#askgmbn How much weight is too much weight for a mountain bike to take? I am a heavy guy (140kg) and I like riding trails, but I am not sure if my bike can take the beating.
#askGMBNtech I recently bought a second hand bike. When I first got it the brakes were fine but as I started riding the front brake started rubbing. I've realigned them countless times and made sure that the pistons are going back in but they keep on rubbing what can I do to stop this

During my time in the repair shop we had so many lefty forks laying in our scrap bins due to fatigue, many were cracked close to where the axle would go or by the top crown, also they require a specific hub to go alone with them, it's easy to see why they failed, from a design aspect it's a compromised design just for the sake of weight saving...

@benji I recently upgraded my streettrials bike with a Hope Pro4 SS/T and I love it! Compared to the old setup the Hope runs so much easier. Definitely worth it.

Some cassettes had hex screws on the back side. If so the rattle can be fixed. If it’s riveted than the cassette will need to be replaced unless you can press the rivets. I’ve never tried that.
Had the same problem with my m7000. You have to just go tighter. That's the only way I got it to stop loosening. Put the tool in a vise and use the wheel to turn and crank that thing down. Haven't had the problem since
With the rattling cassette, I had the exact same problem before. I found out that the M7000 is slightly too short on certain freehubs, (I'm on Hope Pro 4 hubs) so when you initially fit it you can crank it down and it seems tight but after a while of riding it comes loose again, despite the lockring still being tight to the freehub. I solved this by adding a 1mm spacer before fitting the cassette, now its nice and tight
I absolutely love my fiveten Danny McAskill shoes. they fit my feet insanely well, look good and grip my dmr vault pedals almost as well as if i were running clipless
with the wobbly cassette you might have a loose axle not the through axle but the wheel axle i had the same problem with mine and it just needed tightning up
#askGMBNtech 1. Recommendations for flat sole clipless shoes? I would use them with crankbrothers double shot 3s. Most shoes seem to have a large area dedicated to clips, and they might protrude, which doesn't work very well on the flat side. Any tips how to cover the rest of the clip adjust area (for extra grip)? 2. Any concerns with long term storing of a bike, what to consider for first ride after winter storage, other than air pressure?
#askGMBNtech Hi Doddy, thanks for all the suggestion on the channel! I want to ask if you can comment on the differences between different spokes lacing patterns (0, 1, 2, 3, 4 cross)? Specifically how one can choose the best lacing pattern for its riding style (trail, road, trial, DH ...), in other words how the lateral stiffness, resistance to torque, and weight change across these lacing patterns.
The Lefty uses the same needle bearing system that has been on Cannondale Headshok forks since 1992. Cannondale had the idea of the lefty all along, but they couldn't build it until disc brakes became available.
Hi Doddy, it would be great if you could record a "how to fix a stripped hole". I am thinking to drill it and fit a metal bushing in my suspension seat stay link. Thanks. Loving the show
That Hope buzz is the best! Just bought another set of hubs, and straight out of the box I'll be re-greasing them with Slick Honey. My aim is to never have to shout at anyone, just stop pedalling and they jump out the way!
You'll still get the walkers with headphones and loud music, or those people who can't grasp the idea of a "shared path" and just stand there in defiance :-|
1. I want to convert my bike from a 2x to a 1x and if I put a bigger cassette on will the detailer still work for it 2. Are Rockshox or Fox forks better to your preference
Your derailleur will almost definitely work. Derailleurs for 2x drivetrains usually have to have longer cages to take the wider range of gears. Check that your derailleur has a long cage though. And RockShox and Fox have very similar performance. It's usually a personal preference.
Hiya team.Just picked up a v-good deal on a Lapierre CF Team Spicy & it’s a loverly bit of kit but can never do this bike justice due to injuries from a life in the forces.I cover 20 miles a day through woodland track & gravel .I have the rear suspension locked out as this gives just the amount of comfort needed. Will this be detrimental to the shock & therefore unlock it from time to time. Many thanks for your time & “Top Shelf” info 👍🐸
I am moving to Singapore and I was trying to decide between a hardtail, full suspension of dirt jumper. I am hoping to be riding all sorts of trails and a little bit of street and skatepark.
