Thanks Mike, I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed the show. I didn't expect to catch a fish that large and it was a very welcome way to cap my trip. Cheers, Phil
Great to see the excitement of this seasoned TEAM. If we could convince folks to CPR (catch-photo- release) and pack out their trash- we can better ensure this legacy for the future. I live one the lake- come for coffee next time.
So amazing. I can’t wait to go there next summer, I just got my license but sadly it’s winter. Every video watch of this place makes me want to go more and more
Dr. Phil will diagnose those lakes like a talk show host he's a beast on the still water. Watch Brian Chan and big man Phil if you want to paint a memory on a warm water canvas.
Thanks Tom, glad you enjoyed the show. Henry's Lake is one of my favorite lakes in Western North America. Can't wait to go back once things settle down. Hopefully this September. Cheers, Phil
Daniel, thanks for input on fly patterns. We strongly recommend you check out Phil's UA-cam Channel which features lots of great patterns for lake fishing: ua-cam.com/users/FlyCraftAngling
Thanks Ed, glad you enjoyed the show. It was a very pleasant and surprising way to end the show. Usually when I film the big fish shy away. :) Cheers, Phil
I am a new fly fisher and like only an hour from Henry's lake, I only have floating line at the moment, how long should my leader and tippet be for using leeches here on opening weekend?
Floating line will work but you will need an indicator to use with the leech and probably a leader of 10-15 feet. If you stop in the Drift Lodge Fly Shop they can help get you set up right. Have fun!
Hi Johnny, I believe the hybrids as with the cutthroat are stocked. I believe the brookies are reproducing naturally. While we were filming they stocked over 50,000 cutts and hybrids. Cheers, Phil
So is handling the fish i.e. holding them with dry hands (that removes slime) out of the water and squeezing them bad for the fish or not. I’ve always been taught this is the case.
Dude, if you are a guide, everything I research 15 breath counts out of the water for the fish before Gil destruction starts...So please, you did over, way over, please be cognoscente.
Your videos are always very informative...Great job guys!
Love yalls videos, tons of helpful info for future fishing trip. Thank you
Glad you like them!
Good to see Bill. Tough to talk fishing at Henrys without BS
That last fish is everyone’s dream fish. Great video learned a lot. Thank You

I suck at fly fishing though do just worms and power bait work lol
@@idahoadventuresss3710 If you want to kill and eat a few, sure that's a good way. It's more fun with spoons and lures. Fly fishing is even more fun.
Bill Schiess is a legend and an even better person.

Phil your the stillwater MAN! Just picked up some of your flies at The Slide Inn, picking up alot of fish with them on Hebgen the last week!
Who is Henry and why are his lake trout tactics so good?
Couldn’t help but notice in the promo it said Brooke trout looked a lot like a Laker to me
Henry's is not a person it's a lake
@@zachhawkes1774 the person who discovered the lake was Henry
@@stevenmagno9475 No lakers in Henry's Lake, thankfully. The brookies are pretty silver sometimes.
Great show would love to see more fly patterns

Nice video Guys 👍 🎣🎣
Great ending!! Nice job everybody..

What fly pattern were you using on the sinking line @ 10:23-10:28 thanks phil!
Late October is my favorite time of the year to fish still water in the Western US.
Thanks, one of mine too. I also like the spring months as there is lots of hatch activity to keep me busy.
Cheers, Phil
On the bucket list now 👍
Couldn't help but notice how many people were fishing there. Wow.
Yes was busy when they were there but not always that many boats, but still great fishing no matter what
Lots of people but there's plenty of room for everyone. Way better than the Henry's Fork. Super crowded with all of the drift boats.
Cool place. I’ve fished it, and I’ve also watched deer and coyotes run across the middle of it when locked in ice
Can you hybrid a cross between a cutthroat and a Florida gator just to make the " fight " that much more interesting ?
A bit of sunblock wouldn't go astray by the looks of things.

@@newflyfisher thank you, I'll make sure to stop by.
Lovely ❤️
It seems like the trout are the breeding in the lake or is it fed by a river or stream
Are the hybrids naturally occurring and fertile, or hatchery raised?
This explains it better than I can. idfg.idaho.gov/visit/hatchery/henrys-lake

🔥
You don’t know about the secret spot there
You sure keep them out of the water a long time. Start holding your breath until you put it back the water.
How about you not hold a large fish that you have fought out of the water for longer than 5 seconds!

Waaaay to many commercials. Not for me. I'm out
$1000s in Fly Gear to get outfished on that lake by a $40 Daiwa Spinnmatic and a crappie jig.
