6:56 Remenber when Faith said Giles was 'young and cute' for a Watcher, Buffy said 'Put your hand up if eww' and everyone EXCEPT Willow puts their hand up!
I skipped this one on my last rewatch. After finishing the whole show I thought, "Wait, where was the part where Giles sang at the café?". Lesson learned. Never skip an episode.
Here's a full recording of Tony Head (Giles) covering "Behind Blue Eyes": ua-cam.com/video/nqH01B6BQiM/v-deo.html This other song from an album he released called, "Cry" is also excellent: ua-cam.com/video/nIsmEdVjf48/v-deo.html And then there's this one.... : ua-cam.com/video/Lilv4d9Z7o8/v-deo.html
I was waiting for your reaction to troubadour Giles. Now think back to Faith, Hope and Trick when Faith comments on Giles' attractiveness, Buffy says "Raise your hand if ewww!" and Willow DOESN'T RAISE HER HAND!
OMG Thank you SoFie!!! I don't usually watch reactions to this episode because it's one of my least favs, so I haven't seen the scene with Giles in years! I knew it existed, but I couldn't remember which episode it was in! Finally a reactor had their priorities right in what gets featured on the thumbnail 😊
Even if the linchpin to the episode wasn't Buffy and Riley having sex, this episode would still be on my bottom favorites. I once watched it early on and had forgotton about that aspect of the episode and was remembering the few moments I enjoyed (Spike & Anya & Xander's issues, Giles singing and the group's reaction to said singing as examples), and none of the good moments save the episode from the bottom of the least favorite part of the list episode. I wish they did because those are good moments.
I always found this episode the most skippable . However when I make myself watch it it's actually pretty good. It would have been better if Buffy had something to do other than Riley.
@@hardybryan She didn't "fold", it's not like she was even trying to hide what she did, she didn't think it was wrong. I guess nobody has ever confronted her about it before.
Not my favorite episode, except for Giles. He was, unfortunately, playing a Taylor guitar, instead of a Martin (bragging that I own TWO Martins!) Thank you for the reaction.
In 1991 Anthony Steward Head performed Dr. Frank N. Furter in the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Here ua-cam.com/video/-LH43hTh5KI/v-deo.html you have Amber Benson (Tara) and ASH (Giles) performing songs of Janet Wise and Dr. Frank N. Furter. There exists a complete recording of a performance of the musical in the London Picadilly Theatre in 1991 with Anthony in UA-cam.
I wasn't a fan of this episode, the only redeeming parts are all Giles' parts, his singing 🥵, telling the old lady off and "...In the midst of all that, do you really think they were keeping it up...oh, for a different phrasing" 🤣 Yes I am aware I have a serious crush on Giles/Tony 🤣
Oh, after your reaction to Giles' singing I can wait for my favourite episode. I can't tell which and why, baceause of spoilers, but the reaction will be glorious for sure:D
So this is widely considered one of the worst episodes in the show's run, an opinion I tend to agree with. That said, like any Buffy episode, it still has plenty of great moments, probably topped by Giles singing. Though as someone who loves both Anya and Spike, I always enjoy when they hang out. Spoiler: Ok maybe not every time always, but they usually have a fun dynamic where they either uplift each other or tear each other apart, or both.
This episode is under rated imo because people don't like Riley and are uncomfortable around the deliberately uncomfortable early adolescent sexuality subplot (they shoulda used older actors there tbh)
@@sgcastle8389 no the ghost kids. People are weirded out by the implication those kids had like repressed sexual energy or whatever. I have family members who worked with young offenders so it's no shock to me. But yeah I'm saying there are two “ick” factors that put most people off the episode, when personally I think the episode is fine and advances the Xander and Anya relationship a little.
My least favorite episode in the series. Worst episode of the season for me, if not the series, but luckily there are few truly bad eps of Buffy so that's saying a lot about the quality of the show overall.
One of the poorer episodes of the whole series. The situation with Anya and Xander becoming somewhat tiresome, in that Anya is constantly pressurizing Xander for sex, we know she is a demon and doesn't understand human emotions and desires, and while it is as funny at first it is really overdone here. A very ropey plot, and a real filler of an episode which sums up much of S4. So much better to come in the brilliant S5.

6:24 The fact that you had Willow's expression before she did here was awesome and hilarious. 🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha you had WIllow's face at the Giles performin scene, priceless XD
Finally, someone who notices his ear ring
no one ever mentions it 😭
Yep, you and Willow had the same reaction when you first saw Giles singing.
We all have a crush on Giles. Willow's face is all of ours. 😍

I'm not a fan of this episode but it has some great moments. Mostly surrounding Giles. Also Spike and Anya :)
Giles singing so beautiful he has a amazing voice
Willow looking at Giles like a piece of meat is one of my favorite moments.

Yes!
Have you seen Repo the genetic opera? He's awesome in it!
I love his version of Sweet Transvestite.
@@NeuroticNicky87 He thought you were the c-c-c-candy man.
So, what you're saying is, you lose all self control when you see Giles singing.... ;-)
I'm afraid one special reaction episode in the future will be nsfw
Giles singing is always everything
Anthony Stewart Head (Giles) also plays the male lead in a rock musical/horror movie. Its called Repo The Genetic Opera. You should check it out.
I was waiting for your reaction to troubadour Giles. Now think back to Faith, Hope and Trick when Faith comments on Giles' attractiveness, Buffy says "Raise your hand if ewww!" and Willow DOESN'T RAISE HER HAND!
I think you'd absolutely love watching Repo: The Genetic Opera! as Giles sings a few songs in it!
If I remember correctly, this episode was Joss' answer to the critics saying BtVS is too violent. So, he made an episode full of sex instead.
In real life, "Giles" brother had a hit song called "One Night in Bangkok".
Yes. It was from the soundtrack to a Broadway play called "Chess". It was actually on heavy rotation on MTV for awhile!
And ASH eventually took over his role in the musical
The Giles crush is legit...
You HAVE to watch Repo: The Genetic Opera - the guy who plays Giles sings a lot.
You are not dreaming, you are not High.. Giles is singing!! 🎶😆

Love your lipstick!
Murray Head (One Night in Bangkok) is his brother.
Anthony Head has at least one album. I know one has the complete version of that song.
Giles singing 👍 excellent video ❤️ if you want to see more of Anthony Stewart Head singing check out a movie called Repo the Genetic Opera
I second that recommendation!!! Love that movie.

Yeah Buffy having marathon nookie with Captain Cardboard is something I wish I could erase from my memory
This episode gets help prove 1 thing. Men arelike wine. They get better with age. And I'll keep repeating that EVERY CHANCE I get. LOL
real singer watches real watcher sing: REACTION
I'm not a fan of this episode but Giles singing makes up for it
This episode is different because the main evil is just a twisted old woman instead of a demon or monster from Hell.
A twisted old woman who got away with it for decades, but folded under 20 seconds of weak interrogation.
I always found this episode the most skippable . However when I make myself watch it it's actually pretty good. It would have been better if Buffy had something to do other than Riley.

He's a very talented guy.
Looks like the casting directors only picked the best.
He also does Repo which is pretty cheesey but fun.
Thanks for that. I'd somehow missed that clip, Amber was was great and now I'm picturing Willow seeing Giles as Frank'n'furter ....