A hardtail is probably best for a compromise between all those. Check out the Nukeproof Scout that Blake rides around on, he's a big fan of it for all round applications.
Doddy, I would like to give another possible problem for the guy wuth the slx 7000 cassette. If i'm correct, the 3 inner cogs are all one piece with an alloy inner body. and they are pinned (like the sram gx ones). never seen in a cassette, but heard that some disc brakes with center lock system come loose because the pins get some play. if the only 3 cogs that are loose are the inner ones, that could be a possiblity maybe?
Hey guys, Thanks that my question made it into this episode. So my problem is solved now. My local bike shop did not told me, that they did not check the free-hub-body while tightening the lock-ring. So I got me some tools and checked my self to see that the free-hub-body was almost completely "destroyed". Everything full of aluminium bits and flakes... The aluminium slots for the cassette were more than halfway gone... Luckily I could arrange a warranty replacement with DT Swiss Germany and they confirmed my, that the cassette was not tightend correctly in the first place...
Hi Doddy. I have just tried and failed in going tubeless. I know I might have been over ambitious trying it on 10year old 26” Rodi Excalibur DH rims and Shwalbe Tabletop tires. The inner gap between tire and rim seems to be way to big. I tried double layer of tape and I do have a compressor at home. Is there anything I can do about it or should I give up and try “slime” in my tubes?
Love the Lefty talk. I've only seen a lefty in the wild once in my life and have been intrigued ever since. Are they better or worse, who knows? But they sure turn heads.
9:40 as long as you keep the laces properly tight, you can stand in a puddle. I did in depth reviews: Freerider ESP: wp.me/p60aTF-1Nd Freerider : wp.me/p60aTF-2p1 In my opinion these soles are grippy enough, the Impact is not waterproof, and they weigh is significantly more, and the sole is thicker/higher. I prefer High tops, because the extra protection they give me, with shorter shoes I get scratched up.
Hey Doddy, I have a specialized stump jumper that I purchased roughly a year ago from my local bike shop. I have had a problem with the gears that when I am in my highest gear (11) my chain will actually run on my frame under the chain stay, which causes a grindy sound and makes the bike vibrate. I have a 1x11 sram drivetrain and am wondering what I can do to fix this.
To the guy asking about TRIALS I believe he has a freewheel on the rear wheel. The hope hub is a good option as it's still very wide and will build a strong wheel! Industry Nine torch hubs are also very good for trials and they're lighter. I would recommend getting a new freewheel that being the Echo tr/sl non titanium (from Tarty Bikes or HB Trials if in north america) they have 108 engagements and are very reliable. Before you do though I'd suggest pulling the old one off in case it's permanently seized!
#askgmbn Hey Doddy, Can a set of cranks wear out? I have a set of carbon XO cranks that feel like there is a bearing problem (grinding clicking sensation and sound) as I put force down from the 1 to 4 o'clock position on the left side. It is absolutely something with the crank as I have systematically switched out every part (pedals, chain ring, BB, chain, cassette, rear wheel, etc) in identifying the crank as the source. When I look at the crank, it appears perfectly fine, no obvious damage, missing bits, groves of any sort. I've searched the interweb looking for info on this situation but haven't found anything substantial. I thought it may be the chain line but the feeling is in all gears and the other set of XO cranks I have seem to work fine. You experience and thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve.
#askgmbn I am new to working on my bike and I had not gotten a took wrench at that time, when I was taking off my headset to clean that grease my barring etc and I stripped a screw on my headset, any suggestions on how to get it out?
#askgmbntech I just bought a canyon torque with adjustable 210-195mm rear travel but I don’t want to run a dh fork on it, could I just use a 160mm pike or bump it right up Rockshox lyric at 180. Would it be uneven?
