The fact that Highgarden isn't a large market town is baffling especially since it is the provincial capital and sits by one of the largest rivers in Westeros and is close to Oldtown
The fact that Oldtown is a city is baffling, considering it sits on the mouth of one of the SMALLEST and least significant rivers in westeros. The fact that Saltpans isn't the largest city in westeros is baffling, it sits on the mouth of the largest and most important navigable river, the Trident, AND it sits on a safe harbour, on the Narrow Sea, perfectly positioned to trade goods all over westeros and all over essos. Economics and city building is not one of GRRM's strong suits.
@@chrisrubin6445 even more baffling, there is no city on the mouth of the Mander. Would have at least offered some resistance to the Ironborn, who are now rowing up the river on their way to Highgarden.
@@nunyabiznes33 Highgarden isn't even a city, its a castle. Are the Ironborn gonna besiege it? good luck to them. Are they just gonna pillage the countryside? its the start of winter, wont be much there. Without a city there to sack, there is not much to be gained by the ironborn on this raid, unless they can somehow take castles. Highgarden could easily monopolize trade up and down the Mander, and likely wouldn't let their vassals build a city that would steal trade from them. Highgarden should be the city close enough to the mouth of the mander.
The ironborn is already a Big No of world contruction. How such lil sh*ts can survive, do some mich damage and get away with it without the other kingdoms (much largers and strongers) extiguishing them forever?
Fans: You're telling us that there's a castle surrounded by golden roses that's supposed to be the most beautiful in the kingdom? GRRM: Yes Fans: May...may we see it? GRRM:...no
tyrells are secondary players unlike the Bartheons Lannisters and Starks.its hard to make the plot take place there. We might see highgarden if the tyrells flee kings landing after losing a battle and retreat back to the reach.
Natalie Dormer as Margaery Tyrell 😍😍.. Highgarden sounds like an amazing place to be at. I always thought if Renly died in the show Margaery Tyrell should of married Robb Stark now that would been some kind of alliance. To me the Tyrell lack on the battlefield but made up in court there banner man always were the muscle I felt.
It's a bad deal for the Tyrells. Robb only claim kingship over the North and Riverlands. And even if the couple manage to declare independence, the Reach would be isolated, surrounded by hostile territory.
Highgarden is the jewel of the Reach, as beautiful as she is strong. With the great River Mander to her side, you can't surround her entirely so you must attack from the remaining two sides whilst contending with the defenders who possess the high ground and would have seen your army coming from miles away. Three walls to breach, each taller than the one before it, and a treacherous briar maze between the outer and middle walls, too thick to hack, cut, slice or even burn through. I refuse to believe that a depleted Westerlands army and one traitorous vassal house could take this castle in less than a day!
It's still a question that Aegon choose tyrells as warden of the South surpassing another great houses of the reach. But targaryns hadn't a closer relationship or marriage alliances with tyrells. That's funny. They have closer relationship with Hightowers than any house.
If I had to pick anywhere in Westeros to live my pick would be Highgarden. Great weather, you've got the river, The Lords aren't assholes, free love, parties. Sounds great 😊 Second pick wherever the water gardens are in Dorne because they sound nice 😊
Did any word that i said make me look like i was emotional? Different of you, i dont think so. And "Lords arent *ssh*les" is a good plural that imply more than Highgarden But, go off, big brain. Try to not swear more btw

If you mean in the show then don’t blame him, he was out of the show by the time D & D ruined it

Too bad the show runner's didn't read the GRAND castle part before showing it to us on GoT.
They did the Hightower justice tho.
Nah, they did. They already the the books, knew the lore and the sites of counts and places.
They just wanted to finish quickly to go to Star Wars
I think Highgarden is probably more beautiful than the eyrie, if not more beautiful then by far a lot more practical
My boy you working
He's been pumping them out lately it's awesome, I'm on maternity leave so it's keeping me sane. Baby finds them relaxing too 😂
They should have used Hohenzollern Castle for the show, it is as closest to Highgarden in real life as one can get.

I feel like House Hightower should’ve been wardens of the south instead. They had control of arguably the best city in the world at that time.
it's a crown, the castle
House Manderly is the Aegon to Torrhen Stark
I'm still waiting for the Ironborn to get wiped out completely. It's baffling that Tywin didn't do the job when he was hand.
Greatness lol
Isn't ser bronn of the blackwater the current lord of highgarden?
Only in TV show.

Either this or the Hightower. Casterly Rock would be nice if only it was closer to were the greenery is.
@@nunyabiznes33 oh the Hightower yes! If only women were allowed in the Citadel 😫
"Lords arent *ssh*les"
Never read of the fields between Peaks, Hightowers, Old Oaks, Florents, the ex-Manderlys, did you?
@@joaop4585 clearly you didn't read/comprehend my comment. I said Highgarden, not the Reach 🤷 chill tf out mate
