Come on this film introduced War Machine, talked a lot about Stark's alcoholism, dealt with the fact that he wasn't able to save himself this time despite being essentially the smartest man alive, and dealing with more personal issues such as his problems with his father and trying to find a real love before he goes. Plot wasn't the best, but it was definitely a fun ride, especially the fight between Rhodes and Stark and then their team-up. plus the introduction of Black Widow was awesome! The government wanting his suit makes sense because its showing the repercussions of revealing your superhero identity. Him giving the company to pepper and being drunk was because he was dying and wanted to do as much as he could before he died, he could have stopped Rhodey from getting away but he let him go because he trusts him with his tech.
+Bryan Leong I always felt like those things were obvious but i guess not for some people haha also, the Gov wanting his suit had little to do with him being a hero, that was just typical Gov entities trying to get their hands on something that would give them more power than everybody else.
In regards to Rhodey, I think Honest Trailers was referring to how he knew how to fly and shoot repulsors, after Tony spent the first movie smacking into walls and being extinguished by his robots. Also if Rhodey hadn't had the exact same body shape as Tony, the armor would have snapped his limbs the first time he flexed, because his joints wouldn't have been in the same position as the armors. Unless Tony had already made the suit able to adapt for multiple users.
@mca mac: Not multiple users, but Tony apparently let Rhodey fly off with the suit on purpose. If that's the case then it stands to reason that that suit was meant to be given to Rhodey in the first place, with joints matching to his build.
i agree with ya it's not as good as the first. I think people hate on this one because of the villain - whiplash. He never posed a threat to tony at all and he was just meh. But I really enjoyed this movie, War Machine was cool and Sam Rockwell too, i love him in every movie.

Just to let people know around here about the element which tony creates with help of his father's design is totally logical because after Captain America get's frozen and when Sr. Stark searches for him he finds Tesseract and then he has spend his a lot of amount of time to study Tesseract. Then he somehow implement the atomic structure of the Tesseract on that Estate design he gives to Tony as "Key to the future". That element which Tony creates is actually the same element by which Tesseract is created and this is also why in Avengers when Loki tries to control the mind of Tony by his scepter it simply doesn't work. However this honest trailer forgot to mention that Tony stark not only whips up a particle accelerator using only parts he had lying around his house, by himself and creates a new element all within the space of an afternoon. Timeyin Sholaye It is indeed true that iron man as franchise takes a very liberal slant on science. And generally that doesn't detract from the fun for me. However in Iron Man 2 it just seemed to happen a little too easily for me. Perhaps if he broke into a facility that already had a particle accelerator set up and had access to data that was way beyond the reach of regular scientists, something more than a clue gleamed from his papa's design of the stark expo layout. From what I can gather the story writers want to hint that the structure of that new element is related to the tesseract from capt'n america and it would be a cool cross over strand but somehow they way they executed left me unsatisfied.
Timeyin Sholaye Don't make it sound like he turned dust into body armor. He was supposed to be building weapons, which means he had the tools to build the suit. The only thing that Stark did that was unbelievable, was build a source of clean energy and then compress it to the size of a soda can.

From all of these honest trailers here I've only watched like 2 of the movies they're parodying, and still each and everyone of them is hilarious to me!
To the Rhodey being able to fly the suit part: I think that everyone who was enabled by Tony could fly one of the ironman suits no problem, because they have an AI in them who does most of the adjustments. But in Ironman 1 he first had to calibrate everything, which is why he had so many difficulties.
I agree this is not as good as the first Iron Man, but I liked the 3D holograms. I think the only reason that the first one seemed to be so grounded in reality in terms of technology - despite the fact that there's a mobile exosuit, sonic killing device, and an arc reactor - was because The Dark Knight was THE comic book movie that set the bar for all future comic book movies at the time.
Agreed, but what I meant by technology that was grounded in reality was technology that currently exists in the real world, although the exo-suit does technically exist and from what I understand the US military is currently working on a prototype, but the practicality of its miniaturized self-sustaining power source is.
I know, but the Movie Trailer announce guy - forget his name - mentioned how the first one was so grounded in reality and how this movie traded all that in for things like 3D holograms. While I agree with you too, I'm just trying to clarify my point.
My guess is they're saving it for Thor: Ragnarok. They have a trend of doing an Honest Trailer to a related movie around the time a new one is released.