Hey Sammy Buswell, check out what Canyon suggest for fork minimum and maximum. Having the right travel up front will not only balance the suspension front and rear, but it'll also give you the correct geometry for what the bike is designed for. You'll probably need 170mm+ travel fork.
#askgmbntech I have a rockshox pike rct3 from 2015. Recently it has started making a cracking sound. I talked to Adam from the UA-cam channel Trail Chasers what the sound was. He said that there is grease between the steerer tube and the crown and the grease has worn out. I would like to know if this is really the issue and tell everyone to check out Trail Chasers! His video that came out last Monday on the 2nd will be really interesting. It is a really cool topic that I think you, Doddy, should do.
#askgmbntech Hey I have a 2017 Trek fuel ex7 and most trek mountain bikes have the Mino Link. How do I change its geometry(with the Mino Link) and is it ok to change it often?
I've got some halo chaos 26" wheels, I've been looking for a dj frame but can't fine one that takes these wheels apart from Dartmoor and ns bikes, also is there a way to get the 135x20mm axel to fit to a 12 mm axel?
Hey Luke, 26" wheels are hard to fit in bikes these days. Unfortunately 26" is definitely a rare thing. However, DJ bikes seem to be the last safeguard, and it shouldn't be hard to find a frame that'll fit your wheel. What axle do you have? Dartmoor and NS are great options anyway, having roots deep in the dirt jumping crowd. As for the 20mm rear axle, could only see an option for that on a scooter.... 😳
#askgmbntech I have a question with regards to setting the rebound on a front fork. We have a lot of corrugated roads here we I ride. It feels as if my fork is not absorbing the bumps as it should and feels stiff although the sag is setup correctly. Could the rebound setting make a difference in this regard?
#askgmbn I have a problem with dropping my chain all the time. My bike doesn’t have a clutch derailleur. I have the mounts for a front derailleur however I can’t find a chain guide for this anywhere. Have you got any suggestions.
#askgmbntech Hi Doddy! GMBN Tech is one of the best UA-cam channels ever (second only to Ali Clarkson). I’ve been hearing about the new Shimano XTR hub. I’ve heard it’s completely silent and revolutionary. I know Onyx also makes a silent hub, with instant engagement. How are Shimano and Onyx hubs different?
#askGMBNTech hi doddy i am currentely riding whith a 32t at the front an a 11-42 cassette in the rear but i want to be able to ride faster and want to be able to ride the same lightest gear what i have currentley what would you reccommend? Or even go 1x 12
#askGMBNtech I am riding downhill/ bike parks and starting to race enduro on my Nukeproof Scout and I'm considering getting a longer travel fork than the 140mm that comes with it but I'm not sure what the largest I would want to go is. At what length travel would the handling of the bike be negatively effected and what length travel would simply be unnecessary since it is a hardtail?
Good show as usual! Stoked to see the Giro riddance last year I got the Giro jacket and it's my first ever bike specific shoe! I was bummed they discontinued it so its' awesome they brought it back and with the added upgrade of the ankle protection something I had wished my jacket's had. I'll have to get a set of these!
#askgmbntech I recently bought a new bike (calibre line 10) and after a particularly steep descent on my commute my front rotor warps quite dramatically from the heat. After a few minutes it cools and returns to normal. On one hand I’m not too fussed as it returns as stated, and I’m yet to return the bike for its free initial tune up which I imagine would resolve the issue, but on the other hand the descent is one I’ve ridden on previous, cheaper bikes with smaller rotors and before their tune ups with no such issues; is this something I need to be concerned with?
