- Almost There! Watch Full Custom Ian Roussel Fabricate The Bumper For Cj-2a Willy's - Part 7 🪖
We are back after Spring Break! We hope everyone has enjoyed a little break.
Ian considers options for supporting a bike on the rear bumper, while also accommodating a trailer hitch and possibly cup holders?? 😂
The Backstory of Jamie's Jeep....
Jamie has wished and WISHED for a Willy's Jeep for her Christmas and Birthday present 🎁 . Ian has had a beautiful Willys 1946 CJ-2a Jeep in the back sitting on a Willys M38A1 Chassis for the past few years. Ever since Ian and Jamie were married, Jamie has been eyeing it for a build on Full Custom Garage, sadly the project didn't make it to the show, but now she gets her wish! Jamie is learning about the history of these jeeps and is learning a little wrenching from Ian. The desert is a great place to go "jeepin" and Jamie wants to be part of the club in the warmer months and feel the wind in her hair as she drives to the local market. Jamie is down to get her hands dirty in the garage on this one! We appreciate our amazing support system in the desert with helping us procure the parts needed for this fun build!

We are back from Spring Break! Happy Easter to those that observe and celebrate! The spring flowers are getting ready to pop and Ian has been getting into high gear with getting this Jeep up and running. The transmission is currently in a rebuild phase at Tehachapi Transmissions. Ian honed the cylinders and cleaned and sealed the entire engine. Fingers crossed Jamie's Jeep gets to see the sand soon! We appreciate all of you! 👽Welcome Back Kids 👽
Did you tell the misses how good you looked wearing her fur coat?
Coming along great, happy Easter guys.
Just noticed there is a rare 1936 Lincoln-Zephyr V12 “Twin-Grille” that was made. Looks just like yours but has two grilles side side. 4 door very rare.
Bumperettes where for spacing during transport as well as protecting lift point brackets. Original hitch was a pintle hitch bolted to the support you shortened for bumper. All military trailers were loop hitches then. Keep up the awesome work, you are truly inspiring.
Thanks for that pearl. Old Land Cruisers had them too, but I wonder if it wasn't mimicry based on how practical it is.
You are breathing fresh life in an old Jeep that needs it. Nay Sayers should appreciate that. It will look good when you are done
Thanks Ian and Jamie I’ve been watching for years I know it was when you first got Dude maybe before even but I’ve enjoyed and have learned and been inspired as a 68 year old student, keep the videos coming I look forward to them myself, praying y’all reach the 100,000 and beyond that
Thank you for that 🙏♥️…We miss our Dude
looking better all the time
It's your Jeep and you can do what you want..... :) absolutely.
Looks like it was meant to be!
Happy Easter kids!
Yeah Jamie, you go girl. I love it
I learned to drive in a jeep just like the one you are working on 70 years ago while working on a ranch in California. I still own a newer jeep and still enjoy wrenching on it regularly. Keep up the good work! Very much enjoy your channel and have been following your escapades for some time.👍👍👍👍🤟
Thanks for sharing!
Awesome Bumper for the lil jeep
You’re building a bumper…
Jamie has background music…
BUMPER MUSIC 😍😍
Happy Easter
I believe that piece in the back where the trailer hitch was attached would have been where the carrier bearing for the rear PTO shaft would have been bolted. Lots of farmers bought those jeeps for use around the farm, and rear PTO’s and three point hitches were common options in that time. They commonly used these in place of tractors, as you could often buy these cheaper than you could an actual farm tractor.
More Jeep please !
I am a Willis owner. Thanks for saving this Jeep! Do what you like with it. Fix it
Drive it enjoy it.
Looks good Ian and Jamie
Thanks for sharing 😀👍
Great use of that I-beam for the bumpers. Reuse, repurpose and recycle stuff when you can as it is free. I guess that is the cheepy Charlie in me coming out.
Absolutely love the spinning of the plates. Several projects that have totally different designs and going in different directions. Love them all. Thank you both for keeping all of us sane with positive vibes and entertainment. Best wishes for your channel.
Thank you!
My first vehicle was a 61 Jeep high and low range. That’s how I learned to drive a standard low range you couldn’t kill that thing it would pop wheelies pulling out stumps absolutely loved it however I destroyed it when it went to the junkyard it was nothing more Than the drivetrain the body was rotted off banged up. However, it did run.
