Highway 1 Seattle to San Diego

The road along the US West Coast from Seattle to San Diego is a breathtaking route that delights travelers with its beauty and diversity. Likewise, in Northern California you drive through the famous Humboldt Redwoods State Park with its majestic redwood forests.
At Leggett, California, turn off US 101 onto California State Route 1, also known as CA 1. From here, the breathtaking coastal road along the Pacific coast goes by various names such as Highway 1, Route 1, Shoreline Highway, Cabrillo Highway or Pacific Coast Highway. The road winds along the rugged coastline, offering breathtaking views of the turquoise waters and majestic cliffs. You drive over the Golden Gate Bridge to San Francisco and then pass popular travel destinations such as picturesque Monterey and Carmel-by-the-Sea. The winding road through the famous Big Sur takes your breath away with its impressive coastal landscapes and endless views of the Pacific Ocean.
Before Los Angeles you can visit the endless beaches of Santa Barbara, Malibu and Santa Monica and take a detour to the famous Santa Monica Pier. At Dana Point south of Los Angeles, Highway 1 ends under the nickname Pacific Coast Highway and the rest of the route leads via small coastal roads parallel to Interstate 5 to San Diego, a lively city with a rich history and a relaxed atmosphere.