#askgmbn hi Doddy, I love the show. I have a 2009 get sanction 3.0 with a 2×9 drive train and I want to upgrade to a 1× drivetrain but I don't wanna spend too much so I thought that if I put a narrow wide chainring with a gear with a number of theeth between 38 and 24 so I can have a sort of nice gears
That's one nice bike you've got :D I wouldn't suggest you make it a 1x9 at all and here is why. If you put a 34-36 chainring in the front, you won't be climbing anything with it ever - which may or may not be a concern for you. Also, if you put a chainring smaller than 30 in the front, you won't have much speed on flats and descents. Again, all of this depends on how you are riding and what you prioritise in your rides. Also, from a compatibility standpoint, 2x components don't work all that well in a 1x system. I would honestly suggest you save some cash and get a set of shimano m7000, or the new nx eagle from sram, and just upgrade your whole drivetrain. It will save you a lot of heartache in the long run.
Hey Dogman Lol, upgrading to a 1x drivetrain has lots of benefits. But a 1x9 setup will limit your gearing quite a bit, especially because there aren't really any cassettes with a wide range of ratios to give you easy climbing. If you're on a budget then you might want to go with a smaller chainring than if you have 1x10/1x11. Try 30t is your crankset will fit it on the big spider.
#askGMBN hello doddy, i have xt brakes but the rear brake lever feels a little spongy whereas the front break is stiff, btw both of them are well bleeded. Love the show really helped me a lot.
#askGMBNTech I'm fairly new to the mountain bike scene and have recently bought an entry level full suspension MTB with the RTW scheme (Jamis Dakar A2). Upgrade compatibly is quite confusing and I was wondering what I need to look out for in regards to upgrading the wheelset in the future. I don't fully understand the type of freehub I would need and what would be compatible.
Maybe it's just Triumph, but they admitted that their twin-sided fork was less weight than their single-sided rear fork on the Daytona. Personally, I like the Adroit fork where, in a pinch, I could fairly easily turn it into a rigid and maybe there would be some parts commonality with the rear fork.
#askgmbn hii doddy. Love the show. I am having problems and my lbs just look at me strange when i asked them this. How do u get your hair so fresh dude
#askgmbntech Hi gmbntech/Doddy This is a really nerdy question so I thought that might me the right place to post it. I'm seriously considering building a bike around the santacruz chameleon frame set. The standard fork on the assembled bike is a fox 34 with 120mm travel. Since the frame has rather short chainstays (415mm on the xl) I think the bike might get a bit tail heavy on the climbs if I fit a 130 or 140 mm fork. (don't know if that's the right term...what I mean is that the front wheel will keep rising on the uphill) Can I counter that by setting more sag? Or does that effect the performance of the fork too much?
You could counter it by lowering the stem a bit or fitting lower rise handlebars, but it really shouldn't affect the ride too much. The Chameleon is made to be versatile, hence the name, so adding 10-20mm travel won't destroy its climbing ability. Rather have the correct sag for your riding, because it's most important when you're headed downhill.
Hi firstly let me say I love this channel;-) could you pls tell me what would be the lowest safe pressure to ride on tubeless 27.5x2.25 Vittoria Barzo? I’m more of a XC rider but still would like to push it down those bumpy trails. Got hardtail and that lower pressure would give me 1 better grip, and 2 bit smoother ride. Pls let me know what do you recommend (other than getting full suspension🤪)
I know it's 2 years later, but I have a hardtail, and I'd suggest throwing in a rim liner like cush core, and then you get better tire stability at lower pressure. It's a solid set up for a hardtail!
Hey Maksim Simeonov, forks have the damper in one leg and the spring (air or coil) in the other. It helps give enough space for proper damping and a big enough spring.
#ASK GMBN I want to ride bikes like you guys do im 15 and i dont have the money to buy a good bike is there any compitions i can do to win one but not in a race cause i live in south africa and would like to do one for a bike
I dont think that there are complete bikes given away to winners of any competition. In Crankwork in whistler a santa cruz v10 frame was given away and that was someting very special.... I think you just have to save up and get a decent entry level hardtail.
Probably.... But why? You wouldn't need that range because you're not climbing with it (please tell us you're not climbing with it?) If you want more range look at an 11-36 cassette. It should give more than what you're after.
