Ti leaf lei (and almost any other lei) can be given and worn for multiple reasons. Usually you will see men wearing a ti lei as it is a bit more masculine than the commercial flower lei you will see on tv and in movies. This is a great lei to give to someone for their birthday, if they are a member of a wedding party, or maybe it's graduation and you need to make a bunch of leis for a lot of people in a fairly short amount of time.

Sorry I'm so late responding -- I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I actually made this while stationed in Japan!! :) one of my friends from Hawaii was leaving us, so I decided to take advantage of the opportunity and make a tutorial. I hope you get to try making a ti lei one day!! Aloha!

Also if you dont have an IRON then you can put it in the freezer for 3 to 4 hours.

Camera angle is such that we cannot see how the leaves are twisted together. We see the backs of her hands moving.
Sorry about the poor filming and angles!! I was in such a rush that day to make a lei before a friend's going away dinner that I just wanted to capture as much as possible, even if that meant poor angles :( But I appreciate you leaving a comment! Could not really see full view of twisting, bad camera angle, should be in front or sideways. Result is pretty.
I know, I'm so sorry. I was in a rush that day to make the lei, and I wanted to capture as much of the process as possible. The leaves were really thin and small -- not what I'm used to working with! I will definitely make another video with better shooting angles and better leaves! Thank you for your comment :)

This video doesn't help much when all we can see is the back of your hand making a twisting motion. It would be more helpful if we can see how the leaves are tied together and you explain the process rather than use a few caption words and play a Fiji song in the background.
