Favorite Gowron meme is the photoshop gowron/mr. Roger's "glory to you and your neighborhood."
a classic 🙂
I'm very distracted by the giant cat blocking Brent's face...cant stop laughing every time it happens
TNG O'Brien and Transporter Console with Thomas Riker! Oh, and Flute Picard.
o snap, o'brien for sure!!!
I paint Thousand Sons and I don’t think they’d appreciate the wolf bristles. Something to consider 😂
this is an important point! 🙂
We've got bees and we're goin' on a crusade! Vote up!
thank you for joining the bee crusade :-)
Wolf 359 is owned and run by the Hutton Orbital Truckers, For The Mug!
I hear vinegar is the preferred choice for freshing up stinky boxes...
Here is a tip for you: Try the new Raphael 8344 series of synthetic kolinsky sable imitation brushes. My usual go to is the 8404 Kolinsky sable brush from Raphael and I must say, that the feel of the 8344 is pretty darn close to the 8404. Been painting with a size 1 and 2 now for 2 months and they still go strong, still hold a nice tip. They also have the same belly reservoir as the 8404. Not sure, if they are as long lived as the 8404, but then again, they are more than 50% less expensive than the 8404s... And no weasels are being shaved for their production.
My favorite podcast knows how to make any Monday better
Hi casey (sorry if spelt wrong, never had to spell that name before) and Brent. Lt Barclay was played by Dwight Schultz, who played Howling Mad Murdock in the original A-team series. Which to me made sense as both weird characters
Highly appreciated Brent standing up for sustainability and minimizing the amount of waste we create. I sometimes hear the argument "you can throw them away after one use, because they are cheap anyway" and I don't feel that is the right way to go.
I'm leaning toward the plastic of the container itself. I used to work in a large office supply store that carried a myriad of plastic lidded boxes similar to what you have there. Some had some weird odors for sure. One type had what I could only describe as a hint of vanilla whereas another had a skunky, almost weed-like smell. They were all fairly faint until you were on top of them, so I don't believe they were pervasive or the like. I wonder if maybe it's some sort of reaction the plastic is having over time or to certain exposures. UV perhaps?
this is probably correct... actually... I might have previously used this plastic box to store aquarium rocks... uhhhh yeah that's probably it hahahahah. I definitely cleaned it, but I guess those smells burrow in deep!
The categories on Twitch are taken from the Giant Bomb wiki, they don't create categories for random tiny games nobody is watching manually, it's all automated. It's only the stuff that's not games that has to be created manually and has to go through a process of internal approval because the changes can have an impact on many streamers (and not always a positive one) as well as Twitch probably being worried about setting a precedent for manually managing a bunch of very specific categories for all kinds of internet niches. There isn't any random guy who can "just do it". A petition really is the best way to get across that there are enough people who think this is a worthwhile thing that would be helpful to have, but even that is likely to take a while even if it succeeds.
Interesting! And yes, this makes sense. In my opinion, having the "new category committee" at twitch meet more often would lead to a drastic improvement in the platform... there are a bunch of IRL categories that are conspicuously missing that folks have been asking for for many years... I at least wanna try to do our part by asking for a miniatures category as loudly as we can! 🙂
@@GoobertownHobbiesYeah, I agree that Twitch should reconsider either how categories work and how many they have, or de-prioritise them in the discovery process. Unfortunately the fight for a mini painting category is an uphill one because Twitch doesn't want to "open the flood gates" and suddenly have to face questions about why there's no woodworking or custom mechanical keyboard building categories. I really hope your effort helps push them towards something more helpful and honestly confusing than what we have right now.
we'll try! IMO those committees should lock themselves in a room for a week, order lots of takeout food, and approve miniatures, gunpla, woodworking, mechanical keyboards, lego, creative writing, study time, knitting, weaving, etc. etc. @@danieljennagrouse
Mat having fun animating to the intro music again XD
Thanks Brent BTW ... I just bought the Federation / Borg set as well as the Klingon expansion 🤣🤣🤣
I need to see those Star Trek minis painted up
me too 🙂
Building that brushtesting machine , would be a great video , as itself :D
we have the technology, we can build it!... probably! 🙂
Looking forward to the expansion pack that contains a wailing Sisko with a support strut as part of the Federation pack.