#ASKGMBNTECH I'm considering my next upgrade to my Pivot Mach 5.5, so I would like to get your thoughts on it, should I go with some carbon wheels, my bike came with DT Swiss M-1700's w/ 35mm internal rim width, or should I upgrade my shock from the Fox DPS to the DPX2? I realize there's a big price difference between the two choices, but I'm wondering witch would give the most noticeable performance for the money.
#askgmbntech Hey Guys, I have been watching GCN and GMBN for quite some time. I have some new SPD Cleats and some new shoes. And since I have put the cleats on the shoes the annoyance of noisy, squeaky cleats has been driving me and my riding mates crazy. Is there a fix? And I will note that I have SPD pedals on my mtb, gravel and CX rigs and the squeak is on every bike. Thanks
#askgmbntech Hi Doddy, I am a big fan of Shimano Saint brakes and put it on my DH,my Enduro/Freeride bike and my Kenevo. But it happened already twice after 2 years of riding in all kinds of conditions that the lever gets stuck and does not want to return anymore. First time this happened I thought it was because of my regular crashes, but after the second one I started googling and found out that a lot of Shimano users do have this problem. Not only with Saint but also with SLX or XT brakes. It always starts slowly, the lever does not spring back quite as fast any more and if you are in a hot environment or sunlight the brake starts to block but get's better as soon as it gets colder again. But I found out these are just the early signs of death. I've already bought two new replacement lever units and the brake worked perfectly again after that, so it is definitely the lever unit. Do you have any ideas or fixes for this? See e.g. here www.bikehub.co.za/topic/155987-fixworkaround-shimano-xt-m785-brake-lever/ Thanks Chris from Germany
Hello doddy I’m reasonably new to mtb but I’ve improved quite a lot what bike would you recommend speasilized stump jumper or yt Capra al comp #askGMBNtech
Hello Doddy I Got a question That Im realy interested in getting the full answer out of And Im watching all the shows. I ride a vitus escarpe 1 2013 with 26"wheels And IT has a 27,2mm Seat post. Used to run a gravity dropper post on it, but IT Got niced off at a bike camp a few years ago. My question is, are there any other good droppers out there in 27,2 mm? I know about the Thomson model And the KS model, but are there others That work Well? (Thomson model i have seen getting alot of shit due to many returns) Pretty shure Im not the Only one to Wonder about this😁 Hope this gets on the show And keep it up, love the show👍🏻👍🏻
#askGMBNtech I love your videos and have 2 questions which clipless shoe would you recommend for enduro riders between the five ten kestrel and kestrel lace and what are the differences which ergon grips for enduro and what are the differences
#askgmbntech I noticed that many pro dirt jump riders use mechanical disk brakes. Arent hydraulics superior in pretty much every way? First I thought it's because they use detanglers, but then i found out that there are hydraulic detanglers. Why some of the best riders in the world would choose not to use the best brakes they can?
Radomił imo mechanical disc breaks are great. If you set them up right there is very little difference in modulation and stopping power plus you don't have to worry about your break fluid over heating and or leaking out onto your rotors
Hi, dody and the whole team First of all, I would like to thanks, the lefty points is bit clearer now, but I'll like to ask what about the hub and the junctions with the forķ , as it seams to be in really weak points? A last point about it, there obviously no suspension tech in road/gravel fork, and both could coming with disc, so it's clearly not about keeping calliper too Thanks again, from Corentin, french fan leaving in Egypt Ps could you also explain why most manufacturers launch mostly 1x setup? I upgraded mine few years ago from 2x10 to 3x10, and I really love it #askgmbntech
Got a tech question for Doddy? Comment below or send it to hellotech@gmbn.com! And don't forget to #askGMBNtech

Also in the lefty's favour, if you double the diameter of a cylinder it becomes 8 times as strong, so the fact they are a bit thicker means a lot.
This key point is a bit counter-intuitive, but by using the material of two forks on one fork instead you get a much stronger overall system.
