I like how seriosuly they take magneto's trauma. Like sure everyone has trauam but i think its fair to say most of us aren't suffering like people did in those camps. And for magneto its a constant thing in the show. Im amazed people dont talk about it. Like even during genosha it flashes to the camps but no one ever mentions it
Uhhh yes they indeed were good friends. You DO know what the word platonic means right? Just because two men hug and embrace each other it doesn't mean they're gay. Looks like someone has never had a same-sex best friend who they're close af to.
Im sorry to everyone who sees this as "gay" and never experienced a true friend before. I hope one day you'll find someone that will help you thru your darkest days
I've caught myself making the cute jokes about "kiss already" & etc. But I realize that wasn't really fair or necessary, and I was just wanting attention. This is a rare moment of vulnerability & intimacy between two men in media & I think we're all better off for it.
You know what this scene kind of reminds me of? The "Rage and Serenity" scene in X-Men: First Class! Both scenes play to the strengths of their medium, but get across the same point, a man with the power to read and control minds helping his wounded friend through his trauma and anger, not by force, but by compassion and empathy.
@@mikeym.4724Nah, not gonna lie, Charles and Magneto are like the only straight characters in Marvel where I wouldn’t be surprised if they swapped them to be gay… they just have that dysfunctional marriage dynamic.
Watching this shattered me inside. I found myself watching ww2 footages and other victims of different wars. I took a look at my family's past and they were right to defend themselves but not all the people part of one group were to be blame. There is no fully victim side in wars, in general. Understanding others' pain is a hard thing especially regarding the past resentment. Yet, i cant pursuade myself to justify my enemy's victims deaths. Distinguishing pain of civils and fanatism is an another level every human being should reach. I am just thankful my family never taught me to hate others just because of the past events.
Okay for real though I love how when you strip away the godlike power over magnetism, the innumerable crimes against humanity and the philosophy of Mutant/Human relations, Magneto at his core is just a scared child fearing that'll he'll be next in a place where he was persecuted and demonised and for what for being born the way he was and for being in a family that worshipped someone others didn't agree with?
I'm going to be honest this was incredibly cruel for Charles to do, opening the floodgates, even if it was for the greater good. I'm not sure how many people have realised that Erik is having a severe panic attack in this scene. Which is why, the waters start rising, he's terrified.
Exactly this. Charles is willing to manipulate and even destroy his so-called friend’s mind. All for what? The greater good? What greater good is there, in all this?
@@jordankintz4227 It wasn't even in service to the greater good. Xavier's path is objectively wrong. This is something established by Marvel's writers a long time ago, and they've not changed it to this day. Every timeline we're shown where his ideals are followed through on is some kind of horror. Either mutants are extinct, humans are extinct, or the entire planet has been rendered uninhabitable by one side trying to wipe the other out and ending up taking themselves out too. The Earth's magnetosphere would've gone back to normal in time, in this case. He was going to create a utopia for mutantkind, first on a large number of Asteroid Ms, then (after locating and terraforming an appropriate planet) on another world. Enough to house every mutant comfortably, if they would but accept his offer. Then they get to live, the humans get to go on with their lives. Everybody wins. But nah, Xavier couldn't let that slide. He had to go screw everybody over instead. Maybe it was "good" in the short term, but in the long run? Not even close.
Charles only saved a few billion lives. What a cruel thing he did. I would rather see all humans and most mutants die then to have the gene supremacist go through a little bit of trauma and self reflection (!) I actually love Magneto's character but it's absurd how little perspective some Magneto fans have. Just because he is badass and well written doesn't mean that we should be supporting his actions. Charles already reversed the EMP at this point and he could have just fucked off. But he stuck around to actually repair the damage he did to Erik. He did more for Magneto in this scene then most other people did in his entire life. He is trying to help him face his trauma and begin actually healing, rather then live in a constant cycle of hatred and revenge.
@Bishey Read the comics. Xavier didn't save anywhere near that many people. The planet was never in any real danger, and its people weren't either other than what they perpetrated upon one another while the tech was down. The Earh's magnetic field would have repaired itself after a few days. Most governments were already about to get their grids back online, too. Magneto intended to create multiple Asteroid Ms, as many as necessary to comfortably house whatever percentage of mutants chose to go with him. The next leg of his plan was to terraform an uninhabited planet into an Earth-like state so that mutants could live there safely. This was the pivotal moment; it would decide which of the many alternate futures shown to us could come to pass. With this act, Xavier permanently closed off all possibility for a long term positive outcome. Humans, mutants, or potentially the world itself are now doomed.
@@Bishey What Charles did was atrocious. He caused so many people to lose their lives by reversing that pulse. He put his "best friend" through all this for all the wrong reasons, even having been shown the future in an episode of the original X-Men TAS. He knows his path ends in obliteration for all.
@@LightningXXIain't nothing wrong with bein a little gay for the homies serious answer: while you are totally right that men can be close without being gay, i think the advantage that fictional stories have is their ability to allow for various interpretations of characters and their relationships. i think it's valid to see them as close friends, as brothers beyond blood, or with homosexual undertones. nothing wrong with any interpretations. we literally know both of these characters have had canonical relationships with women before, but that doesn't mean you can't see the relationship these two have as an allegory.