Love that bumper looks AWESOME 👌 👏 👍 with those rounded corners in notch for hitch ball. As always great 👍 job.
Like the look of the bumper
maybe weld on a couple of trailer chain holder tabs on the bottom of the bumper? Definitely very utilitarian.
What's better than a Jeep in the desert?
Jamies's Jeep in the desert.
Even better - Jamies's Jeep in the desert with Jamie drivin'...
Nice video - THANKS
Couldn't agree more!
I love the cup holders in the rear bar.
oh yeah, keep the good work mate.
Consider welding a 2" receiver sleeve in place of the ball. Then you can use a normal trailer ball, or a shackle mount. Or even put one of them cargo carriers on the rear.
I liked it vertical
Lights in the holes
Long ago my Jeep had a ball hitch on the front & rear & I made up an electric winch to a female trailer tongue coupler..
Wow, those eyemuffs really work. When you had them on I could barely hear the grinder.
Ha very smart Brian like it
Ian the bumper will look better if you would turn it over with the narrow sides of the angle cut to the bottom. The way you are mounting it it going to interfere with your ground clearance. You can run a trailer hitch in the original spot. And if you turn it up on its side you will still have nice step to get into the back.
I thought you were going to mouth that l-beam bumper the other way , l thought the holes were for tail lights 🤔.... but hey they make handy cup holders 😂😂😂 great job 👍
I love Jamie’s attitude. “It’s her frickin Jeep” man. In regard to your subscribers and base on what I have seen so far, it will grow quickly. Without a doubt. Ian is well like in the industry and his humbleness is imaginable. Just like when I finally found him again I was one very happy camper. Just like what he said about the bumper cup holders. Hi Jamie 😊
Happy Easter to all over the Map
Happy Easter guys!
Egg-ceptional video brought to us by a couple of good eggs! Happy Easter!
Make the hole holders for round rubbery foot pads to step up on.
Jamie sounds like every costumer “ all we need is the motor & transmission it will run ? So about 2 days it’ll be done “.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I’m kidding love you both really enjoy watching !!! 👍
looking cool ! Very satisfying episode!!
Happy Easter
Excellent guys cheers 🥂 😊
Looks great !! 🎉🎉🎉
I knew Jamie was responsible for the music! I watched you and your multiple shows for quite some time now. Adding that I love all of them. Also when I hear desert music….🎼……
Happy Easter! Very simple, practical, & functional!! Nice! I really like these old flat fendered Jeeps! A classic!
Happy Easter to all.
Thanks, I-beam bumper turned into functional art.
Looks good certainly should tow what you need, thanks for sharing, all the best to yous and your loved ones
It's your Jeep, make it like you want it. It's made out of all sorts of bits anyway, but still looks like a Jeep.
Happy Easter. Nice bumper. Thanks for sharing with us.
That Willys is going to be great no matter how you cut it, as long as Jaimie agrees lol.
I love you guys. I love Jamies Jeep.
Ian I can't help myself I have to comment, one of my mates just cut his thumb and pinky off cutting aluminium with an angle grinder ( 1mm slitting blade) while holding it in his hand when it grabbed, they were able to reattach his thumb. I know you were born with angle grinders much like Edward scissor hands, but please remember it is easy to have a fatigue brain fade and become complacent. When I watch you I can see you using excellent technique with out of the line of fire position, but its that grab that gets you.( I just cut thru my glove and knocked my knuckle) We must please remember to keep our awareness lever on the highest setting. A cup of tea works great in between sessions for alertness.
In the groove of life it's so sweet
Wow, nice on the rear bumper Ian! 👍😎
You’re already somebody!
Great community you live in..the jeep will be together soon
I think jeeps came with a pintal hook - are considered 1/4 tons also.
Agreed the bumper is not too straight - have fun
Thanks!
Thank you!
Hope you both had a relaxing and enjoyable spring break
Happy Easter to you and Jamie.
Nice work on the bumper
In the UK we rarely get to see a Willys. Occasionally at a car meet one will turn up, usually in full US Military spec, Jerry cans, spades and decommissioned machine gun mounted on top. If I had one it would be stripped bare and It would be driven within an inch of its life. Keep up the great work, I am recommending you over here.
🙏
Goodyear rolling gathers no moss
Like the right angle approach
Coming right along. Happy Easter Youngens.
100 000 subscribers and Im somebody 😂😂 Dude you are the man..
