I'm a guitar hobbyist, exclusively playing with the minor pentatonic scale. Can anyone clue me into some of the music theory here? Modes/scales? Nothing detailed, just looking for direction on how to write music like this without having to reinvent the wheel.
More than scales, study harmony (functional, not functional, modulation, etc) and metrics! Jazz uses a lot of "color" in their solos and melodies, maybe you could check that too.