+Aaren J I think Iron Man 2's great and I've watched it many times. iron man 3 does suck though. Incidentally, if you pay attention Whiplash has a crackling electromagnetic field around him (which does for his clothes) and which presumably protects him from being repeatedly hit by the car. Tony immediately creating the element which is supposed to be impossible is obviously intended as a gag. Still enjoyed the Honest Trailer though.
IMortalHHD ALex I liked IM2 too. It had a consistent tone of maroon sadness, and Downey played it very well. Even in this trailer you can see it on his face when he's changing the corroded batteries that are poisoning him. Tony knows he is dying, and it's heartbreaking to watch him struggle with it. Scarlett as Natasha struck a perfect balance of beauty and sadness, and she wasn't even impressed with Tony Stark; she was unobtainable. Casting Garry Shandling was inspired, and he was perfect. Jon Favreau did a lot with the under-developed Happy Hogan. The plot wasn't great, but the mood was very appropriate for the second film of a trilogy. Even his Silver Centurion (suitcase) armor seemed sadder and less jaunty than the red and gold suits. This movie had artistic value, and I'm not sure if I feel that way about IM3.
Ben Culture I don't think IM2 was bad. He was just not as good as the first. I guess it's the same problem for Avengers 2 (not sure, i don't watch it yet).
+SAGE It's like you didn't even read my comment. I wrote a _lot_ about the actors, and a little bit about the look of the film. Of course, it matters for a film to _look_ good, and I think IM2 does. But it's got a lot more going for it than that. Hell, I forgot to even mention Sam Rockwell. He was awesome too, and, once I got used to the actor-switch for Rhodey, Don Cheadle was damn good, too.
+SAGE Well, that's bizarre. Why wouldn't you take a person's word at face value, when they're sharing their opinion on a movie? Visual effects? Aside from the self-assembling suitcase armor, I remember nothing special about the visual effects. They were perfectly adequate, but nothing like "Wow, I can't believe I just saw that", like in the Avengers films. If I was in love with IM2's visual effects, I would have said exactly that.
Thank you for pointing out those stupid holograms, they really got on my nerves throughout the movie. I loved the first movie and how grounded it was. (But I still love the Avengers)
I like this movie, but agreed it's no IM1 or IM3. You got to give some props for that climax w/ Iron Man and War Machine. That almost save the movie by itself.
geo koukkappakeepo I agree. Rankings wise, different from mine, but these are the top four w/ IM being top 5. Sony had the Tobey/Raimi Spider-Man movies thus Spidey 2 not on this list(which is one of the best superhero movies ever).
"The completely disappointing sequel you fooled yourself into liking simply because it had Iron Man in it!" Hey if you put "the Avengers" in that sentence instead of "Iron Man", you have Age of Ultron!
say "I don't know how to train your Dragon. I was just wondering how the same time." I just pressed the middle word on my phone several times to get that sentence!
technology grounded in reality? WHAT?!?! the whole iron man franchises' technobabble is enough to make any person who has ever had I physivs class in school cringe
Well, the "technobabble" yes. However, the technology is pretty darn close to reality. With Exoskeleton (military), jet packs / hovercraft technology (albeit MUCH louder than Iron Man), and military weaponry, Iron Man isn't exactly a farfetched idea. However, logically, Iron Man is so flawed that the time, effort, and money dumped into the suit would be such a waste for many reasons: 1.) Being computer controlled, the suit could easily be hacked/shut down by anyone; 2.) With no stealth properties, it's just a walking/flying billion dollar target practice. 3.) Having this technology back in the 1940s-1970s would have been ingenious (merely for the technology, not for actual use as THE Iron Man) and MAYBE have done some good for the wars, but now it's just useless as a handful of WWII aircraft could destroy it.
bigmattman2005 The suit wouldn't work though, in that the kind of impacts he takes in it wouldn't actually be cushioned by the suit. That's always bothered me.
We must be in the minority. While some of their criticisms are indeed valid - specifically the whole Car Ramming of Whiplash XP - but overall the movie wasn't bad. Better than the first one? Not really. About as good. A lot of people have problems with Iron Man 3 as well, yet I didn't have much of a problem with that movie as well. Again, they had valid criticisms - mostly in the fact how Stark never used all his armors until the VERY end and WHY he blew them up - but even still: That movie wasn't a BAD movie. Best of the Marvel Movies? Hardly. But it isn't even the worse.