A long ago friend bought a new '69 CJ5, that came stock with an I Beam front bumper. The I was mounted vertical, not flat like you just did. We used to joke that if anyone hit him at a glancing blow on the front bumper, it would open up the side of their car like a can opener.
Don't forget when you build the front bumper to make sure that you can mount a ball on the front end... it will be sooooo useful for moving things around.
Have a great day
end results look great!
One handed wheel of death?😱😳 you are OG for sure!👍👍 i have a scar on my shin from a knee knocker on a sub…..its still there from the 70’s😁
Had a friend who split his shin on a trailer hitch. It was contaminated with flesh eating bacteria. They kept lopping of parts of his leg, but to no avail. He ended up passing away.
Nailed it Ian
Jaimee Hello, your right it's your jeep, but the master(artiste') just made an awesome bumper. Can't wait to see the front one. G'day Ian, Wow man this thing is kickin'. Come on folks join the club 100k, yey!! Awesome vid, I wanna see thing drive, Cheers Brilliant!!!
I'm from Australia and enjoy watching your clips, were slowly building a 54 Humber rat rod and love your no fuss builds.
Love watching you guys. Here is something you might get a kick out of.A 1947 Willys for sale at Hyman Ltd.Stay safe.Lee on Socal
Bumper looks great. More holes/cupholders would be cool and will not affect towing strength much - the material between the holes form a very strong truss with the rest of the I beam...
We need some " I like It " shirts
Hey yous 2, loving the show as always. I'm no YTer and you've probably already thought of it, but if you do some collaborations with some of your YT buddy's channels you may get more subscribers.
Suggestion purely for selfish reasons as I don't want to lose you guys ❤❤❤
Love it! Good stuff!
They always say comment as well so I comment because I sure do like your show and your work very entertaining
I love it. I'm not a big jeep fan or purist of any kind but the first time I went off road was in my dad's 1956 Jeep CJ5. When he said he was needing to sell it I jumped all over the opportunity and bought it from him. I have ideas and plans for it and want to go big. I think you should be able to do whatever you want to your jeep and who cares what anyone else thinks. I told a TV personality what I wanted to do to my jeep and he basically told me that was the dumbest thing he ever heard. I now am on a mission to build it. I want to cut and stretch it and put it on a blazer frame and 4wheel the hell out of it. Good luck with your wife's jeep Ian. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
Inside the bumper loops would be additional loops for towing - notice the bracket has a pin hole on each side. I like the I beam idea if you’r plan is to not mimic stock.
Happy Easter, so glad your'e so close to 100,000 subscribers , you have a great channel
Awesome
I seen it on instagram with some hippy bicycle on the back, you're killing me 🤣
As long as Jamie likes it 😉
Its Jamie's Jeep and she can do what she wants.
If it was me, id keep to the original concept but make it mine. Like front and rear receivers and a winch that could be switched to either end.
Its Jamie's Jeep and in better hands
The auto gods are doing back flips Ian used a tape measure THREE TIMES IN ONE YEAR!!!
Bumper with cupholders that’s a new one🙂
Hello Ian and Jamie how are my two favorite desert rats today? I think the Jeep is really cool I love what you've done to it so far and I also enjoy all of your videos and Jamie's doing an excellent job at editing and posting keep up the good work can't wait to see the next one. If I could subscribe again I would.
Great show..
Happy Easter.
Great job!
Love the bumper
Right on Jamie. You gotta like your ride and disregard the naysayers. The little CJ is gonna be cool. Now you have to sell the dune buggy to me.👍😊
Never!!! Persephone is my lady! And she runs and drives like a champ 💛🌼💛😂😎🙏~ Jamie
@@fullcustomIan Pffftttt, Persephone can't climb Canyons 😜
Never use a ball for a pull point for pulling out a stuck vehicle, they have been know to break and can cause injury or death. Be Safe. Great content here.
Yes, i've seen the results, it sheared off and took the young guy getting towed outs life, it took half his head off and was wedged in the seat.
I want to take a Willy’s set it on its face with a t-5 and a flathead V-8. Man those things are so freaking cool
Hope you both had a happy easter and the easter bunny was kind to you,i agree with jamie its her jeep and its how she wants it ,who cares what the frigging purists think they are not the ones driving it ,jamie you go girl
Looks cool ! 😎
Hey man love your show a style we live in Victoria Australia keep going