Doddy- The world's only human Mtn bike computer database....Dude knows everything! 👍
He might be the reincarnation of Sheldon Brown
Finally some positive information on the Cannonball Lefty. I own 4 mountain bikes all with Lefty's, from a 100mm travel to 160mm Lefty Max on my Enduro bike. They are very smooth, no stichtion.
I only rode the Lefty 2.0 100mm and it was by far the best fork in that travel range that I ever tried
Did anyone see that the WD 40 spray can that reads Doddy, had me dead 👌
MTB Shredder that’s from ages ago
Tomi Saaranen Sorry I misspelled it and I haven't noticed it till now sorry :(
@@th_js youre toxic
As always very informative even if I don't have any problems to solve myself atm. This time I liked the segment about mountain bike shoes. This'll be a pretty helpful reference as soon as I'm in the market for pair of new shoes.
The Freerider elements would've been my suggestion too
Yeah Doddy! You've got an amazing broadcaster persona. Personally I know a lot, but I could never dole it out like you, clear, and concisely verbally.
have lefty om XC racing bike, can't tell enough how awesome this thing is
Till you have to service it.
Me too i love it!

@benji I recently upgraded my streettrials bike with a Hope Pro4 SS/T and I love it! Compared to the old setup the Hope runs so much easier. Definitely worth it.
Thanks for the feedback!
Get a kick out of how after all these years people are still questioning the lefty.
Looks funny, works fine, move along.
As long as you're not needing longer travel, yessir.
Had one on my Prophet back in the day, even as a 220 lb hack of a rider, no issues whatsoever.
Might work fine for road bikes i would never trust it on a mountain bike
I have the previous model Specialized 2FO. Theyre a little stiff, not as grippy as specific bike shoes, but it is still grippy. EXTREMELY durable, and the single-most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. As an ex basketball player at 32, I've worn a few...
Didn't know I was a bike geek till I started watching Doddy! Not only does he know a huge amount, he can explain it.
He knows what he's talking about for sure!
Some cassettes had hex screws on the back side. If so the rattle can be fixed. If it’s riveted than the cassette will need to be replaced unless you can press the rivets. I’ve never tried that.
Steffan Gotzen, also check the rivets that attach the sprockets, they get loosen and may be thats the problem, it happens to me twice on xt cassettes
Had the same problem with my m7000. You have to just go tighter. That's the only way I got it to stop loosening. Put the tool in a vise and use the wheel to turn and crank that thing down. Haven't had the problem since
There's some goodly stuff out there, Doddy - cheers man! 👌🏻

Please tell me that I can assemble the Lefty Ocho for Orbea frame mtb(oiz)? Thanks for your answer!
Love my 510's. So much grip
Im 230lbs and have been using a lefty fork for over 10 years. Zero issues.
It's definitely something that we're all hear about, if there was ever an issue. Has anyone ever heard of a Lefty failing?
I am about 100kg too and my lefty 2.0 PBR 100 works well. But I would warry with the Ocho :-)
1. I want to convert my bike from a 2x to a 1x and if I put a bigger cassette on will the detailer still work for it
Anyone know the size of the screw that goes in the blue cap on PBR?
Potentially! It's a good theory.
Hey guys,
Thanks that my question made it into this episode.
Problem solved!
#askgmbntech Does Doddy use the Doddy WD-40 to slick his hair back?
XD
His own special formula 💁♀️
Love the Lefty talk. I've only seen a lefty in the wild once in my life and have been intrigued ever since. Are they better or worse, who knows? But they sure turn heads.
And sometimes that's enough to appreciate their existence!
greengonzonz ......I've had 3 different Leftys and all 3 proved to be very reliable and buttery smooth. Nothing but great things to say about them.
9:40 as long as you keep the laces properly tight, you can stand in a puddle.
I did in depth reviews:
Freerider ESP: wp.me/p60aTF-1Nd
Freerider : wp.me/p60aTF-2p1
In my opinion these soles are grippy enough, the Impact is not waterproof, and they weigh is significantly more, and the sole is thicker/higher.