Kojin MacJorn you're totally wrong. Iron Man 3 was a BAD movie! I like the line in this Honest Trailer, "Someone gets paid to write this stuff?" Valid nitpicks on Iron Man 2, but I recall it being somewhat entertaining to watch. However, Iron Man 3 was a ridiculous waste of my money and time. It's pretty much the case with all blockbusters now, sigh.
Lets not forget Marvel still has a way better track record than DC when it comes to live action movies. Man of Steel? Batman Forever? Batman and Robin? The old Superman Movies (a lot of people like the first two, but not me)? Green Lantern? Meanwhile Marvel can still be mostly counted on to deliver the goods.
Barry Gormley Marvel only recently got into the big movie business so they don't really have a better track record. DC has been putting out TONS of movies for decades under one license. Not like Fantastic four, spiderman, xmen and everything else under the sun being owned by many different studios. Some are good and hold up, some are dated, some are downright bad, but it's not an abundance of bad by any means. And out of the Marvel movies that have been released the only ones that have gotten critical acclaim were Iron Man 1, The Avengers, and Captain America 2. The others have middle-range ratings because they're alright movies. Not amazing but not absolute shit either. Not saying that DC hasn't been fucking up lately, because they have very badly, but DC has basically been on top for decades. And Marvel has finally pulled ahead in the race (which is exciting and makes for good competition and good movies if DC could get their shit together). Main Point: I trust them to put out serviceable movies, and maybe we'll get an amazing one every once in a while, unlike DC which can range from Dark Knight amazing to Green Lantern bad lately.
I was too young to tell a good movie from a bad movie when I saw this, and I was still bored as hell when I watched this. I didn't like this movie after I left the theatre, even though I really loved the first one.
I actually just finished watching all seasons of game of thrones and so, why did Arya? Aryanna? IDK the younger stark sister, why did she go north? Did she go north, I didn't get that part. and who the fuck is dany? since lord balish married sansa's aunt, wouldn't that make sansa and balish insest?
peoplemcnuggetz Spoilers here for game of thrones season 1-4! don't click 'read more' unless you want to be spoiled! Arya didn't go north, she went to Braavos. She went because that's where her sword teacher was from, and the assassin bloke was from there, too. Dany is Daenerys, the lady with the three dragons. And no, the marriage between Baelish and Sansa's aunt would make Baelish the uncle of Sansa and Arya. It would be incest if Baelish had sex with Sansa, and there may be a good chance of that, since he likes her :/ gross.
Rockwell wasn't poorly utilized, he was brilliantly utilized. He played the Lex Luthor-style brainy, suited villain, a classic traditional villain played to a tee in this movie with brilliantly written and delivered dialogue.
His character was excellent and the portrayal even more so I agree, but I personally would've loved to see more of him going head to head with Tony instead of him using Vanko, except for the scene in court they didn't really interact that much with I think is a mega missed opportunity
B3ansGuy I love his character because its so rare to see a movie where the villain is incompetent. Imo incompetence paired with endless resources, power, and a sour personality can be even more dangerous than a smart villain who can keep control over their plan.
sonicjrjr14 Terrible mandarin. Random suit explosion. He's not Iron Man anymore. Doesn't even makes sense, considering Avengers 2 and 3 are coming out. ALSO: GUY PEARCE IS THE VILLAIN
***** 1 of the main things that makes IM3 better is that it's a 'movie'. Iron Man 2 was a two hour commercial for the Avengers. It's a fun time, dont get me wrong, but outside of Mickey Rourke and the introduction of Black Widow was there anything worthwhile or memorable about that movie? ...I mean, commercial?
Timeyin Sholaye No, Iron Man 3 was excellent. The Mandarin twist was easily the best plot twist of the entire shared universe franchise thus far, and absolutely brilliant.
Dobby - exactly! RDJ/Tony Stark had enough ego going around as it is, and it actually fit his character. Don Cheadle as Rhodey actually balanced him out.

+perfectMustache is so fabulas
the best Black Widow is the one from Winter Soldier dude, plus it think there is not any good scene in the movie
with BEEWBS
Please say: "Put that cookie down!"
Iron Man 2 is great for one reason: Robert Downey Jr.
Without his impeccable comedic timing and wit, this whole series is meh.
RIP Gary Shandling.... :(
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Guys, really; Iron Man 2 isn't THAT bad.
+Aaren J It's far better than Iron Man 3
***** I'm not saying it's great, I'm saying it's decent.
+Aaren J Especially when compared to BvS
***** It was passable at best in my opinion.
"Hawkeye, with beewbs"
"Pepper Potts, an inconsistent nag who's totally cool with her boyfriend being Iron Man but freaks out when he drives a car."
