@@YasapYaakov018 and Transformoholic Yeah, I jumped on it immediately. I've had him now for about 3 or 4 years and he looks really good. I also put some Toyhax decals on him and he looks even better.
I also like all the little words on the Zeta bots…the “step up” “danger” “caution” the arrows on them. Zeta holds up great. If I had got invested in FT I probably would’ve went in that direction, but I’m glad I didn’t. Jester with the combined parts costing almost as much as Zeta in its entirety is crazy though. FT wins in bot and alt mode for me, but combined I’d still prefer Zeta. Great video!
Man another positive about Zetas price point is the fact that you can buy 2 sets of Zeta for the price of FansToys. That gives you a cool option of having Alt mode/and or Combiner..and robot mode/or combiner for the other...Wow, can almost get 3 sets of Zeta for one FTs..Great review, and thanks.
Thanks for doing this TMReviews!! First real comparison video I’ve seen. Glad I stuck with me Zeta. Even tho this is nice. I can’t justify the price. For my budget anyway.
No. First Zeta version was pretty crap. Every body were complaining. They've changed it over the years and made it better. Go look at the first Zeta reviews, and you'll find them different from the now version.
I appreciate the honesty and effort in this video, free from any bias. Your comparison videos often helped me solidify my choices and this one isn't any different. Thanks for doing a tremendous job!
Great fair Vs. as always. I am Sticking with my Zeta with JummyH 3D printed accessories for the faction label, wing, hip skirts, and back filler . He is nicely toon accurate at a fraction of the price. FT will stay in bot mode and the FT combiner parts will get sprinkled into the display as background elements in flight stand mode. I paid too much for them not to use them in some way and leaving them in the box in my basement is likely not good for their long term value.
True lol I been thinking the same thing on how to display the FT combiner parts when I’m using zeta for combine mode and FT for robot mode. Paid too much damn money to keep them in the box 📦
Wow thank you for all the videos. I know this was a lot of work. One other thing i like about the zeta is that it comes in a gift box which i really like.
I just ordered my Zeta set after watching this. After years of being on the fence about whether I should even bother (I have the JiuJiang version and that was enough at 100 bucks to fill the gap in the shelf). The FansToys IS beautiful and their bot modes are by far better. But for me, I needed to properly fill my combiners display and Zeta will do that brilliantly for what now seems a very reasonable price. LOL. And the plus side to all this is now I will have a Superion set that I might actually play with. Thanks dude
UPDATE: The online store I ordered Zeta from has raised their price as of today by $120. Was $449, now it s $569. Glad I completed my order before they decided to gouge the people not ordering the FT. LOL
I have both and displaying FT in bot mode and ZT in combined mode. I only wish the combining parts for FT came from a separate box as an optional item.
For the price, the time it took for this to come out and the idea that fans toys are supposed to be peak transformers, slingshot and fireflight have both been a let down as well as the finished combiner. How does a cheap and to be fair, budget Zeta combiner hold its own againt the premium quality fans toys combiner?
Yup, having the Zeta, it definitely holds up against FT's much more expensive option that took 5 years to come out so you'd expect a vast improvement, especially for that price. I'd pick up the FT versions but I just can't see paying that much for them although I do have Maverick but he was less than $200.
Nothing changes for me. Zeta stays as my combined form. FT's will be the individual bot mode. Zeta changed the game when it came to Combiners. I seriously hope they continue doing Combiners. I want to see a Zeta Computron, Abominus and Predaking. And because I don't really trust XTB, if they were to announce a Defensor, I would be all in despite already purchasing the few XTB Protectobots that are available
Gotta give Zeta credit, as FT got inspired by some of the combing engineering from Zeta. Both are very similar but overall especially price Zeta does it for me…it still holds up against FT. Now robot mode wise FT, wins that! That’s why I’m displaying them. But great VS. and I hope you’re feeling bro! 👍🏽
Thanks for doing this TMReviews!! First real comparison video I’ve seen. Glad I stuck with me Zeta. Even tho the Fanstoys is nice. I can’t justify the price. For my budget anyway.
Fanstoys looks good! I collect FT figures, but I cannot see spending that amount of coin to replace my Zeta with the FT. Maybe one day I'll buy the FT and display them individually. For now, I love my Zeta!
I love my Zeta Superion, Bruticus, and Toy Worlds Devastator. Hard to beat. Not perfect, and think if they revisited and cleaned up, they would be right up there with FT. That said, I also have FTs on the way. They will be my Bot modes.
Have metallic Zeta too but I don’t remember that chest piece, need to check my box for it. The plastic on zeta is a lot thinner and not the best quality. Had the panel for arm connection break off with little force. Still a fantastic combiner. Going to keep FT in bot mode and zeta in combine mode.