I prefer High tops, because the extra protection they give me, with shorter shoes I get scratched up.
I'd like to see a guest presenter covering brakeless street trials.
Great advice! Cheers
Your show is awesome I watch them all
Great!
#askgmbn I am new to working on my bike and I had not gotten a took wrench at that time, when I was taking off my headset to clean that grease my barring etc and I stripped a screw on my headset, any suggestions on how to get it out?
Hey Rando_Rabe, which screw did you strip exactly? Send us a few pics on Facebook messenger so we can take a look at your issue and try help out 👍
GMBN Tech will do, thanks!
Great Thanks, Appreciate it :)
there actually is a dh lefty
i saw a few on the trails lately.
#askgmbntech I'm in the market for a new 27.5 bike and don't know if I need the 160mm of travel it's a Pyga Pascoe 140 or should I go for 29'
Great video. Just for next time check the focus 😊👍🏼
#askgmbntech Hey I have a 2017 Trek fuel ex7 and most trek mountain bikes have the Mino Link. How do I change its geometry(with the Mino Link) and is it ok to change it often?
Top tips again!
GMBN Tech would halo chaos 26” wheels (supadrive) fit in a Morpheus vimana frame?
I always wondered about Lefties.
Hey Ben Smith, check out OneUp components. They have a wide variety of chainguides for near any mounting position, even around a bottom bracket.
Good show guys
This design has some relationship with the bicycle manufacturer KASTAN? In the 90's they manufactured a fork similar to the LEFTY, but for BMX
I use a Solomon cross country trail running shoes. they are decent but could probably be better :d
Couple things to check: are both pistons moving out? Is the caliper centred over the rotor?
Love this show.
Thanks pro mod steve!
Are the pads on the rear almost gone?
#askGMBNTech I'm fairly new to the mountain bike scene and have recently bought an entry level full suspension MTB with the RTW scheme (Jamis Dakar A2). Upgrade compatibly is quite confusing and I was wondering what I need to look out for in regards to upgrading the wheelset in the future. I don't fully understand the type of freehub I would need and what would be compatible.
#ASK GMBN What brand of shox would you say is better rock shox or fox on front and why is it better
Armandt Coetzee if you have a rockshox shop near you, buy a rockshox vise versa no much different besides you can buy a coil kit for the fox
Thanks
Armandt Coetzee Fox is the top brand for Suspension forks and and rear shocks. And they have been around since 1974, Suspension is in that blood.
*Their
They make the lightest forks out there and they have the Kashima Coat
Maybe it's just Triumph, but they admitted that their twin-sided fork was less weight than their single-sided rear fork on the Daytona.
Personally, I like the Adroit fork where, in a pinch, I could fairly easily turn it into a rigid and maybe there would be some parts commonality with the rear fork.
#askgmbn hii doddy. Love the show. I am having problems and my lbs just look at me strange when i asked them this. How do u get your hair so fresh dude
#askgmbntech
Hi gmbntech/Doddy
This is a really nerdy question so I thought that might me the right place to post it.
(don't know if that's the right term...what I mean is that the front wheel will keep rising on the uphill)
Can I counter that by setting more sag? Or does that effect the performance of the fork too much?
You could counter it by lowering the stem a bit or fitting lower rise handlebars, but it really shouldn't affect the ride too much. The Chameleon is made to be versatile, hence the name, so adding 10-20mm travel won't destroy its climbing ability. Rather have the correct sag for your riding, because it's most important when you're headed downhill.
The right pedal is like a "lefty", the left pedal - like a "righty". How frequently do the pedals' shafts brake?
Very nice way of thinking about it LisaPet!
top show again,thanks
#ASKGMBNTECH my fork is a double side fork but i servisted it and only has a spring on the right .why?(not an air fork)
Get a summer job.
Tomi Saaranen my parents dont have the money to pay me and i cant work for some one else we live in a small town
I dont think that there are complete bikes given away to winners of any competition. In Crankwork in whistler a santa cruz v10 frame was given away and that was someting very special....