Vinay Shankar Funny but true.
"Robb Stark"....
Too Soon, Screen Junkies...Too Soon. */sniff* The North Remembers -_-
I liked Iron Man 2
IMortalHHD ALex I liked IM2 too.
The L Delivery Man the music was an easy win, so there is that at least
(But I still love the Avengers)
everyone feels exactly like you did
i really love the Starring part of Honest Trailers xD
PLEASE DO ANT-MAN NEXT!!
He can't he needs to wait for the movie to come out on dvd
I like this movie, but agreed it's no IM1 or IM3. You got to give some props for that climax w/ Iron Man and War Machine. That almost save the movie by itself.
iron man 1 is good but these movies i said are like the top 4 for me
and for almost everyone
geo koukkappakeepo I agree. Rankings wise, different from mine, but these are the top four w/ IM being top 5. Sony had the Tobey/Raimi Spider-Man movies thus Spidey 2 not on this list(which is one of the best superhero movies ever).
I didn't think this movie was all that amazing but some of the criticisms here were just nitpicking.
Whiplash? I prefer some guy with a bird...
"Better Terrence Howard!" LMAO
"The completely disappointing sequel you fooled yourself into liking simply because it had Iron Man in it!"
Hey if you put "the Avengers" in that sentence instead of "Iron Man", you have Age of Ultron!
+94dfk1 It's the same with Jurassic Park, honestly...
+Tommy Dee too true
I liked AoU...
+94dfk1 so true
+94dfk1 ultron>og avengers
I don't care what anyone says, I really like this movie.
Oh man, yeah! Do Galaxy Quest!!
It took four years, but you finally got your wish!
@@BrendanJSmith worth the wait!
the disappointment from the third iron man makes this movie look incredible
say "I don't know how to train your Dragon. I was just wondering how the same time." I just pressed the middle word on my phone several times to get that sentence!
How dare you! Sam Rockwell is awesome in everything!
sam rockwell is the beeeest
rob stark!!! love all the subtle references like that!
What the hell was subtle about that?!
"Mrs. Coldplay"😂😂
Maria Geo Yeah.....not anymore
I saw more iron man in this movie than iron man 3
None of your fucking business yeah, according to screen junkies here the main character is regular man.lol.
The Gamer yep
Do a Doctor Who Honest Trailer. because reasons!
+Chino Cocoa A BBC Sherlock one would be awesome too!
hey say "with great responsibility comes... aw shit!!!!!!!!!"
Everyone loved Sam Rockwell in Galaxy Quest!
Jagrfmiirg Gâr-Ganoxïk 'There's a red thingy moving toward the green thingy'.
Sam uh, Rockwell, yeah that's him! The guy with the OSCAR
Friend: "Oh you saw Iron man 2? What was it about?"
Me: "I honestly don't remember."
Oh, yeah...he WAS in Galaxy Quest.
personM4N 'I think we're the green thingy'
“The poor mans joss whedon”
Oh boy that didn’t age well 😂
technology grounded in reality? WHAT?!?! the whole iron man franchises' technobabble is enough to make any person who has ever had I physivs class in school cringe
He was referring to Tony's first suit in the cave in Iron Man 1. That would be possible.
bigmattman2005 It's a fictional universe, and Tony is a technological genius. We can assume he thought of that.
Playstation 2.
But I liked Iron Man 2.... :(
We must be in the minority.
Kojin MacJorn
I liked it more than Thor.
Kojin MacJorn I'll watch it over Iron Man 3 any day.
The entire trilogy was fucking awesome I don't care what anyone says
When Marvel make a film as bad as Hulk, Daredevil or Fantastic Four let me know. Until them calm down about Iron Man 2.
How about iron man 3 ?
How about Daredevil. Iron Man 3 was nothing special, it wasn't anything dreadful either though.
Which Hulk are you referring to? The Incredible Hulk? Because the 2008 one was made by marvel studios..
Joss Whedon is the poor man's Joss Whedon
Still better than batman vs superman
Guide to Street Magic Bvs is wayyyyyyy better than This pile of garbage.
Nandakrishna Vellat
Both are garbage.
Guide to Street Magic thank god someone said it
GodZiLLA
Yep. Both are garbage, but at least one wasn't a 3 hour teaser.
