I live in Memphis and attend grizzlies games all the time. This franchise literally lets anyone have a jersey retirement. If you caught an assist from Mike Conley between 2008-2016, you have a good shot of being honored at halftime one day here.
In my personal opinion, Grizzlies and any other franchise that hasn't even started up a championship history don't belong in this conversation.
This should only be a complaint to franchises that have built a standard.

Iggy winning that Finals MVP wasnt an indictment on Steph, it was an indictment on the people who vote for and award that reward because honestly, WTF were they thinking? Felt to me like they just didn't like Steph.
Steph didn't deserve that regular season MVP. Being a shotchucker who relies on foulbaiting and dumbass refs, while being a defensive liability who couldn't guard ME, while also not being his team's rea point guard (the guy who played power forward for them is their real pointguard) doesn't scream MVP to me or millions of us who didn't buy into the media's Steph narrative.
Of course the media is stupid and reactionary and was fatigued by the ACTUAL best player in the league.
Steph was also horrible in the clutch during the finals, and got a lot of empty calories raising his scoring averages when the game was already decided... he was absolutely trash and a liability when he was needed for scoring which is the one thing he was good at ...
Iggy at the 3/4 was basically Scottie Pippen in '91 vs the Lakers in the Finals, and afterwards vs the Suns. Secondary and sometimes primary offensive creation as a wing, transition and inside scoring, and one of the two defensive anchors.
Steph could be 7'3 instead of 6'3 and he still couldn't and wouldn't do those things.
It’s because the voters DESPERATELY wanted to give it to LeBron & through the first three games it looked like he & the Cavs were going to win the series. Steph was only good in game 1 and was terrible in games 2 & 3.
Then Steph flipped the switch in games 4, 5, & 6. Iggy did play well in the Finals, particularly in those same games as well. However, Steph was CLEARLY the catalyst to the Warriors winning, but the heavily biased pro-LeBron media wanted James to win. LeBron shot terribly in near all the games regardless of his primary defender. Iggy simply defended him the best, but that was their reasoning. I remember them asking if LeBron should be the first player since Jerry West to win FMVP despite losing the series.
Curry was playing like thrash while being guarded by Matthew dellavedova in that finals. So he made himself look bad .

I kind of agree with Rob here. When I think of #3, that's Allen Iverson. #23 is Jordan. #8 and #24 is Kobe. #30 is Steph. #11 is Klay. #34 is Shaq. I love Andre Igoudala and dont really have a problem with him being recognized in some significant way but I dont feel like he was so iconic that his name is synonymous with his number. That would kind of be my criteria as far as the jersey thing goes but to the other guy's point, its not really that big of a deal in the way its actually being used and since we're not out here trying to fix how the Hall of Fame or even MVP awards work I'm not going to get worked up about a local thing like this. The reality is, Steph Curry got robbed and disrespected in the voting. That's because the storyline of Lebron's dominance and how it was affecting the series (even without his two best players) made people give Iguodala too much credit in helping slow him down.
Yes, Curry didn't play up to his standard but that is because the defense was keyed in on him as the best player but he's the one that draws all the attention to allow everyone else to do their job. He is the player whose skills and abilities the franchise built a contending team around...not Andre Iguodala. Some good defense and a few 3's is NOT a Finals MVP performance!!!
In reality, it should've gone to Lebron James in a losing effort in my opinion--that's how great he played in that series. This happened in the past when Jerry West won the FMVP in a losing effort because he played so spectacularly. Alas, the judges showed no spine and voted for Iguodala because he was on the winning team and helped slow down the most dangerous player on the other team...terrible.
That is not how you should pick the Finals MVP and that award that year is a sham in my mind forever.

The furthest Vince went in the playoffs with the Nets was the 2nd round. WTH is Rob Parker talking about. Iguodala is well deserving of a Jersey retirement by the Warriors.