I think you just have to save up and get a decent entry level hardtail.
Then you're doomed.
Get a job
Could I put a sram xx1 eagle drivetrain on a DH bike? @askgmbn
Probably.... But why? You wouldn't need that range because you're not climbing with it (please tell us you're not climbing with it?) If you want more range look at an 11-36 cassette. It should give more than what you're after.
Good video👍
#ASKGMBNTECH I'm considering my next upgrade to my Pivot Mach 5.5, so I would like to get your thoughts on it, should I go with some carbon wheels, my bike came with DT Swiss M-1700's w/ 35mm internal rim width, or should I upgrade my shock from the Fox DPS to the DPX2? I realize there's a big price difference between the two choices, but I'm wondering witch would give the most noticeable performance for the money.
What are your thoughts on incorporating bmx skills to mountain bikes
#askgmbntech
Hey Guys,
I have been watching GCN and GMBN for quite some time.
Thanks
Love it!
#askgmbntech Hi Doddy,
I am a big fan of Shimano Saint brakes and put it on my DH,my Enduro/Freeride bike and my Kenevo. See e.g. here www.bikehub.co.za/topic/155987-fixworkaround-shimano-xt-m785-brake-lever/
Thanks
Chris from Germany
Why do I have to buy Cannondale Lefty?
I keep getting the ads for 'an idiot abroad' when it watch this channel Doddy, not sure if that reflects on me or you :/
😂
Hello doddy I’m reasonably new to mtb but I’ve improved quite a lot what bike would you recommend speasilized stump jumper or yt Capra al comp #askGMBNtech
#askgmbttech
One Day my (Shimano) hub just vent silent, i dosent say anything, what Can be the course?
Hello Doddy
I Got a question That Im realy interested in getting the full answer out of And Im watching all the shows.
(Thomson model i have seen getting alot of shit due to many returns)
Pretty shure Im not the Only one to Wonder about this😁
Hope this gets on the show And keep it up, love the show👍🏻👍🏻
Where can I get a Doddy Spray?
#askGMBNtech I love your videos and have 2 questions which clipless shoe would you recommend for enduro riders between the five ten kestrel and kestrel lace and what are the differences which ergon grips for enduro and what are the differences
#AskGMBNTech Hi Doddy! I love the show. I'm torn on buying a new fork for my xc bike. Should I buy another coil shock or air shock? Thanks Doddy!
Air shock. Much lighter and more adjustable.
#askgmbntech what’s a good tire that is good for riding on concrete and sand?
Thanks
#askgmbntech I noticed that many pro dirt jump riders use mechanical disk brakes. Arent hydraulics superior in pretty much every way? First I thought it's because they use detanglers, but then i found out that there are hydraulic detanglers. Why some of the best riders in the world would choose not to use the best brakes they can?
Radomił imo mechanical disc breaks are great. If you set them up right there is very little difference in modulation and stopping power plus you don't have to worry about your break fluid over heating and or leaking out onto your rotors
Hi, dody and the whole team
First of all, I would like to thanks, the lefty points is bit clearer now, but I'll like to ask what about the hub and the junctions with the forķ , as it seams to be in really weak points?
A last point about it, there obviously no suspension tech in road/gravel fork, and both could coming with disc, so it's clearly not about keeping calliper too
Thanks again, from Corentin, french fan leaving in Egypt
Ps could you also explain why most manufacturers launch mostly 1x setup?
I upgraded mine few years ago from 2x10 to 3x10, and I really love it
#askgmbntech
Corentin Vaslin I would guess it to be a weight issue, everyone nowadays weighing how many fucking grams a chainring is or a front derailleur is
Review ethirteen 12 by conversion kit?
It's definitely something cool! We don't actually review products, but it's certainly work featuring.
#ASKGMBNTECH When di I know that it's time for a shock or fork service. Love Gmbn Tech
