After working with oil pastels and regular pastels in Art Class, i actually know what you're doing now. You start with the background and work your way to the front view. Ive gotten better on backgrounds, but the one thing i need to work on is shading and shading with color. I always love watching your videos. They really inspire me to try new things.
You can always start at a gray-scale, and once your done with shading and highlights make a layer and move it below the highlights and shadows and color on that layer and all of it will be highlighted and dark where you want it and you don't have to do color shading. try a tutorial on it from Austin bachelor he's so good and teaches you how to do that on procreate
The paintings is so beautiful. I love the lighting and the colours. I also love how you were able to make the fur looks so scruffy. I’m not sure why but I always appreciate the painting even more after watching the speed painting.

@Clockbirds I've noticed that in most of your peices, the characters are facing to to side or their head is tilted just to the side while facing forward, enough to hide a fraction of the face. While i understand that the angle of the head is much more natural, like a picture. But. I would like to see a peice facing completely forward, just to deviate from your usual work.

What brush did you use for the stars and fireflies (or floating lights)? I've been trying to find a decent brush for them but haven't had much luck recently. Or better yet, could you do a tutorial on them? I have yet to get the technique down.
Lighting tutorial? Maybe? Hehe. Anyway, how do you plan these out? Where do you get the idea for dynamic poses, and oh my god do I have trouble fitting everything onto the page.
For lighting... I'd suggest just observing the real world and studying and practicing with color theory. For example this piece is a great example of color theory and could fit more into a "split complementary" color scheme. From the green dragon, the primarily blue sky and background, and to top it off the red "fireflies" completing the split complementary set. As for poses, try and imagine different angles and positions something can be placed in. It's also extremely helpful to look at references. Even for mythical creatures like this, she could have easily used snakes, eels, or even worms as reference. If not for exact poses, then at least ideas. Be creative with your references!
