Alfa Romeo Junior 2025 review: New small SUV offers hybrid and electric options to target Lexus LBX

- Don't call it the Milano, the Junior is Alfa Romeo's next top model, with the all-new small SUV slotting in underneath its segment-straddling Tonale and mid-size Stelvio siblings. As such, the Junior is tasked with delivering the iconic Italian brand much-needed incremental sales volume, which it will need to do against the Lexus LBX and soon-to-discontinued Audi Q2.
To stand out from the crowd, the Junior offers three powertrain options: a 100kW 'self-charging' series-parallel petrol-electric hybrid and two fully electric vehicles, with the latter split between 118kW/260Nm Elettrica and 207kW/345Nm Veloce 280 versions. Their shared 54kW battery delivers up to 410km of driving range.
But there's more to the Junior than just what's under the bonnet (I mean, just look at it). In this expert review, CarsGuide Managing Editor Tim Nicholson travels to Italy to get behind the wheel of the small SUV's Elettrica Veloce 280 flagship prior to its Australian release date in the second half of 2025.

the seats are god dam good looking!!
I prefer the look of the Tonale.
I've been going through the interior of my 156 sportwagon recently and I really do appreciate the lovely tan leather interior, and the details, like the door trim design. It even has a center arm rest.
Great looking car.
Great looking vehicle
Absolutely love the shape & design. Worried about the built quality that Alfa Romeo has been renowned for.
STUNNING🔥🔥🔥
... and Giulia and Stelvio since 24...the head lights
Need to be priced no higher than $50000 DA to stand any chance
Looks good, but the door cats look cheap and don't match the dash.
Lovely car
I like Italian, Japanese and germany Cars 🙂🙂👍👍👍
Nice car.
Given their stand on the Milano name I wonder why the Italian government never said anything about the KIA Sorrento? There will always be nay-sayers but this thing behaves like an Alfa should. Can’t wait to take one for a test drive when it comes to Oz. I’ll probably get a hybrid as our new shopping/city car if it has a reasonable all-electric range.
the grill is horrible
Alfa Romeo better than Ford 🙂🙂
Yep, you are probably going to meet a lot of new people. Like car mechanics, etc...
Or other alfistis. I have a 2017 Giulia with 200k km on it I’ve never had an issue- Zero issues
@@hovigyeterian1046 Honestly, congratulations, lucky guy.
@@sabotter Sure, just like buying most any modern car.
Range ?? Likely to be 200km real world- useless
Just burn your money. Less hassle.
It's an Alfa and it's an EV. Years of trouble free motoring there 🤣🤭
Jesus that haircut, seriously? Couldn’t concentrate on the beautiful Alfa. Amazing to me that I’ve seen 3 Australian reviews so far re the Junior, Australian market only purchased a total of 716 vehicles in total for 2023.
The front looks ugly
