So pleased you enjoyed it Sallie, and it's always good to see places you're familiar with from a different perspective. In truth, I'm living my own dream too. I took the plunge nearly five years ago (metaphorically speaking that is) and have never looked back. The improvement in my physical and mental health has been immense, I recommend the lifestyle 😁
Hello Andrew and your lady Val. Crofton Pumping station has one of my family's Cornish pumping or whim engines. From memory it is an 88, that being the bore in inches of the atmospheric cylinder. My 62ft traditional Gardner 3LW engined narrow boat Galton was sold to someone who lived in Wiltshire in 1993, he had her taken up to full size by the builders Les Allen and Sons at Oldbury in the West Midlands and the boat was moored on the K&A. My late wife, I, two cats and a dog were live a- board's on the Staffs and Worcs Canal near Kinver in the nineties and we cruised all the local canals. The canals were a lot quieter then, than in your time cruising I note, but what a great life. Stay safe and well, love to you both. Rex.
Hi again Rex, the area I lived in Northumberland had a profusion of disused lead mines. I remember one pump house (known locally as Sheldon Castle) had a Cornish pump engine installed in the early 19th Century, I believe the only one in Northumberland. I remember seeing Galton on my travels, and I suspect it was on the K&A between Bradford on Avon and Bath. I stayed there for almost a year so will have seen it often. I do love the sound of a Gardner. As I said in a previous reply, you're lucky to have cruised the canals in the 90s. That said, it may be busier and more commercial now, but I still feel blessed to be doing it now.
Picking up my first boat - 63' narrowboat - from Woolhampton to bring her down to Bath starting next week. Your videos have been a brilliant watch, really informative and well produced - thank you!
Andrew I’ve just watched your vlog about you journey to a healthy life on the canals. I remember watching your first few blogs where you where waking up in the car and heading off to the boat. I recall thinking that this guys really needs a time out from life. It’s like you were a butterfly emerging into a new life. You’re an example of how we can all emerge from the darkness of life and into the light of a new day. Stay strong.
Loved this one Andrew. Great scenery, and I love your selections of music. It's also wonderful that you've found that angel who wants you and got you off the streets and is with you on a narrowboat! Of course I'm referencing Vals "Praying For An Angel". Sweet! Happy days to both of you!
I took my 94 year old mum for a day out and simple picnic by the bridge at Hungerford last April. She will be thrilled when she sees your video including the seat we sat on. Thanks for another great episode.
The Red kites are probably seen alot along your route because of the Railway which runs close by, they're probably picking up the animals that sadly get killed by the trains, I'm a Train driver and we often have close calls with Red kites picking up the remains, they are wise birds though and in my 25 years driving think I've only hit one because it couldn't lift quick enough as it wouldn't let go of a Pheasant.
@@talesfromtheswansneck well I caught covid for a week so needed a week off then got better but couldn't get rid of the smell of smoke for two weeks and still get the odd tired day but I have just been offered a payrise so swings and round abouts 😂😂😂
Watched on the Telly when this first came out. Just getting back so I can say hello. I picked up the mandolin maybe 5 days ago. It’s short enough it doesn’t hurt my arm to hold like a guitar would. I played on my first session last night since the Ent attack. Felt so good to be ble to join in. Enjoyed floating with you two. I need a bed.
@@talesfromtheswansneck Tonight I borrowed a friends guitar for one song if I put of a pillow under my elbow on top of the chair arm I can play kinda. My little finger isn’t very useful yet but I could do OK. I’m going to take a guitar with me this weekend. A large gathering of musicians. Should be fun.
the images that you share, the quality, and the composition are breathtaking. what a difference an artist makes

Hi Skip, the mandolin sounds like a good way to recover - such a pretty sound. Hope you continue to recover and are fully fit soon. Take care mate.

@@yeoldfart8762 Sounds good. Take it easy.
Nice to see again some of my old stomping grounds. I have spent many a day at Crofton and Wilton.
Thanks Trev, not a bad spot around there is it? Hard work though...
Dorset❤️
(Wins on coast and countryside)😉.
Yeah Dorset is right up there too, and Northumberland.
Can't wait for you to start uploading in 4K resolution, that would help your channel as well.
Your cruises are always such a joy to watch… very picturesque 😳
Thank you Lynda