Consider adding a “poseability” category where you try to get superhero landing pose. Posing is so important for epic on shelf display. Zeta would take it where this ft can barely do an A stance. Different than your articulation category that focuses on points.
A good comparison but I was not expecting a tie. It’s proof to how good Zeta still is. Overall, when I finish the FT set they will be in BOT mode alongside Zeta in combined mode. Thank you again TM Reviews! 👍🏻
Not sure if the metallic version can do this but the OG can. I would add a point for gimmicks as the Zeta jets can have the wings removed to give him a cleaner look. Appreciate the side by side comparison and I'll stick with Zeta.
Great review. I really appreciate putting in the time and commitment to get this out so quickly!! Saying I had 3 sets of each to decide on for display and not able to resale them ... 55/45 - I still think Zeta would be my combined mode. Hard get past the awesome FT head and hands ect, but the shoulders and bot wings bug me :/ (you can remove the wings on the Zeta) 50/50 - Torn on bot mode, I'll need to mess around with them... I may pick up another Zeta on the cheap if I find I like them more. 100 - Fanstoys is 1000% alt mode!! Even though they don't have some of the gimmicks the look is far superior. That being said... for 1 set I would go Fanstoys. (I will soon have a set of both, and likely will swap the modes around with them from time to time depends on how paint may scratch/chip) Good luck for those trying to figure out what they want!!
I'm a little confused on the point you gave fans toys for the engineering, and used the gimmick as the justification, when earlier in the video, you already gave the gimmick a point in its own category. That's 2 points for the same reason, in different categories. Also, on your combine mode video for fans toys, you had more frustration and issue with the leg limbs wing flaps not sitting in place or staying pegged in, whereas here, it was a mild, almost non-criticism. I think that should have been a notable engineering critique.
lol this is probably the most vanilla “I don’t want to piss my viewers off” review on UA-cam. My man even stated he is using fanstoys as his combined AND bot mode displays. You zeta guys need to know that what you have is indeed “good enough”. Is it Fanstoys good? No, but it will do in a pinch. This review has accomplished its goal of making sure everyone got a trophy.
That was definitely not my goal, FansToys is the superior company overall but given that this is their first combiner they have made some mistakes (price, weight, a few articulation areas). That's why zeta was able to tie. If my goal was to "avoid pissing people off" I wouldn't even do these videos, because believe me they come with a lot of hate
I got my Zeta Superion for 199 clearance a few years back at tf source and another 199 for the yellow toyworld devastator sets. Zeta still looks good and holds up great so i pass on that fans toys. Great review and comparison as always.
Don’t get me wrong. Masterpieces are amazing engineering and a work of art. I personally will not spend hundreds on these. The way you have to be careful just to lift the arm is not for me. I collect transformers generations. I like what Takara and Hasbro are doing. I know one day they will redo Superion. Nice review. Love TMreviews
Zeta is truly bang for your buck. I have both too. Waiting for slingshot to arrive & will be displaying FT’s in team mode display and keep Zeta for Combine mode. Too much work to un combine and do the switcheroo. They both look great though. Thanks for this comparison.
Great comparison, I think it's incredible how well the Zeta holds up after all these years, and especially at that price, I picked mine up second hand for £300 and it's absolutely solid, the Fans Toys one does look good but damn, that price for the complete set... I could have both Zeta combiners and ToyWorld Devy and still have change for fish and chips. Just waiting now for Dead End from FT to complete my Stunticons...
Good comparison video... personally, i dont like the shoulder joints as far as articulation goes on the FT because it doesn't look like a natural arm movement...i do like the heroic look of the FT but Zeta has the overall combiner game on lock...FT bots are great just as all their bots are...i knew that weight of diecast was going to be a problem although I give them GREAT credit for working around it as nobody else has or probably will!!!
I am shocked Zeta won in Articulation, and you didn't even count how the hips can slide back and forth so that you can redistribute the upper body weight.
I am very happy with my Zeta. Only wanted Superion to balance my Autobot forces against Decepticon. I would never allow Defensor into the mix, but would love Computron. Fans Toys are hit and miss these days... and all this obsession with toon accurate is demented. Much more fun to strike a balance.
The fanstoys probably looks a 'smidge better' in combined mode, but honestly the metallic Zeta is still absolutely fantastic. I'll use my fanstoys set for bot mode, they're vastly superior in that mode, but there's no way I'm going to replace the Zeta for Combined mode for a 'smidge better.' One set of FT (excellent bots), one set of Zeta metallic (excellent combiner).
Combiner mode.,Zeta , hands down. Zeta's larger chest plate just looks more menacing . Both combiners look great, personally I prefer more detailed panel lines. Yes, the hands DO splay. Fanstoys for my bot team display. Those individual bots are "Superior " by far.
