw patrol is based off of real life, huh?

Fantastic catches
Thanks!
Some people just have no regard for emergency vehicles responding with lights & sirens blaring !! 😌

Any idea what make of trailer that is it looks really nice
Hello, I really don't know. I heard that they might be getting a new one soon. They already have a new transport truck that they got last year.
Very cool........
Thanks!
You know its bad when the Dozer rolls out.
They are standard for Cal Fire and some local government departments on every medium and high wildland fire dispatch here in California.
UNITS DISPATCHED : WT67 CFD1640 E67
❤🚒
1:10 I’m sorry what ! Did that have a Q. Awesome catches
I don't think it's a Q but it does have a mechanical siren. The only pickup in the unit to have one.
What the heck type fire station is this??? Ohhhh btw good catch buddy
FLORIDAJESUSBOY 777 it's a wild land fire station
That is pretty typical of the stations in our unit. This station is a bit different because it is technically two stations in one. Part of the station is South Santa Clara Co. Lyon AI6F ohhh okay thanks buddy
Lyon AI6F how is that possible for it two be two different things

am I crazy or does the dozed truck has lights and siren
All dozer's(the semi trucks, not the actual tractor) in California fire departments have lights and sirens on them
Yep, sure does. Thats 39 tons of Code 3.
Is that smoke you see in the background the fire?
Yes, right at the beginning of the video. It is actually quite a bit farther away than it looks in the video.
I will have to reach out to you sometime because I have a hot shot transporting rig and I get a lot of calls for emergency transporting job. That sounds liek a pretty interesting gig. I think we currently have a contract dozer as out first due.
Nice video !!
Just wondering, how can California keep building developments and expanding when it seems they have little to no water to spare to supply this population growth?
Just like it always has, by stealing water from northern cali and their neigbors
I wonder that myself.
Probably stupid question but why does a fire department need a dozer?
No such thing as a stupid question. Dozers are used to cut fire line on wildland fires. They cut good line and never get tired. However, it is dangerous work. We just lost a Dozer Operator on the Ferguson Fire up by Yosemite.
Lyon AI6F..and here in Redding..
Be safe up there!
To push all the junk Ferraras out of the way. LOL
I live in a small in Texas and our fire department has a dozer truck, they mostly use it for grass fires though
What is Cal Fire? Some private fire department or something?
Steve Franklin they respond to wild fires too big for a normal fire department to handle. They are state funded.
They are the state fire department for California. They handle mainly wildland fire fighting. But also do everything else a city fire department does. They also staff some city/county departments. They also over see all of California's fire fighting procedures and tactics and other firefighter responsibilities.

(Cal fire) State of California fire Department. Used to be (CDF) California Department of forestry and fire protection.