I wish to find you one day, sit you down on a bench and tell you how and why BvS was a great movie.
I was too young to tell a good movie from a bad movie when I saw this, and I was still bored as hell when I watched this. I didn't like this movie after I left the theatre, even though I really loved the first one.
13
***** ur 13? lol no wonder u loved IM3...does ur mom know ur cussing on the internet? lmao
creative You're an adult, and insulting me? Get a life.
not insulting u at all lol...dont take it too personal
Your parents let you watch this at 9! I couldn't even watch a pg-13 movie till I was 14 and half!
I like this movie. Hell, I like Age of Ultron. Fuck what everyone else says.
I liked avengers 2, as well...don't h8 m8
Xigbar Braig I loved AoU
This was the 1st time we got to see an expansion on a beloved character and it was awesome. Especially the suitcase armor
Do Galaxy Quest!
THE KING IN THE NORTH!
Thank you. You made my day
You'll send my regards to lord tywin?
Thomas Clarke nah. to tyrion. tywin's an arse
I thought Sam Rockwell and Scarlett totally killed it in this movie, too bad they were so poorly utilized -_-
Rockwell wasn't poorly utilized, he was brilliantly utilized.
I am so so glad that we've gotten all this way
HAWKEYE, WITH *BEWBS*
Do Rambo III!
Say "Grammar Nazis are helpful even though they are annoying."
gramear nazis r helpful evn thogh thy r anoying

"And a guy with a bird!" LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL 😂😂😂
Wellik I loved the way he said 'Bird'.
i liked it! i wasnt as good as the other ones but its defiantly not a bad movie
Better than 3.
***** HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NO!
sonicjrjr14 Terrible mandarin.
It's a fun time, dont get me wrong, but outside of Mickey Rourke and the introduction of Black Widow was there anything worthwhile or memorable about that movie? ...I mean, commercial?
sonicjrjr14 Justin Hammer, Nick Fury, the drone battle, War Machine, and Tony making the arc reactor. Also, the part with Tony's dad was cool.
I saw this movie for the first time today, and I really liked it. I don't understand all the hate for it. Iron Man 2 is a fantastic movie!
Its the worst Marvel MCU movie for sure.
DO GALAXY QUEST!
I got an ad for a movie that had the Epic Voice Guy narrating it XD
Its still better than 3
Except its not
ThexSkORpiO except it is
Timeyin Sholaye No, Iron Man 3 was excellent. The Mandarin twist was easily the best plot twist of the entire shared universe franchise thus far, and absolutely brilliant.
Twists don't make good movies
Jonathan Kozenko hahaha nope.
It was stupid.
I still think Iron Man 2 is the worst though, but the first one is the best one
TBH when I watch superhero movies my brain is always offline. Just give me popcorn, soda and lots of gratuitous action.
"Action" something this superhero/action movie had in severely small amounts.
Say "You're cruisin' for a bruisin' !!" ^^
Despite agreeing with the essential points of this video, I still LOVED Iron Man 2! It has SO many great scenes.
I really liked turbo kid. It is amazing and perfect, and you should make a video about it
RIP man in a garry shandling mask
nah, I still wanted Terrance Howard
I prefer Don Cheadle. He doesn't seem to have Howard's ego.
jackpot
Dobby - exactly! RDJ/Tony Stark had enough ego going around as it is, and it actually fit his character. Don Cheadle as Rhodey actually balanced him out.
Hahahaha Hawkeye.....with Beeewbs. haha I lost it.
Jon Favreau is a vastly better director than Joss Whedon.
0:08 this didn’t age well
Poor man's Joss Whedon line didn't age well... did it?
3:21 part of the dad with predictions cracked me up
The holograms aren't ridiculous, we will be getting that in the next 15 to 20 years.
lol
Jay Chung I second that
R Hsu Why? We already have Hologram T.V.'s
Jay Chung He is right
Yup.
Still better than Iron Man 3
Actually iron man 2 is good if u compare it to iron man 3
My favorite line "He survives being hit by a car not once, not twice, but four f---ing times!"
I swear If I get another ad from that stupid walking taco commercial im done
+Arwen Install Adblock
I get the unskippable 30 second ad for gamestop
I got army ad.
Use Chrome. No ads. Problem solved.
That's why I can't remember this movie!!
I liked Sam Rockwell's character here, but dammit if I wasn't going, "Who the heck IS this actor?" partway through the movie.
SAM ROCKWELL !. I love him in EVERYTHING 😂