I disagree on the articulation. I think the greater range of movement in the ab crunch and knee bend would warrant FT taking articulation, but I still think it's a tie anyway. They both look really good and I think it's just a matter of how much people are willing to pay for a Superion. Nice to see them compared after all this time.
Good thing I ordered my first three FT Aerialbots when they first came out... I just looked it up and I paid $119.99 for Air Raid and Skydive... $179.99 for Silverbolt back in 2019
The only thing I wish I could change on the Zeta is the chest wings. Id like to be able to swap the chest wings out and install some kind of filler pieces that will make the chest like G1/ Fanstoys.
Maybe on the cartoon accuracy you could have given the point to Fanstoys as the Zats head mask is wrong, and the gun on the arm for FansToy also more accurate. Splitting hairs I know, but maybe enough to edge out Zata for the accuracy point. Great review! Both amazing combinors. You win whichever one you have! 🎉
Much closer versus than I initially thought. Engineering and Transformation are my more important categories and surprising results given the release date difference. Just out of curiosity, I might have missed it, what is the weight difference between the two?
If I didnt have Zeta already I would consider just buying the FT... but for a cool grand, I have other things I could buy and be plenty satisfied with my Zeta.
Over $1000 and a ton Pictures of Broken Fan toys Aerialbots say something about the quality of Fanstoys now a days !! I think im going to stay with the metallic version from Zeta
You said the Fans Toys combined was $1,050, but it’s actually $1,310! Basically 3 times more than the Zeta! I have Zeta in combined mode and I think it looks fine. Waiting on Jester. I think Ethereaon will look more premium combined than Zeta, but I plan to keep Zeta combined and Fans Toys will probably hang out in vehicle mode on the flight stands.
The FT doesn't do enough for me to have them combined. My zeta will remain in combined formed and the ft does an awesome job with individual bots so i will display them that way
@@TMReviews I'm saying that you were definitely more objective about how you made your choice. 73% in favor of the FansToys version is pretty significant just based on the combined mode or were they factoring in the other modes? It just seems like these members have a bias for FansToys so it seems irrelevant to mention the member results. I do like their stuff, I just don't think the much higher price is justified. And I do have about 15 FansToys MPs that I got well below the retail cost.
I'm not big into combiners when it comes to toys. Too many shortcuts and compromises taken from the alt and bot modes with each character in the combiner. I kinda wish there were like several different versions of the combiner figures, like 1 that have as accurate an alt mode as possible with the bot mode taking the heap of compromises, 2 with the reverse, 3 with the best they could muster in each mode, a 4th that's made for just bot to combiner mode . . . yeah, things are getting out of hand with this (not to mention the price and the narrowing target audience), but damn, I just want alt and bot modes.
You should give Zeta 2 point for the price! FT is double the price! This is the most critical reason which one to buy! I have Also the metallic Zeta and its awesome! This is one of my better combiners. Zeta's Bruticus is worse in individual robots.
Sculpt and especially cartoon accuracy definitely goes to the Zeta. It’s the elephant in the room that many don’t want to acknowledge. Gotta justify that $1050 somehow I guess. And this is not even an opinion. Just look at the animation model and compare.
I would have stuck with the Zeta version if the individual bots had been retooled to look as toon accurate as the legends versions. As it stands, though, the individual bots are just too far away from the cartoon.
I know it's for securing the arms better and maybe cartoon accuracy but the FT's shoulders....ughh. They stick out like a sore thumb to me.🤔 Maybe if the arms were all the way down. O well, It's just a small detail.
I did not expect FT to go with the light up eyes. That's disappointing. I need that shiny red paint for my combiners' eyes. Worst thing is to see is those dead black eyes, which are essential to covey the character of the piece. Great work on the reviewand comparison, exciting times.
For whatever it’s worth you didn’t have the gun attached to aetheron’s arm during the toon image comparison, which would teeeechnically give Fanstoys a slight lead in that department.
It just comes down to what you want in your collection. Do you want just a Superion that accurate, cheap, and fun? Zeta is perfect for you. But do you want an actual aeriel bot team that looks amazing in all 3 modes, have partsforming pieces that actually turn into something, and are overall better individual products? Go with the FT. I personally dont care for having JUST a combined mode displayed and like cycling between all three modes every few months so ill definitely be going for FT. But Zeta does pack a better punch for the price if you're only going for combined mode.
Apparently in spite of economy, a lot of people can still afford over a thousand dollar toys. Granted, toys used to be 20 now going for 35 on Amazon, and see a lot of people still buying them, we gotta wait till prices of eggs and milk go over 20 to see if people can still afford toys.