As someone whom recently rewatched the whole ds9 series. I can confirm he was there. I guess you'd put him in a "losers of the battle" expansion.
Sisko WAS at wolf 359... gotta rescue his escape pod!
Don’t forget to decorate the tree for Orktober!
Based on information from the Painting Phase podcast interview with the ex-branding guy from GW, Games workshop uses the same brush making workshop as windsor & newton for their nice brushes. So theoretically they are just as good as W&N brushes but just cost more from branding.
this makes sense- I noticed the artificer came in the exact same plastic tube as the winsor&newton 🙂
You could always just build a “3d printer “ to automate the brush motions. Instead of a hot end just build a brush holder.
this has crossed my mind, but I don't quite have the skillset to pull it off.... yet... 🙂
@@GoobertownHobbies well next time you’re back in Oklahoma I’ll donate my broken fdm printer as tribute. For science!
Also, I believe in you. For brush testing a single linear screw with end stops that just drug brushes back and forth could be fairly simple.
Time is the wrong unit of measure. Models. Here is the brush after 5 dark eldar. Here's the brush after painting 10 dark eldar. And talk to the Reaper folks about Twitch. They host multiple mini painting streams on their twitch channel.
Brent realising he might be able to buy Lego as a business expense was great, even if he went to child labour first :)
so many viable options!! 🙂
You correctly quoted the Wolf 359 part, however the plural for Borg is still Borg. Had to do it Brent 😅But to be fair, you're guys knowledge of TNG is pretty impressive.
Wolf Brushes! Made from Wolves for the real alpha male, to paint your small plastic toys with!
I will look into this hobby product for alphas! 🙂
"Wolf" hair brushes are actually weasel hair, its a translation issue with the Chinese character for wolf and weasel being the same. Weasel hair is inferior to decent sable hair, but they do fine for ink calligraphy and painting. Unfortunately there is not any businesses of people trimming wolves winter coats for these brushes, that'd be super badass though
Let's GO!
Transporter any different from going to sleep and waking up in the morning? Any different from one second passing to a next? I don't have answers (plenty of thinkers all over the world have considered personal identity) but makes one think...
I'd find it hard to believe mica would scratch or cut the bristles since it's such a soft rock. Fingernails scratch it when its on the flat, and decently hard but still pretty soft when it's across the cleavage. But it can be annoying to get out of things.
right? It seems like something worth testing. Maybe this is just a "glitter quarantine" kind of situation... 🙂
Accidentally trapped a Kobald in Brents bits box?
they're smelly little buggers
I just wish they hadn't gone for the bobblehead look for the Star Trek minis.
if there's an odor just try a deodorizer like those baking soda fridge boxes or carbon packs.
I guess Shelby Riker Data and Jordie.
You know what, I'm mad that I got Worf/Jordie wrong. The game is called "away missions" and the 4 members of the away mission in that episode were Shelby, Riker, Data and Worf. Nerd fail.
Obviously to recover some nerd points, if Shelby is being brought in to take the position of First Officer, and Riker is up for the chair, then you wouldn't want your 1IC and 2IC on the same away mission, too risky. But you know, television, it's fine.
Brent, did you happen to put your fishing lure marine models in that storage container? Just asking...
It's very telling just what a poor state the mini-painting and wargaming hobbies are in when Twitch has a Warhammer tag for years before there's a "mini painting" one. Games Workshop have done so much damage by making everyone believe they are the entire hobby, or for many that they are the default in the hobby.
Very much interested in wether or not the metallic paints are bad for your brushes because the flakes somehow cut into the hairs or something. Never noticed anything while painting, but maybe your microscope can shed some light.
I know that this podcast is a positive part of the internet, but would you consider to address the rivenstone/ broken Anvil fiasco? You talked about WOTC's bullshit. Maybe we can talk about small company bullshit, too.
I imagine we will at some point
I will never buy into star trek if there isn't a Riker holding a trombone mini
Denise Crosby (Tasha) was gone over a controversy after she appeared nude in playboy 😂😂 I still have that issue somewhere 😅😅😅😅😅
live and learn!
Not so. She left on her own and made appearances in later episodes. She actually regretted leaving, but it had nothing to do with her Playboy pictorials. ua-cam.com/video/bwZpXN81lj4/v-deo.htmlsi=OAhTv6SQ59CBwU4V
