One could argue that when done properly this kind of hairline looks even more natural than a lace-front wig. There's no lace to disguise, so it's pretty seamless.
Yes yes yes! I was definitely one of those annoying people begging for an *IN-DEPTH* tutorial for this! I have so many old wigs who knows what I can salvage now! And baby this orange is YOUR color!
Hello - please let me recommend the Marilyn Tease Brush for this technique. Back in the 90’s ( Natasha Simms, me ) - living in Milwaukee, former miss LaCage lol - we didn’t have lace. I also would use a disposable razor and a tooth brush to smooth down the final hair line. It creates peaks and valleys that help fool the eye. Best!
Jaymes you are literally my fairy godmother, I've been rewatching that first Rupaul video over and over so that I could figure out how to do a hairline! Thank you so much!!!
Interesting point about the theatre vs drag origins. Considering the word drag originated from Shakespeare I'm not too sure that the two *don't* overlap in a way. I think it was Sasha on a Build Series interview that said that the art of drag has been around for centuries, and doesn't need to re-label or rebrand itself in the mainstream space to be celebrated or accepted (e.g. calling drag in museum spaces as generic performance art). What your are doing here is art and upholding its history and legacy. Cheers to you, Jaymes!
Whenever I see a wig with this sort of hairline all I can think of is the earlier seasons of drag race when literally every single girl had at least one but there didn't seem to be a single lace front in sight (although with that season 1 filter who's to say for sure aha)
Love the queens that are all about high fashion and "you could never, have never" however Jaymes is just so relatable. Will always come back to your channel 💕 you Jaymes
Legit watching everyone single video that you’ve done with wigs I’m always blown away. I mean honey you’ve taken wigs that look cheap as hell and have honestly done a major transformation and they always turn out great i love it ❤️
I know Jaymes Mansfield is a wig channel (& I love it! I watch ALL her videos), I would LOVE to see a complete get ready with me from her! Down from her very first step of putting on moisturizer to her wig. I’ve learned so much about wig from Jaymes that I feel like I could FINALLY buy my first wig and wear it ALL bc of her 🤩
mama how in the hell do you always have the most gorgeous backdrops!? am I just being dumb or something? I notice how unique n beautiful they are every single time and I need to know!!!
Miss jaymes! you are a life safer! I have a pink hard front and i have been researching everywhere about rooting a hard front wig. Just want big backcombed to the gods hair and this is the solution! Thanks queen!
I got a really good idea how to do that by Watching the behind the scenes of the music video stun with Alaska/GIA gun . GIA styles Alaska's wig in the video in a very high ponytail. (Doesn't explain it but just shows how it's done)
I am a licensed hairstylist but I don’t know much about wigs we go over it very little in school but I even debate in trying wigs because I enjoy changing my hair and wasn’t sure if I did end up with one like this besides a lace front what to do this is so cool even for me to watch if any of my friends need help I’m definitely sending them links from Jaymes and I even said to check out videos from drag queens if they need help with wigs before lol
Tell me she don’t look like the fairy godmother from Shrek right now...
I'll make you fancy, I'll make you great
The kind of gal a prince would date
I will never root a hard front wig, or even own a lace front wig but I will watch Jaymes put her hands on anything till the day I die.
Haha same I'll never buy a wig I just find her really amusing to watch
jaymes is one of the only people whose delivery actually makes me look forward to the sponsorship part of the video. every single time
Ikr!!
harusaurus ugh honestly trueeee everyone else is just like “after this message” BOOORINNGGG
Yes 😢 Jaymes is keeping me going during 2020 🥺👉👈 love you Ms. Jaymes
Yo hago lo mismo.!!!
You should do a video where you have a dirt-cheap wig and a very high-quality wig, and you try to make the same style on both of them!!
That would be easy if you will sponsor either the two of the wigs you are requesting
No you should do that
@@FD-ye9wz why me

I agreeeee
I spread cream cheese on my wigs hairlines and let the rats eat at it to get a rooted hairline
*We’re like the government we got things to hide* TEA
The Outsider I’m screaming
hahahahahahahahaha LOL
I want a queen to go on Drag Race wearing one of the Rupaul wigs and Michelle try critiquing it lol
I read the "Like Super Informative" part of the title in Jayme's voice. Before I clicked on the video
Lol
Me Too lol ❤ Love Me Some JayJay
It's outrageous how influential you are now. Truly, truly outrageous.
I love when our queen gets super into what shes doing and starts talking normally x)
Yes yes yes! I was definitely one of those annoying people begging for an *IN-DEPTH* tutorial for this! I have so many old wigs who knows what I can salvage now! And baby this orange is YOUR color!
Love that citrus colored sequin outfit! I like mix of modern clothing with the vintage hair

I hope you did well!!!
Who is this biological, naturally full-haired woman and why is she telling me how to style a hard front wig 🧐
looks so expensive, omg the mastery
Jaymes you are literally my fairy godmother, I've been rewatching that first Rupaul video over and over so that I could figure out how to do a hairline! Thank you so much!!!
ok but can we talk about how flawless this eye look is..
I can never tell where Jaymes' tig ol' bitties end lol
you can see the line right below the top of her neck, it cuts off her “double” chin a bit
Under the *chin at the top, vestlines for the rest (sorry)
Yes! Even on some of these sleeveless dresses, the skin color is usually super flawless

Oh my gosh thank you, you're the only one I've found who demonstrates how to do a rooted hairline on a hard front wig!
I know Jaymes Mansfield is a wig channel (& I love it! I watch ALL her videos), I would LOVE to see a complete get ready with me from her! Jaymes, can you do a video on how to make a very high ponytail? Like Gia gun that has like a solid part holding it up.
I got a really good idea how to do that by Watching the behind the scenes of the music video stun with Alaska/GIA gun . GIA styles Alaska's wig in the video in a very high ponytail. (Doesn't explain it but just shows how it's done)
Damn this is some magic, who knew it was possible to make hard front wigs look so good :o

I’m actually restyling this same color and style. She was thrifted and ROUGH out the package. Now she’s glammed up again.
I still think about how good this hair line is to this day. It’s better than some of my lacefronts.