Really one sided review and not honest at all. It's like he took the zeta off the shelf and was like "yeah i remember this being well" Instead of messing with the figure before hand. It's also sloppy because in the articulation section you didn't give the edge to the ft's hands or the fact that it has a deeper ab crunch. It's also very very one sided in the fact that "Oh well i just took it out of the box and it was combined so it's better to combine" Like really? Do you not know how to uncombine the figures or atleast look at your old videos and remember? One of the most frustrating reviews i've seen in a long time because i really wanted to know how it ACTUALLY would hold up to zeta and what i got is a person who literally doesn't care
Zeta Toys for the win as I got mine for a measly $275 black Friday sale.

Bro, how's your comment is older than the video?
@@tohneyteoh I'm from the future......lol
I think the video timestamp resets when he changes it from "Members Only"
Great video
If I didnt have Zeta already I would consider just buying the FT... but for a cool grand, I have other things I could buy and be plenty satisfied with my Zeta.
If anything I'll probably get a FT Silverbolt to keep in bot mode. That price for FT is insane so I'm okay with sticking with my Zeta Superion
Both are Super Cool until you factor in Price. FT is just way too much, just for paint, imo. Great VS. ✨️ 😊
I had the total wrong, $1250 vs $400
@@TMReviews 🤒🤣
Very expensive
Thanks for the review, but this time for me painting and toon accuracy are two easy points in favor of fanstoys
Over $1000 and a ton Pictures of Broken Fan toys Aerialbots say something about the quality of Fanstoys now a days !! I think im going to stay with the metallic version from Zeta
I have both. Zeta in combine mode and Fan Toys in robot mode.
The Zeta Toys' hand fingers can also splay out
The cost should have an asterisk because when the bots were initially released they did not cost as much
Zeta for the win. FT is not worth an extra $500
I was mistaken in my math, it's actually 850 more
The FT doesn't do enough for me to have them combined. My zeta will remain in combined formed and the ft does an awesome job with individual bots so i will display them that way
The FT fanboys are always going to prefer FT so any comparison vote will always be in FT's favor. Gotta justify paying a lot more for these figures.
Why is it assumed that only FT fanboys are voting? This is a group of members who have different tastes, I didn't poll a FT group or something
Zeta's fingers should splay out, TW Constructors do and they are pretty much the same hand design.
You should give Zeta 2 point for the price! FT is double the price! This is the most critical reason which one to buy! I have Also the metallic Zeta and its awesome! This is one of my better combiners. Zeta's Bruticus is worse in individual robots.
I only zeta individuals bots where geared more towards the cartoon, they would have knocked it out the park.
FT for me as money not a problem...just gotta bust out more OT😂🤣😅
The only right move is Zeta for combined and FT for individual bots.
Both looks good. Not much different besides the chest!
If you have zero intention of ever displaying them in individual modes, get the Zeta. If you want more than Superion, FT kills Zeta there.
I think FansToys is really nice but Zeta looks better.
With out my glasses they look exactly the same
Im not a fanboy, but fanstoys should have won finger articulation given the extra thumb joint and the finger splay... that makes articulation a draw.
Zeta can splash the fingers also, and they both have thumb articulation. Fanstoys just made the thumb area look better.
Rempel Mission
I know it's for securing the arms better and maybe cartoon accuracy but the FT's shoulders....ughh. They stick out like a sore thumb to me.🤔 Maybe if the arms were all the way down. O well, It's just a small detail.
I did not expect FT to go with the light up eyes. That's disappointing. I need that shiny red paint for my combiners' eyes. Worst thing is to see is those dead black eyes, which are essential to covey the character of the piece. Great work on the reviewand comparison, exciting times.
Huh?? What do you mean?? Don't both of the FT heads have fully painted eyes, the LED only makes it shine brighter?
True fanstoys has both painted and light up eyes. Same as the metallic version of zeta
The eyes are fully painted
Okay thank god
For whatever it’s worth you didn’t have the gun attached to aetheron’s arm during the toon image comparison, which would teeeechnically give Fanstoys a slight lead in that department.
Fanstoys is pricing me out of the. Game. Superion wasn’t a must have for me
FansToys coming in with that 🤡 price.
Ft is overrated and it took 5 years just to finish 1 robot and Zeta knocked out a whole combiner in less time and cheaper!!!
Apparently in spite of economy, a lot of people can still afford over a thousand dollar toys. Granted, toys used to be 20 now going for 35 on Amazon, and see a lot of people still buying them, we gotta wait till prices of eggs and milk go over 20 to see if people can still afford toys.
Man, you came to a toy review just to point that out ?? We been known and also budget for these things, so idk dawg
